I have them all but the LX is the one, everything you need in a film camera, just learn to trust it, it delivers.

I like the colour coding on some pentax lenses making it easy to line up the hyperfocal distances, thanks for the reminder :)

Oh my goodness, incredibly hard news to hear. Hopefully the transition can be slowed for as long as possible.
Wonderful month of photos and so clear and bright photos, the horse photo was my favourite

Wide at last, looking forward to seeing the 645 in action again. I'm heading the other way, to prepare for the alleged weight of the new 85mm later this month, I am going to pump some iron, this should make the 85mm seems lightweight

Welcome, I believe we are all still figuring out our cameras. The 28-105 is a great lens, I am sure you will enjoy it, what better way to enjoy your camera than to use it daily. :)

Well another month down and I have found this lens the DA 12-24 f4 has been an easy friend to play with for the month. I was a little off, however the lens did not show too many issues that were noticeable to me. Many complain in the reviews about horrible purple fringing. Whilst I could see some in harsh conditions, it was easily dealt with in lightroom. The lens really works well in the field as well as for squeezing in all those indoor real estate type shots. I'm glad I had the chance to remind myself of the quality of this lens. On the last day of the month I discovered it has no hot spot on IR cameras, an unexpected bonus. Here are some of my favourites from the month. Thanks to all for the comments and all of the interesting photos you have all shared, a fun month.

Glad to hear of the uncle photoshoot, a joyous time tempered with your unexpected loss, enjoy the distraction of photography and never forget how wonderful the hobby is for bringing us a smile when we look back at photos of those no longer with us.

Sadness on the delay but happiness that you can get the 15% discount. I received a few other items yesterday, I weakened and went for a 100 year T shirt and some lapel pins of the LX K1 and 67 as well. Surprised to hear of you thinking of removing the 645 from the stable, the results have been impressive from what you've shared, is it lack of new 645 lenses coming or something else, no need to answer this question unless you feel the need to share.
For next month the Lomogon sounds interesting with the DA* 300mm a second choice, I love my F* 300and would like to see some more shots from the modern version

Speaking of 2, it was 2 years ago that I started on this single in challenge, July 18. It feels odd not taking a photo every day now, thanks for the inspiration over that journey Ismo. Looking forward to the M 200, it seems to come up often at very reasonable prices.

Sandy any 85 will do until the DFA arrives, mine not due until after the 20th July so perhaps the DFA70-200 or 67 M*400, I have had enough wide angles after the last 2 months, time to get closer with a tele.

Hmm interesting potential demographic, Cialis consuming bitter Ex-Pentaxians Sociopaths, if it wasn't for the ex-pentaxian part I might consider joining. In the meantime, the best way to minimise the Pentax is doomed threads is to purchase new products :)
So glad to see some pictures from the new lens after years of being teased. I even sat through 12 minutes of a Japanese youtube video just to look at the lens on the K1 and see some more images, now tell me more about that DFA* 21mm........... it might be for me :)

Well I bags the M85 once the windsurfer , horse fees, snowboard and CD collection is paid for and Ismo gets the DFA 85.
Bags- regional version of bagsy and dibs here , we tend to shorten words :)

Not Happy after watching this post and checking out the high res shots I was impressed, then the poppies arrived and I was decided that I would purchase one when the next specials were on offer locally, damn email arrived from the local distributor for end of year sale 15% off. Order submitted and I blame the sneaky marketing department at Pentax for letting Stephen out with a copy to tempt the believers.......
Who says Pentax doesn't know how to market a lens :)

Hang on this is serious, walking past trolleys, that is something that you need to correct immediately, head back there and you own that trolley photo. Maybe for inspiration you could log on to pentax.com.au and take part in the 15% off sale for the next 7 days. I was tempted too easily and now have the 85 1.4 on order.......... oops

Grey sky blah does suck the enthusiasm out, however the 70-200 coming should sing through next month

Interesting post, at first look it would seem crazy, then you look back at the film photography era and the 50mm standard lens was the way to go. Having used the new 1.4 50mm , I agree, the special pop that this lens brings has me believing you could have just this lens and live with no other lenses. In reality I keep buying more lenses but the 50mm is not going anywhere other than in the camera bag

I find the 18-135 offers the versatility for my photography, I prefer close ups and detail shots rather than super wide. My wife uses the canon version and the versatility of the lens range and looking at her shots led me to choosing it. It can be had reasonably cheaply which helps too.

Well here goes K1 FA 1.7XAF teleconverter with the M* 400mm 67 lens with pentax 67 K adapter

Like all lenses the AF converter cannot do the whole focal range, you need to pre focus manually to a zone and then the AF does the fine focusing. I was surprised how well it worked, naturally close up subjects take more manual focusing to get it in the zone, however from 10 meters onwards very little manual focusing was needed. The bokeh and sharpness seemed acceptable to me, I was using the combo on a monopod rather than a tripod, so there may have been a little camera shake.

af 1.7 400mm fence by Gary Wakeling, on Flickr

Then I tried pre focusing on a fence pole then taking a series of shots just using the AF and seeing how far the lens could AF

af 1.7 400mm fence 5 by Gary Wakeling, on Flickr

overall I found it wasn't hunting for focus and I think I will actually use the combo in the future.
Each fence post is about 10 feet 3 metres apart and it covered a range of 40-50 feet which I found pretty good in a usable range
