Some of the 4/3 zooms were arguably some of the best ever made. I have an em-5 and find I prefer the output of the e-500 and e-630 I had in many ways to the Sony chip in the em-5.

I guessed based on the yellow. Pentax yellow runs more towards green and Canon toward red.

True. Even if you don't see it it can reduce contrast and give a slight haze over the whole frame ala the Fuji x100.

No idea of the magnitude of the D750 issue. Speaking to flare in general.

I never found the portrait setting on Nikon to be any better. It just gave a less contrasty yellow/green, peach or grey.

I don't think I could pick the Canon's out, but would have a high success rate picking Nikon unless the photographer spent a lot of time in post trying to make them look better.

I don't necessarily think Canon is best, just way better than Nikon. Olympus used to be great before the latest generation of sensors, they are still decent, but not nearly as nice as older ones. I have a theory that the Sony sensors or at least current high dynamic range CMOS sensors may be harder for camera makers to get good skin tones out of.

Canon's seem to be more forgiving from one area of the face to another. Shadow transitions are gentler. Nikon is harsh and will leap from one tone to another with little transition. Probably makes for nice landscapes, but not pleasing on portraits.

So, it's all down to profiles and white balance? I'm not going to try to convince you. It's obvious you can't see it. And that's fine, some can't, but some can. It's well documented that people see the same things differently.

I'm not so sure, sports and wildlife shooters that have the cost is no object are shooting 1DX and 5D3 with long fast glass from what I've seen. They probably use a crop body as well, but their go to camera is a FF. Birders might be the exception.

The advanced hobbyists flock to APS-C because they can't afford good glass beyond 400mm. They like the 1.6 teleconverter as you say.

You don't see nearly as many "why can't I get pleasing skin tones out of my Canon" threads as you do Nikon. With Nikon, many claim skin tones for Caucasians have gone down hill since the D200 days.

Canon, while not perfect takes less work. Nikon gives you Yellow, green/grey, or peach skin or a combo of all three in the same photo to try to fix. But... you can pull shadows five stops! I guess if you only shoot trees, rocks and water you've got it made.

I haven't seen enough photos from the D750, but right now, if I shot Nikon for portraits, I'd be using the DF. Nikon's own sensor seems better for skin than the Sony ones.

Amazing, but it's also an unrealistic scenario unless you set out to produce phart ala the one shot hdr "wonders" that I see out of the D8xx cameras on Flickr.

Most wedding pros aren't going to run into that scenario I'm guessing based on the author's statement "I repeat, this is not a real world example, it's simply testing the furthest reaches of the sensor."

The target buyer of the 7DII is the wildlife or sports photographer that can't afford to put the glass they need on the 5dIII or the 1DX. For that shooter, Pentax isn't a consideration, nor is Samsung.

Yes Canon is behind in sensor technology, but that matters less than what the buyers of the Canon gain in many other areas. Nikon DX shooters are perturbed that their choice is the D7100 or the old D300(s). Yeah, they've got a better sensor in the D7100, but they long for the build quality of the D300, and hate their short raw buffer in the D7100. The 7Dii is better in those areas. Skin tones to boot, are better in the eyes of most on Canon, at least compared to Nikon, though wildlife shooters might prefer the punchiness of the Nikons.

It will, if the AF works as advertised, be better than any other Canon, Nikon or Pentax crop body (though I know it can't touch the Sony A 6000 with the world's fastest AF, but then you can't have everything :) )

Once they handle as well and have the battery life, why not. That said, I'll probably get one of these eventually. I'll have it as my point and shoot counterpart to my DSLR.

I would take the 5d3. It's AF is better, it's build is better, better primes in general, 1/8000. The D750 will have a better sensor according to DXO.

My bet is zero would have switched unless they were spitting nails after the D600 oil spots fiasco. Even then, the rest of the Nikon system would be much more attractive to the wedding photographer.

I think the 750 will be a good success and what the 6x0 line should have been in the first place. Though why they limited the shutter speed to 1/4000 is beyond me. The D700 owner has got to feel like this is nowhere near the body they hold in their hands already in many respects.

Yes, if it comes it at 24mp and fast. It's going to make lots of folks happy.

BTW, I know some wedding shooters that use Canon that shoot mraw for most everything but group shots. They don't even want the full 24mp.

Today if I was wedding shooter using Nikon, it would be a D4(s), D3(s) or D700 or the DF.

Oh, hell no. Is this your first time on a photography forum? Go to DPrev where you can find daily threads of camera A vs a future update of camera B that has not even been announced or hinted at by the manufacturer.

This thing exits. That no one has used one matters not. Sheesh! Get with the internet!

Honestly, YES. I have shot one and think for what I want it is the best Nikon DSLR. I like the tonality of the Nikon sensor better than the Sony's in either the D800 or 6x0 lines. The fact that it lacked video was a huge plus for me.

You're making me want to buy the DF.

A bigger sensor would have been nicer, but having used an X10 and an RX100 which I still own, the Fuji was the nicer of the two for usability. The RX100 is pretty futzy small for anything but putting in in P or Auto and pressing the button. Of course I've never thought Sony understood usability when it comes to cameras. They get points for specs and innovation, but usability, not so much.

I was looking for a compact that is not the RX100 that has a 1 inch or larger sensor. I think the upcoming LX8 might be it, or the rumored fixed lens m4/3.

The whole process seems about as heartening as calling 911 only to have them ask you for help.

Pitiful really. No way to run a business to keep or win customers. I'd like to think it's a temporary thing, but parts delays are common on Pentax gear over the years. It smacks of "when the folks that make this stuff for us finally get a big enough order, they'll make the parts, then send it in a container ship and then..."

Good luck. I think you'll need to stick to the GR for awhile.
