Would you purchase DXO software now after their bankruptcy?

I've upgraded to DxO Photolab (from a much older version) sometime after the news about bankruptcy. It currently supports all the gear I have and with the rate Pentax releases new stuff I think I'll be fine with the current version for at least few years even if DxO goes out of business meanwhile (or Pentax for that matter).

Autofocus any (incl. manual) PK lens with Sony A7II

Mine is still fine and focuses reliably. I have it since it came out but I only use it from time to time (on a7rii) but I've seen people complain on other forums that theirs developed a mechanical problem after several months of heavy use and some other problems like it drains the battery for some if left on the camera, etc.
I'd suggest to check the lengthy thread about this adapter on fredmiranda before investing into one.

IQ Comparison: 16-85 HD VS 20-40 Limited

I still have both and my 20-40 is slightly better in most of it's range - but only visible when pixel peeping (real images, not charts). After i bought the 16-85 i use it most of the time as the range is much more useful

Final score - Pentax 84, Sony 82. So WE'RE TIED??!!?!

seems most people don't realize the dpr score and gold/silver award labels have nothing to do with this article, but are just automatically pulled and displayed from the review database.
their scores are only somewhat meaningful compared to the state of the market when the review was released

K-3II or KP which one????

I'd choose K-3 II ... nothing beats the true flagship K7/K5/K3 style body. Let's hope K-3 II was not the last model to have these ergonomics and features set.

If I were you I would get right now a K-3II or K-70 depending on what fits best your feature preferences and price range. Sony has not released any new APS-C sensor since the 24mix that is already an all current Pentax APS-C offerings so chances are that even if they release a new camera later this year it sill will be the same sensor.

Replacement focusing screens now available for K-1

K-1 focusing screen is attached pretty much the same way like it is for example in K-5 ... it is actually little bit easier to remove. My K-1 came with couple of dust spots so I've removed it to blow them off and then attached it back.
The overlay is somewhere behind it, I did not had to mess with it at all.
I expect replacement focusing screens will work just fine if they are not much thicker than the original one.
If they now have the S-type for K-1 I'm going to give it a try

Will Ricoh Make A "FULL FRAME GR" Camera In The Near Future?

Probably not with the 36mpix sony sensor due to its color casts problems with short register wide angle lenses. Although, since it is a fixed lens camera anyway, they might just add a color correction profile it in the camera firmware ...

If you are extremely masochistic and lucky - you might be able to take the lens block out and stick it somehow inside K-1 in LV mode as it essentially does Mirror Lock Up.

DFA 28-105 - worth the purchase?

The copy I tired and returned was a very good 35-70mm f8+ lens, rest of the range was weaker, probably OK for a walkaround lens so for that purpose It's a good option for the price. Although why anyone would "walkaround" with a ~ $2500, 1.5kg bulky camera/lens package is still a little bit of a mystery to me.

MC MIR-20M 3.5/20 - blue corner flare on full frame. Any ideas?

No, it was not like the typical A7R color shift you can get with rangefinder wides, which usually comes with some extra vignetting in the corners as well. In this case the corners were actually brighter than the rest of the frame with that kind of pattern like it was produced by flare.

I had the non-mc version once ... had way worse flare in the corners than this (on a7r) . I even thought initially I might have a light leak on the adapter or something with internal reflections but I just got rid of the lens and did not investigate.

FA 35 F2 AL v D-FA 50 F2.8 Macro

The FA35 is OK, but not as uniformly sharp across the frame as the FA50 macro. The sigma art 35 1.4 and even Samyang/Rokinon 35 1.4 are closer to FA50 macro as far as sharpness is concerned, but both are quite huge.

Assuming X-T1 way of doing things, for TAv you just have to set the ISO dial to "A". If you also want in general to control the shutter from the front dial instead from the top one - I think the way to do it is to set the top one to "T"

HD D-FA28-105mm still has old style front cap?

For those still wondering - the original cap for 28-105 (O-LC62) is the same style as for example the 18-135 lens cap on the picture ... the 16 85 (O-LC72) is ... well kind of different cosmetically as can be seen (logo, etc) but I'm not sure I've noticed any practical difference, except that it is 72mm vs 62mm so the "holes" are bigger, and it is more easy to use if you have big fingers
