Off-Camera Flash setup for K3-II

So I ended up buyinga YN560 IV. Unfortunately, it doesn't fir the K3-ii. Is there a hot shoe riser or something that I can use? The flash is too fat and hits the top of the camera so it can't sit on the hot shoe.

Only positive is that I intend to use it off camera mostly. I bought two and a 560TX, which I've since discovered does fit. But I'd like to be able to use it on camera on occasions.

THanks for the clarification/round-up. I am planning on getting 2 flashes, so I may just go with the 560. Two flashes+trigger would be $160 versus going either of the other two routes. I wasn't aware that I'd need a Cactus for both the body and the flash. I might move to that down the line, but I think startign "cheap" might be worth it first. To see if I really get much use out of them.

Would a Cactus V6II work with the YN585EX or would I need wireless triggers for that too? Just ask because the 585s seem pretty cheap on eBay. THe Cactus isn't that expensive so I may go that route, but it seems like I'd also need to get more expensive flashes for that.

I recently played around with an acquaintance's A7RIII and his lighting setup, which included a off camera flash in an umbrella and a couple continuous lighting panels, and had a great time messing around with things possible with flash. I'd like to find a flash I could use with my camera, a K3-II. I mostly shoot portraits and macros. I've been looking at a couple Yongnuo flashes, but I'm unsure what exactly I need. I've seen wireless triggers from Yongnuo, but a few of their flashes also say they are wireless, and then I know Cactus adn Phottix now has systems out as well.

Additionally, since I shoot a lot of macro, I was interested in a ring light. Would this work with a K3-II?

If you ever get a chance, Emirates and Singapore have amazing a380s. For 777 or 787 the best ive seen has been Hainan or China Airlines.

Haven't flown on many, but I've been on most major carriers 777, 787, 747, and a380s. At least ones that fly into and out of the West coast. Love the exterior of the 747 but the newer planes have much nicer interior.

I have 4 total batteriies for my K3. I bought the K3 used and I didn't realize it came with an additional battery so I bought a 2 pack online. If I knew it came with 2 batteries I probably woudln't have bought the 2 extra.

Got these two shots today using the Pentax 100. Tried a few with the Sigma 17-70 too, but the 100 came out better.

Those shots are amazing. I just got the Pentax 100 macros and I'm definitely having a rough time getting bugs to stay still long enough to get them in focus. Coudln't imagine gettign shots like yours.

I can't think of any time that I used the flash on my Kx so replacing that with the GPS/Astrotracer unit is a definite positive.

So I posted back in August about being interested in a Pentax 100 or a Sigma 17-70. Well, I actually ended up getting both. Found the Pentax 100 for $150 (non-WR version) locally and bought a Sigma 17-70 Contemporary off someone in the forums. Additionally, about 20 minutes ago I ordered a K-3 II to replace my Kx. Pretty excited for the new body. Recently printed off a few of my shots and I'm hoping the K-3 helps with some of hte larger prints. Here are a few shots I've taken so far. Haven't had too much of an opportunity for animals/bugs.

Thanks for the recommendations/advice. I'm leaning towards the K3-ii just because it will be cheaper, but I may hold out until Black Friday and just see what pops up then. GPS is important to me, specifically the Astrotracer, but I can get a KP with better IQ and tilting screen and just buy the GPS separately. I think it'll come down to pric e.

Well.....I just said why not adn bought a used K3-ii for $620 with a 2200 shutter count. Seemed to be a decent deal from what I've seen on the forums. Decided that the GPS was the most important piiece for me and this will save me money from having to get the separate unit.

I have a Kx that I bought back in 2010 with my first "real job" paycheck. Was really excited and used it often. The last couple years I haven't used it much, but I recently moved to a new position/location and there are several people who are interested in photography in the office. This has got me back into taking pictures. I recently bought a few lenses, Bower 14mm f/2.8, Pentax 100mm f/2.8 Macro, and Sigma 17-70 Contemporary. I've been debating moving up to a newer body. I really like the K3-ii, specifically because it has the built in GPS and I really like astrophotography. However, it seems like the newer bodies like the KP and K70 have superior high-iso performance and some extra features. Is the KP superior in IQ to the K3? I can always buy the GPS module if i'll get better images from one of the newer bodies.

Additionally, the guy I bought my 100mm from had a K5 with a battery grip. I really enjoyed using the camera much more compared to my Kx. When I hold the Kx my pinky and part of my ring finger have nothing to grab. If I'm looking at battery grips, will 3rd party ones from ebay be an issue?

Thanks for any help.

Hey, I could use some advise. I'm interested in landscape astrophotography and I'm looking for a good lens. I've seen the Samyan 14mm, 16mm, and 24mm all mentioned. Do you guys have any advice on which I should go with?

Hey, I could use some advice. I'd like to get be able to get some macro shots, mostly flowers, and I'm looking at two lenses. First is the Pentax 100mmm-D FA WR and the second is the Sigma 17-70mm. The Sigma is $50 less currently and seems to have pretty good reviews, however, the Pentax has better reviews. If I'm using it solely for macro, would the Pentax be better? Thanks for any help.

Also, there is a person selling the 17-70 on CL for $300, which would be $250 cheaper. If the IQ isn't that significant, that might push me towards the Sigma.
