Noise in the underexposed terrain makes it almost blend with the stars behind the moon.
This makes this photo almost surreal.

I am at a loss, how this effect was achieved, even reflections in water are matching the moon position.

I recently posted a request that is a subset of the above, below is my request as a reply to this thread. Other thread will be deleted:
Hello.
First of all I agree with Pentax decision to focus on still photography instead of splitting focus between stills and videos.
I mostly shoot stills but lately I found myself needing a video making capabilities and I would love to use one camera for all my work.
Since in-body recording of your top cameras is not enough for me, I considered external recording options.
see this thread by other forum user: K-1 and External Recording - PentaxForums.com
Is there a chance that better external recording could be addressed in future firmware updates ?
I would love to hear from your opinion on this topic.
Regards.

I mean 60 full frames (1080p) I need full frames because what I am aiming for is 30 fps for final playback with ability to slow down some parts of the video, and 60 interlaced frames will not allow me to do that.
After some more research on the forum and outside of it I decided to post this request too :). Lets hope that two people nagging for this feature will be enough for Ricoh/Pentax to notice.

Hi, all, I am bumping this thread because I am strongly considering upgrading to K-1 as my main camera bu I have a small video series in my plans in the near future. Since I am not really interested in 4k, the sensor limitation is not a problem for me but I would like to be able to record 1080p@60fps. The question is if K-1 will let me do that, not "in body", for sure, but maybe with external recorder like Atomos Shogun mentioned above ?
@PiDicus Rex - did you manage to get something usable out of your setup ? or the overlays proved to be deal breakers?
Regards.

Very nice colors and atmosphere, I like that you chose to keep the detail in the water.

I personally would crop out the second photographer, that place in itself is enough, stunning photo.

I checked RawTherapee on Windows and the patters is there too. Now I am convinced that the issue is caused by the demosaicing algo.
Feel free to share my post.
VNG4 algorithm does not produce aforementioned pattern.
As for the suggestions that the output resolution might have something to do with the problem, I can see the pattern on many zoom levels in the editor view port and in exported output with couple of crop sizes.

I can confirm that the issue is indeed on the software side somehow, I just checked in a Lightroom trial and the photo is fine.
This is a relief but I will try to find out why other software is misbehaving and if it can be resolved.
I have to add, I am using Darktable and RawTherapee on and off for the last 3 years and this is the first time I faced something like this, I switched to DNG just recently so maybe that has something to do with it ?
Regardless, thanks to all of you for your quick replies.

The regularity of this pattern indeed suggests a software issue but I doubt it lays on the converter side since I tested more than one with the same result. I will reset camera firmware and monitor photos to see it this helped.
As for what Adam suggested, I don't have the camera with me now but I will post the result of that test.
