I do not have a slightest desire to buy another mirrorless from Pentax,
have the Q , Qs1 and K-01, that is more than I can handle in mirrorless world.
Pentax please concentrate on improving FF and cropped DSLR's.

Help novice with replacing kit lens please..

Hi Timea,
I only used once the kit DAL 18-55 and DA 50-200 ( not DAL but optically they are identical) + Pentax-F 1.7x AF teleconverter with my Pentax Kx.
It was on my trip to Melbourne in NOV2010, I was not disappointed.
Melbourne NOV2010 | Flickr
Images are jpegs straight from the camera, Kx is a very enjoyable tool, still with my Family with both kit lenses.
After a short research I upgraded my kit to used Sigma 17-70 2.8-4.5 DC Macro ( non HSM) , absolutely loved it, you could practically touch the subject with the lens and image was still in focus.
I purchased two more of them ,both used, did a lot of traveling with them. Sold one, the second one did go to my niece with Pentax K-5 , the third one is permanently attached to K-30.
You can get them very well priced on the used market. Perfect for narrow old European Street and dark Churches.
Some photos taken with them:

By using fast zooms you can find out what focal length is most important for you, then you can invest in good primes.
I would not recommend DA35 2.8 Macro as your first Prime.
It is very sharp and well build but focusing could be frustrating while you are trying to get something in a hurry.
This lens has very long focus run from macro to infinity.
I also have newer Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 DC Macro HSM Contemporary, AF is a bit faster and silent but optically they are very similar:
Sigma C 17-70 2.8-4 DC Macro HSM | Flickr
Auto Focusing , in the most cases, I use central single focusing spot, AF.S mode, lock the focus on the important part of the image, recompose and take the picture.

I think the only option you have would be to find used Sigma EX 10-20mm F4-5.6 DC ( non HSM, older version).
I used to have one, purchased it used in 2011 for AU$100. I gave it to my niece after purchasing Sigma 8-16.
Some photos taken with it:

It is a pretty decent lens, reasonable common and in most case, reasonably priced.

My traveling companion was (for years, you can get one for under $200 used ) Sigma DC 17-70 2.8-4.5 Macro, and now is Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 Contemporary HSM Macro.
Perfect range for traveling. You will need fast 17mm for narrow streets and inside the churches.

Tamron SP Adaptall-2 300mm F/5.6 Model 54B
there is a number of very good zooms in SP range and you can get them with PKA mounts
Tamron Adaptall-2 200mm F/3.5 Model 04B
Super multicoated Takumar 300 4 with M42 mount good but big S-M-C/Super Takumar 300mm F4 Reviews - M42 Screwmount Telephoto Primes - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
All old prime telephoto lenses are convenient, you will get full SR on any Pentax body, with PKA mounts you will get auto metering, with Pentax F 1.7x teleconverter you will get AF.
There is a number of very good old zooms very reasonable priced ( Vivitar, Tokina, Tamron Adaptal2 etc) but SR setting is much more involved as they can/do change focal length.
I also have Pentax-FA 47-5.8 100-300 Silver , very decent lens, it is AF and you can find them reasonable priced.
SMC Pentax-FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8 Reviews - FA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
I also have DA 55-300 ( the original) very decent lens , DA-L version is optically identical ( and very well priced on the used market) but comes without the hood ( can get it from e-bay) and no quickshift - you just need to be aware about it.
kind regards

I like hoods for various reasons, they do increase the contrast and image quality but they also protect the lenses.
Few days ago I had K-1 with DA*200 on the tripod, it was knocked off and hood is broken but camera and lens are fine.
DA*300 has the same hood so both DA* can share one.
Yes it is 27mm hood, I purchased it from eBay
DV-s Screw Mount 27mm Camcorder Lens Hood With Cap | eBay
I just tested this with K-1, all good no vignetting.

The medium grip arrived from Japan, much better for my fingers than the small one.
The price 4500 Yen.This is not just a piece of plastic but nevertheless it should come free with the camera.
The medium gives you similar feel as K-s1.
I might get the large one as well that should feel more closer to K-1.

Took some test shots with DA 40, FA 43 and FA 77, no more donuts!

Welcome to the Q Family.
I have the Q ( the original) , the master of precision engineering + Q-s1.
My favourite lense are 01 and 08.
Metabones just started selling Speed Booster for Q cameras, the first version is for Nikon lenses , do not have any, not going to buy any.
The next version is going to be for K mount lenses, that would open Pandora's box.

"No country for old men" pneumatic Captive Bolt Pistol that must be the ultimate hole making device.
With the right design can make round, square, triangle etc holes, whatever you can imagine, or am I simplifying the matter?

I have tried to use GPS on My K-1 but so far no luck, always
No positioning
after calibration, do we have GPS satellites over Australia, I thought we did?
Well I live on the 5th floor in high rise apartment block , maybe I need to get out to be able to calibrate GPS?
