Thanks for the info. I have a copy of the *28-70 and was considering an upgrade to the 24-70. My main concern was at the wide end, wide open. My copy isn't very sharp at 28 f2.8. It's not a big problem because I've purchased an F series, 28 f2.8 Which is sharp wide open . I was just wondering if it was worth upgrading to the newer 24-70

Have you done any side by side comparison between this lens and the DFA 24-70. I was considering getting the DFA 24-70 also and was wondering if the image quality is superior to the *28-70

Tethering K1

Is the Transmitter II software needed for the basic plug-in? I thought it was only needed for the T2 plug-in. What about a cable is there a specific cable that should be used? I tried it with a basic cable and not one that was specifically for tethering. Although when I installed the T2 plug-in with the generic cable the plug-in did see the camera.

Given the reviews that Precision camera has are many considering the upgrade? I was until I saw that it was through Precision.

HI Adam,

I did change the USB mode. It didn't solve the problem

Hi jatrax,

It's the same as you described, but the tethering bar says no camera.

Hi jatrax,

I'm using windows 10 . Sorry I should have stated that. My computer sees the camera when I plug it in. I inadvertently installed the plug in for transmitter 2 and Lightroom saw the K1, however, I don't have the transmitter 2 software so t wouldn't work

Is anyone familiar with the basic Lightroom tethering plug-in that Ricoh has for the K!? I'm trying to set it up and it say no camera detected. I've gone over the set up and my settings are correct. Any ideas?

Pixel Shift

Does anyone know how to find which images are pixel shift without having to find the file and look at the size? I shot a bunch of images and on some I used pixel shift. I don't see any indication of which ones they are without looking at the file size. I looked in Lightroom and the Silkypix software.

HI Adam,

I had the problem again and you were correct. It was because I had the auto focus point set to select. After I changed the focus point to center I was able to access the four way controllers sub menus. Thanks!

FA* 400 vs 150-450

There are so many things to consider, it's crazy. It's hard to decide without a side by side comparison with images from the same camera. I see some images that look really good from both lenses and then some that don't look to good from both lenses. I'm sure this is due to different conditions, use of tripod or not, aperture, etc. I really like the conveniences of the 150-450, but I also want the sharpest images I can get.

FA* 400 vs 150-450

Nice shots Mike! What I am considering about the FA* 400 is if it is sharper than the F*300 and Pentax HD 1.4 TC combination. If it's not then I'l just stay with the F*300 and the TC. If it is sharper then it should work well is the TC which would extend my reach even more. Initially I was gong to get the 150-450, but was concerned about sharpness because it is a zoom. I decided to look at some primes in a longer focal length thinking they would be sharper.

Looks pretty nice even wide open.

I had looked at this lens too as a possibility. Nice!

FA* 400 vs 150-450

The weight isn't really an issue as I have the FA* 80-200 which is pretty hefty itself. It's heavier than the FA* 400, but not as heavy as the 150-450. I like the way the F and FA lenses render color. However, sharpness is really my main concern. The 150-450 definitely has many advantages that have been pointed out. The faster auto focus is definitely nice for birds in flight. I've read some reviews that say the 150-450 is sharp at the long end and others that have said it's a little soft. I would mainly be using the long end and really would like it to be sharp. That is the man reason I was considering the FA* 400. I know primes are usually sharper than zooms. I was hoping that someone had experience with both of these.

---------- Post added 01-06-2017 at 10:26 PM ----------

Mike, do you have any images of the 150-450 with the 1.4 TC? I have the 1.4 TC and have used it with my F* 300 and it's works nicely. Was wondering what your images look like with the 150-450 combo.
