In the last picture It looks like the Ricoh pin?? 180 from the red alignment dot. Are you sure it is a K-mount? This pin needs to be removed to use on Pentax DSLRs.
Not all that sure as i don't have any with the pin, but a google search shows that location.

Adobe Elements 13 | PC/Mac Disc Amazon $44.99

Tom, I have LR4 and Elements 11 that I purchased on Amazon and downloaded back when they were a gold box bundle in 2012.
I just checked my old order via Amazon search and the download link is still available as is the activation code. I think I would have lost the disc or activation code if I had a physical copy!
Adobe are good at helping with upgrading from these too. :)

Good price..Thanks for the link Robtcorl

is this normal on the 18-135 lens?

If you are referring to the little white marks, there are two on the lens bayonet, and they correspond to a 3rd on the hood. They are a guide for mounting.
I dont see any other marks in your pictures, so I hope that is what you meant.

Here is an amazon link to the one I have. I have it fixed to my field flatener so for me its like mounting a small lens that I then place in the telescope.

DNG files and Capture one with the K-30?

I'm sure Capture one has its uses aimed above entry to mid level DSLR's from any manufacturer. when cost of software is more than camera body???
DNG is as you say, a generic standard, as such it is open to interpretation. My K3 DNG files are often confused in LR4 I need to set my own WB. I believe Adobe have added correct camera correction to later versions. If all DNG were equal this would not matter. PEF files are specific but supported less main stream.

I have just removed the hood from mine but there are no markings on it to help identify, I also pulled the instruction manual and it shows nothing of use. Good luck. Let me know if you need measurements and pics to help identify.

Infrared camera control from BEHIND camera?

I usually control my camera from behind, unless its time for a selfie :-) I don't remember if my K-r had a rear IR but the K-5 and K-3 do, there are a couple of Pentax and aftermarket remotes, and I still have my cable release from my ME super

ivanvernon. I was corrected by Boriscleto. He is correct in saying that you need a USB micro. The K5 used USB mini (see picture) this cable is actually for my old LG phone.

You are correct.
Its been a long time since I used a cable on my K5. I must have used a phone cable when I first got the K3. Now I have a $15 USB3 card fitted to my PC and a new cable, love the speed difference on the larger file size.

This is a USB3 connection. If you don't have USB3 on your PC and a new cable, the older USB2 plug will fit in one half to give you same download speeds as your K5ii
