K-x 18-55mm kit lens macro ability

i'm curious about taking macro with kit lens too. Unlike my previous prosumer camera which i could go very near, i have to stay at the minimum focus distance with k-x.

How do you actually take macro with k-x + kit lens? What i did was to focus on the subject first and zoom in, is this wrong?

Problem with KX picture defect

Dust on the sensor. The inbuilt dust removal function doesn't guarantee 100% dust removal, you might want to use a blower instead (page 287 of the manual). If problem persist, bring your k-x for a sensor cleaning session.

Nice. Any idea what was the temperature on that day and how long did you spent under the hot sun?

make sure your subject is clearly defined, refer to page 65 of the manual.

did you change the focusing area? you might want to set it to center of the viewfinder (page 117)

Should I get the Pentax K7?

If there's not a need to upgrade, why not wait?

I read that K7 is a very good camera so how much improvement will the new models have? This is something to consider. Also new doesn't necessarily mean better.

Exactly when will the new models be in the market, no one knows as well. Only time can tell.

thanks guys. i raised this concern because of the frequent unbearable heat i'm facing doing outdoor shots.

Am i right to say that high temperature does more "damages" than low temperature?

Lens operating temperature

Hi guys,

I'm using K-x and its operating temperature ranges from 32 F to 104 F. Does this operating temperature applies to the lenses?

I have 18-55mm and 50-200mm, both DA L which are plastic mount. Are they less tolerant to heat?

Initially, i wanted to get class 10 from another shop in the same mall, so after buying the cam i went to search for it but found out that the shop had shifted out recently.

I was already late for an appointment so no time to search for class 6 or 10. From my price research, the price of class 6 is almost the same as class 4 iirc, but this price offered is not located in the mall.

I went back to the shop which i bought the cam from and the assistant told me they only have class 4 which will work for pentax k-x.

So far most cameras have pretty good grip for my hands. I have tried canon 1000d, nikon d5000, nikon d90.

Using pentax k-x now and i love the grip, its ergonomic.

sony a230 and a330 are just horrible. a330 is a well-featured camera but with poor ergonomic.

Thanks kerrowdown, you're too kind. Singapore is just a small city.

It will take me quite awhile to get my shots right (got to familiarise myself with k-x) :)

Thanks vincent and muse.

I will do more experiment and continue to read the manual, now on page 112 (bought k-x 2 day ago).

Initially i wanted to get class 10 but the shop had only class 4. I was too eager to use the k-x so i bought it and hope my money wasn't wasted. The amount i spent on class 4 could have gotten myself a class 6 easily.

Thanks for answering my queries. Have a nice day guys. :)

did a search on google, i read that it is because the buffer is full and the shooting rate will slow down; if the card is fast enough it will have no impact otherwise it will.

i'm confused whether my card is working smoothly for continuous shots, as some people said at least class 6 but a few others with class 4 have no issues.
attempted two times of continuous shots, the first one had some frames missing after a number of shots which are in sequence, the second seems to be in sequence.

i only managed to take a minute plus of video, wanted to take longer but my area is too hot now (did outdoor shots where cars are moving). settings used were 16:9 and 3 stars but the video quality turns out to be quite noisy/grainy. where does the problem lies?

i gotten the kingston 8g sdhc card (class 4) today, wanted to get class 6 but the shop didn't have it. the assistant told me class 4 will have no issue with hd video recording and continuous shots....

i did try but can't conclude whether the card gave any problem as im still new to the camera... how do i conclude that my class 4 card works without a hitch?
