Is this not a good time to invest in Pentax?

But still it is a fact that Hoya holds Pentax till Ricoh bought Pentax completely. Base on the Pentax history, they've been merged to Hoya. Basically Pentax was suffering budget issues so that's why they were looking for a company to merge in. Yes they were no interested in the camera and that's why they messed up with Pentax so much such as kicking out several optical technicians, several lenses had been canceled, and SMC had been used by Hoya.

& - ???? I had to translate it but they clearly show that Pentax had been sold to Hoya and then Ricoh.

First was Hoya and then Ricoh. The problem is that Hoya didnt sell the entire Pentax. They kept several Pentax technology such as optics. That's why Pentax is having trouble with making new lenses recently.

But it is a fact that Pentax had been sold to other companies for at least twice. Compare to other brands, it is concerning.

I doubt about Pentax tho because they are doing nothing for future. Ricoh already announced that they lost quite a lot of profits.

http://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/nikkei-reports-ricoh-facing-biggest-crisis-ever/ (Ignore TinusVerdino who is a Pentax fanboy trolling without proofs and evidence)

This is not the first time. To me, DSLR is limited to improve performance. Also, people don't need DSLR anymore due to its size and weight. They would prefer mirrorless or smartphone.

Nikon also having a lot of troubles too since Sony became 2nd in USA.

K-1 is a amazing camera but It seems that Ricoh/Pentax does not making profits from Photography in the world that much. If this gonna happen for a long period of time, they might gonna sell Pentax or else.

Im gonna sell DA* 16-50mm F2.8

Well I moved to Sony A7rii because it has superior AF system and performance and I dont need to worry about AF calibration at all. The size is really important and A7rii satisfy me so much. Being able to shoot with EVF is very useful and helpful that I dont need to test before I shoot but basically the screen is very useful without using EVF.

Quite weird but I think there will be upgraded version of K-1, K-1ii after 2 years.

K-5ii released after 2 years from K-5
K-3ii released after 2 years from K-3
645Z took 4 years from 645D.

I wish to see new cameras not upgraded version but Pentax seem to enjoy upgrading camera body.

But still have small body like Q series

You are not wrong but the major people will think it's uncomfortable and not efficient. I don't think adding a joystick is not a bad option but keeping just only 4 way controller is worse. It is time to have a joystick on Pentax camera.

That's not even nice. Green button can be relocate to other location. Most people think that joy stick is way better than 4 way controller. Fuji X pro-2 and xt-2 have a joy stick with 4 way controller so why not? Also, Pentax is already aware about joy stick controller any way.

Base on their interview, they might make cheaper version of FF base on the sell amount of K-1

Pentax is not even ready for sports camera at all. Not possible

We need to wait till 2018. Ricoh is being prep for mirrorless camera system but they are not gonna show it till 2018.

I wish Pentax to create fast motor lenses.

1. Low percentage. Pentax system is not that well known first of all. Flash system is the example. No one wanna make products for Pentax but only few of them. Both B&H and Adorama sold K-1 quite a lot so maybe but compare to Canon and Nikon, it will take a lot of time.

2. Quite dead. Only popular in Japan. First Q camera cost $1000! Small sensor might be the cause. Size? Panasonic mirrorless camera has small body like Q series too.

3. Mirrorless system might possible

4. Price and durability. Look how cheap K-1 and 645Z are.

5. Personally, they should improve better AF performance especially with AF-C, add more limited lenses, try follow the trend, use faster memory card like UHS-2 or fully support UHS-1, and etc.

I do aware that but the location of that controller isn't right for controlling af points. Moving my thumb upside down is really uncomfortable and unnecessary. Also, the controller itself is big that I have to move my thumb a lot while the joy stick is smaller and easy to control. Overall, even the 4 way controller is fine, controlling AF point is very uncomfortable. Why not adding a joy stick if we can get more comfortable features?

Hmmm unexpected answers. I really hate 4 way pad's location to control af points a lot. Moving my thumb is time consuming and uncomfortable.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Specs and Images | Camera News at Cameraegg

Any thought of lacking joystick on Pentax camera body so far? I really have hard time with controlling and moving AF point around with Pentax camera which is very uncomfortable to control AF point to focus for various composing. I think Pentax should add at least one joy stick right next to thumb grip like Canon and Nikon.

Cactus RF60 and Godox V850 are nice but Im still didn't decide which one to buy.

I really need HSS feature on the camera and transmitter. Also I need wireless a transmitter feature that I control the setting.

Any thought of Cactus RF60 + V6ii transmitter and Godox V850 + FP R2(if Adorama release this product)?

Wow, didn't know that product at all. I can wait for it! Then all I need to do is to find a speed light which support wireless connect without a receiver. Cactus RF60 looks nice.

Speed light with HSS and a transmitter

I kept looking for one speed light with HSS feature and a transmitter for off camera.

I shot portrait with the ambient light only but I faced the difficulty with controlling the light and I should get a set.

Due to my budget, $200 is my maximum.

I just need a speed light and a transmitter but it seems that Pentax is quite limited compare to other brands.

Well, Cactus RF60 with V6ii seems to be the best choice but if there are any other choices, I would take it.

Not sure if I need TTL since I always worked with a manual one but I def need HSS feature so that I can use wide open aperture.

Any recommendations?

They removed 645z already from their site. So the test score is officially gone. 14.7 EV is not official DR also. Most of sites from google mentioned that 645Z has 14EV.
