Wanted - Acquired: Pentax 67/6x7 Prism

I have a couple of un-metered prisms for the 6x7 body as well as a metered one. I need to pair all the prisms up with bodies and see what spares I have, but there is likely one or two available when you get your body back from Eric.

This Pro Shift Adapter lets you shift 67 lenses on 645 bodies. It is very nicely made and rather expensive, but one adapter gives you shift options with many 67 lenses.

Question re: "reasonable" price for 645N and lens

There has been a recent spike in prices for 645N/645NII bodies and some of the lenses. Be on the lookout for price hikes for Pentax 6x7/67 105mm f/2.4 lenses. The 645N and 67 105mm f/2.4 combination seems to be a hot commodity amongst wedding photographers looking to add film to their kit.

With the A75mm lens, the kit you describe seems high. If it were an FA 75mm, then that would be a decent price.

I think you won today.

PS Great movie and a lovely country.

---------- Post added 04-12-2018 at 08:48 AM ----------

In my stable there is room for both Pentax 645 and 67, plus the Fuji 690 texandrews mentions... oh and the Fuji GX680, the Minolta Autocord is nice too. But like most folks here with many horses in the stable, I can only ride one at a time and if I am feeling ambitious I will rope one or maybe two together and ride with three - but this gets too cumbersome and I feel holds me back from shooting more.

When push comes to shove though, I have my digital Nikon gear along with the Pentax 645N and some glass for it (wait... how did the Widelux sneak in? but it is pretty slender).

You have a very nice line up with the A35, A55, A75 and A150 for your 645. The 67 105mm with an adapter for the 645 make that a really lovely kit! Try and find a Zoerk/Zork (NOT Zorki) PSA Shift adapter for 6x7 glass on your 645 body. A really nice adapter is you want to do some stitching.

Smart move on having the 6x7 shipped right to Eric. I need to send my bodies in to him for some care. There has been a lot of really good, thorough discussions here about glass for the 6x7/67 system. Check out some of the posts by the folks chiming in on your thread as we all as Steve "desertscape" , where he describes the 6x7 glass - these folks really knows their lens design and I have learned a great deal from them.

Rick “you need to buy a Pro-SA adapter” Denney,

Let me know if you are interested in the Zork adapter. I have one and it is beautifully made and you can get it for a lot less than what Herr Zoerkendoerfer is asking. If you are interested in trading some 645 gear (your 645NII??) towards this, then we can meet up locally.

Let me know if you have some interest in the adapter.

Hi Rick,

A year or two ago these fellas in the PNW handled Zork sales for the US market - Nikon CPU lens. I have not spoken to them for a while, so no idea if they still do this.

As to the tripod collar for the A* 300mm f/4 ED-IF this is what I purchased - Orion 7369 76mm ID Telescope Tube Rings.
https://smile.amazon.com/Orion-7369-76mm-Telescope-Rings/dp/B0000XMVJ0/ref=s...ope+Tube+Rings
You receive two rings and I used the other on a beautiful, 15 aperture blade monster - Meyer-Optik Görlitz Primotar 180mm f/3.5 for Pentacon Six (easily adapted to Pentax 645).

When are you headed up? Safe travels.

Yuri

Thank you for the kind words Tex. For the record, Tex is a wealth of knowledge and a great person to deal with!

I work in Halethorpe (a few days out of the week usually) and still live in DC.

The telescope adapter is made by Orion and it acts like a tripod collar for the A* 300mm f/4 ED-IF. This is what I purchased - Orion 7369 76mm ID Telescope Tube Rings.

Denney,

If your location is NoVA = Norther Virginia, then I might have some lenses you can try out. Specifically at the long end and also the FA 45-85mm.
For the long glass I have:
A* 300mm f/4 ED-IF
FA 150-300mm f/5.6
And a long shot because of its massive size would be the 67 M* 400mm f/4 ED-IF

One adapter to consider if you have lots of 67 glass is the Zork/Zoerk ProSA-P67 - I have one of these and it is useable on the 645 bodies with several of the 67 lenses.
Here is a link - Zörk Pro Shift adapter which I also have a nice copy of.

I live in DC.

Yuri

PS For the A* 300mm f/4 - I found a nice tripod mount solution thanks to a clever Pentax 645 shooter. There is a telescope tripod adapter that fits around the A* 300mm perfectly.

Please share! Was this in order to replace one of the dials? The shutter speed dial seem more susceptible than exposure compensation dial to damage. If you were replacing the shutter speed dial, did you replace the entire assembly? Share tips is you were successful - I have a 645N that need a new shutter speed dial (already have the replacement dial).

Have you tried raising the battery contact tabs in the battery pack and the ones in the camera body (that the battery holder makes contact with)?
I have a 645n body that I raised the contacts on that solved a similar issue.
Perhaps over time these contacts become compressed and give intermittent power?

You might want to take a look at something in the price range of the A 45mm f/2.8, but much more versatile and really sharp - the A 45-85mm f/4.5

The FA version has many more reviews on this website and the two share the same optical formula. I have owned both at the same time at one point and no difference noticed (snapshots), but have retained the FA version for use on my 645N.

I did not know it was becoming easier to find - 200F / SP-200... might send it back and keep the 360B - a beautiful lens. Anybody need a nice 200F / SP-200 ?

I have a Nikon TC-16A modified to work with Nikon DSLRs to give AF (kind of, but quite good) and it seems to work quite well with the 360B. A nice combination giving me 480mm f/4.5

The 200F / SP-200 does not fit the 360B. The 360B has a protruding cylinder that interferes with the converter mounting, so while it would appear to be clear of the rear element, this cylinder (houses the rear element? need to take another look) is too long. But I appreciate the link to the review - I had not thought of gutting a 1.4 converter and seeing if that works with the 200F / SP-200 (kills any chance of infinity, but I wonder what the maximum I could focus out to would be. Nice idea!

The 200F/SP-200 does not fit the 360B model of the manual focus 300mm f/2.8 unfortunately. I have the lens and just received a beautiful copy of the 200F/SP-200 converter. Is anyone keeping a database of the serial numbers for this rare converter?

---------- Post added 02-23-2017 at 03:23 PM ----------

Sadly the unicorn-esque 200F (SP-200) does not fit the 360B... I found out just today when my 200F arrived.

Hi bluefin,

I have one in lovely shape along with the original hood (rubber). I find myself not really shooting landscapes with my 645n, so this has really sat (Pelican case) unused.

PM me if you are still looking and might be interested in my copy.

Strange behaviour with the FA 45mm and not wanting to autofocus... I have not experienced this.

I have been shooting with mine for many years now mostly with the FA 75mm (and sometimes with the FA 45-85mm, 67 105mm, FA 150mm and sometimes with the 67 M* 400mm ED monster). I purchased mine as a parts camera and sent it to Pentax USA (when they used to repair these) and had it completely overhauled (new shutter box and new mount were the main components) and it works really well. I have had two backup bodies, but never used them so sold them off recently.

I just received a DELTA adapter that was made for the AERO EKTAR 178mm f/2.5 (taken out of WWII era aerial camera). It appears to be made for an M39 camera mount, but since the camera mount is not permanent I am trying to have a camera plate made for the Pentax 67 mount so I can use it on the 67 bodies as well as the 645 bodies (via 67-645 adapter).

75mm LS for 645

I had one up for sale that lingered for a long time and eventually sold. I still have a 75mm LS and a couple of 645 135mm LS lenses.
They are out there and lately seem to be popping up and then selling very quickly. Prices do seem to be going up, but given the scarcity it is hard to gauge with the LS lenses.

If you don't mind carrying around some extra mass, take a look at this 67 M* 400mm f/4

SMC Pentax-M* 67 400mm F4 ED [IF] Reviews - 67 Telephoto Primes - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

Obviously longer than the 67 M* 300mm f/4

I've found my copy to be beautifully sharp and crispy (nice contrast). I think surftodog (member here) is selling one for a similar price to a mint copy of the 67 M* 300mm would cost. Just a thought...

I was curious, so I threw all the numbers in the very helpful Lens Review (and specifications) section together on one page.

A35, FA35, DFA35 (newest)
Field of View (Diag. / Horiz.)
645 Digital 76 ° / 64 °
645 Film 90 ° / 77 °

FA33-55
Field of View (Diag. / Horiz.)
645 Digital: 80-53 ° / 67-44 °
645 Film: 93-65 ° / 81-54 °

DA28-45
Field of View (Diag. / Horiz.)
645 Digital: 89-63 ° / 76-52 °

DFA25 (same as DA25, except DA does not cover 645 film)
Field of View (Diag. / Horiz.)
645 Digital: 95.5 ° / 82.6 °
645 Film 109 ° / 96.7 °

A35 vs FA35 vs 33-55

I've been wanting to compare the three for some time and had them all in hand a few years ago (A35, FA35, FA33-55)... but schedules were hectic back then (child, job etc.) so it never happened and I sold off all but the A35. I still have the A35 and now have a pristine copy of the FA33-55. Is there anyone in the DC area with a 645D or 645Z who might want to do some comparisons? Especially if you might have the FA35? As further incentive, if you also have the FA400 we can compare that against the 67 M* 400 ED-IF (beautiful, sharp lens).

One other note - under this topic https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/48-pentax-medium-format/87027-post-your-m...at-photos.html you can do searches for various lenses and with the known limitations of looking at files under really low resolution it is still interesting to see what the FA33-55 can do.
