Hello - I haven't posted forever but I look in from time to time to see this thread - I encountered an unusual bird and thought I would share a photo of the little fellow. I had noticed an unusual bird coming to my feeder and couldn't figure out what it was - I was able to get a photo and it appears to be a leucitic Mountain Chickadee - I am posting a typical Mountain Chickadee and then the leucistic version. I've never seen one before...

Snowy Owls come down to winter east of where I live and I try to take a trip or two each year to see if I can find one or two to photograph. I was able to see five different owls yesterday when I went for a tour. I also found a magpie having a conversation with a juvenile retail hawk. It was rather interesting to watch the interaction.
Wishing you all the best in the New Year.
Robert

Thanks for the comment - Sometimes I think these guys rely on their camouflage feathering a bit too much - they think if they stay verrrry still you can't see them:) Makes for a nice stationary subject...

I have not posted in some time and in the last few months I decided to move to the D500 - it was a difficult decision as I have shot Pentax for 40 years but bottom line the camera is just a tool and Pentax has been very slow to provide an upgrade to the K3. So for my wildlife shooting I have made the change. Feeling like a traitor :(

K1 and Tamron 70-200mm
In keeping with the Halloween spirit I was able the catch Little Red Riding Hood's encounter with the Big Bad Wolf - as can been seen in the photos the Big Bad Wolf could only partake in the charade for so long.

I would have thought they would be down for the Kokanee spawn?

Do you have an exceptional sense of smell :) or are they that bad?

Dave anyone in the 300+ thread was familiar with that tree and we all enjoyed the numerous subjects that tree provided you with - I know you kept that lens pretty much trained on that tree and it was unfortunate to see it go but I personally am aware of how heavy that 600 is to pack around and can understand that with a bum shoulder it would be pretty much impossible - I think you still have a very nice 500 though....:)
