Pentax K100D Super

With your specific model of MacBook Air, the Early 2015, you have two options immediately available for transferring images from the K100D Super.

1) the USB cable described on page 13 of the K100D Super manual as "USB cable I-USB17" for the Pentax part number is one option. Just for future reference, this type of cable is readily available at many other sources and is not Pentax specific.
2) the Early 2015 MacBook Air has a built in SDXC card reader. This is the second, and I would suggest, the preferred option. This would allow you to remove the SD card from the camera to transfer onto the computer for editing.

There are pros and cons to each of these methods. Personally, I would leave the cable in my camera bag and use the method of transferring the SD card into the computer.

See page 30 of the camera manual "Precautions When Using the SD Memory Card"

The camera manual refers to SD Card, the Mac specifications refer to SDXC cards. As the K100D Super predates improvements to the SD card standards, your computer should be able to read any SD card in the range of 1 to 32 GB that successfully formats in your camera. Given that you camera creates relatively small images, you maybe be able to recycle some old SD cards that you might already have around.

What I have written above is just the physical means of transferring the images. Next steps involve software.

When you insert a memory card into your MacBook Air, the Mac software sees it as another disk drive. Typically, as the default for MacOS Catalina, the computer will automatically open Apple Photos for you when you insert the card.

The MacBook Air has limited internal storage of either 128 or 256 GB, so you will have to make some decisions about whether you will store your images locally on an external hard drive, or possibly use the Apple iCloud / Apple Photos method. This is another of those pro/con decisions.

Let's start with getting some images off the camera onto the computer, get over the initial hurdles, then see where you want to go from there.

Apparently when I took this picture of the 46 metre long Mystic departing Princess Louisa inlet during the summer of 2003, it was the year she was launched. If anyone is looking for a new vessel, she is now renamed Eliza and is on the market. Asking price 16,495, 000 USD.

Still digging through the old negatives, scanned this from Fuji 400. Challenging to get a good shot from a boat or another moving boat in low light in the rain...

All you need to get your feet wet on a MacBook Air is a USB cable. Although there are many, many possible pieces of editing software that you could use on a Mac, starting with Apple Photos is more than adequate. I'm not trying to sell you on Apple Photos, just trying to ease you into getting started transferring photos onto your computer.

If you can let us know exactly which MacBook Air model you have, I can give you exact specifications for the proper USB cable.

Pondering... never done the Single In thing before. Thinking of giving it a whirl with my F70-210 that I never seem to pull out of the bag, but when I'm reviewing old images that I shot with it I always think they look pretty fine.

This is a multi part test, just wanted to see how it looks. I usually just upload images I want to post but they seem to be kind of washed out after the forum compresses them.

This is a sequence of images shot on the K200D with F 50 1.7, south of Calgary in 2017 when we were getting a lot of smoke from a BC wild fire. Just grabbed a series that looked good to my eye and let ON1 turn them into a panorama.

Also just testing sending it straight to my Smugmug page, then trying a couple of different size link references.
