You might be able to use a LensCoat hoodie or perhaps with some metal hoods (Kalt) you can use a clip-on lens cap at the end of the hood.

Casey Anthony Judged Innocent Of Murder

Well, she was found 'not guilty, which is not at all the same thing as innocent. Apparently a case could not be made, I feel very badly for the people that served on that jury for the decision they had to make.

Anyone who is a parent knows she did not react like a mother with a lost child, or as evidence came in, as a mother with a murdered child. A street cat shows more connection with their offspring than Casey Anthony did.

Biggest Lens Selling Regret
Posted By kathyk

I have made many sales of regret, but for the most part with a little work and time, and money, I end up re-buying almost everything. I've been through the cycle more than once on a few lenses.

I had a like-new with box FA*85 and sold it, my current FA*85 does show wear and I don't have the original hood for it, but it's still wonderful.

But I did happen to buy second-hand the anniversary edition of the K10, and sold it. Now I wish I had not, and have not seen another one since, at least not for what I can afford.

Late to the party, sorry, what is the back story on the lens?

Also, why is there a "j/k" (just kidding?) attached to the sale title, is this a real sale?

If the 18-55 was part of your k7 purchase, I'd just pack it back into the box and keep for for when you sell/upgrade the k7. Also, since it is the WR model, you actually might need it at some point to spare your 12-24 in less then favorable weather conditions.

I have no answers, but a resource - there is a techie/guru you can find over on dyxum forum (dyxum.com) or pbase, Pete Ganzel, he would probably be able to give you some insight on this conversion.

Good luck!

What are some of the best m 42 mount 85mm lenses?

For $250, I would think about the Pentax 85/1.9 Super Tak, the SMC will most likely run your more. The Jupiter 85/2 is also a good one, some softness at wide aperture but for portrait it's very nice. What about the new batches of 85/1.4's (Samyang and the gang)? Do they come in m42 as well as all the other mounts?

Just curious if you tried moving the focus ring as suggested in A Modest Mouse's post, or is the MF definitely not working?

I do think they've changed how they do business (for the better), I recall ordering a lens (I think it was the 77/1.8) from them and it was backordered for several weeks, even though it listed some quantitiy available for sale, then when it did arrive, it was just the Ltd box packaging surrounded by a heavy plastic mailing envelope, yikes. It was fine, just slight wear to the box.

More recently I ordered the 21/3.5 from them, and it was packed really well and shipped out quickly.

Note that the $199 is the DAL version, which account for some of the price difference from their DA non-grey mkt $349/free shipping lens. Still seems like a good price.

FA77mm F1.9 Limited or Takumar 85mm F1.9?

The 85/1.8 is an amazing lens. Price-wise and to some extent, image-wise, I prefer it to the 77/1.8. BUT <-- (big but) I cannot reliably or quickly focus like the 77/1.8, so that made the choice for me. I never tried split screen, but did have the magnifyer on the eyepc.

If you are adept at MF then you might find the 85mm K or m42 perfect for you.

Other than a bit slow to get off, I like the screw-in caps also, because they are less likely to get bumped off in the camera bag.

You can save a few $$ though by buying a generic one,

Hood for the FA* 24mm/2

Thanks for the update, Adam.

Rob1234, I find the 24/2 quite good on digital. I like the focal length quite a bit, and it's nice lens. Very sharp, thought it can happen that focus is either a little off or seems to front or back focus on certain cameras. The only problem I find for myself isn't focus so much as when the lens is wide open, there is kind of a 'glow' to the image. The lens is clean and vermin-free, and it's happened with previous copies anyway, so I'm not sure what the cause is. Stopped down, not noticable.

Input from DA* 200mm Owners: Owners Regrets over 300mm ?

For hand-held, I'd say 200 is a better choice. I suppose 300 is hand-holdable, but it's not easy, especially for any longish time period.

If you are using tripod though, I'd go with 300, I think it's a little more exceptional lens.

Also, you can add 1.7x AF to your 50135/2.8 and get approx. 200, if you want to try it out.

Hood for the FA* 24mm/2

The matching shade for the 24/2 is very quirky and precise in how it mounted, mine is also missing. I would love to find a good replacement.

Right now I use a 67mm screw on rubber type, I can leave it on and remove/replace the lens cap, so it's pretty convenient.

Is the ph-rbb or -rbj or whatever from the SMC 67 lens a definite no-go?

Also, there is a built-in metal hood/shade on the F and FA 135/2.8 lens, it pulls out and retracts, like the 15/4 DA Ltd.

I used to own the 300/4 A*, and still do have the Tokina 90/2.5, I thought I'd mention if anyone has the 1.7x AF adapter, it works really well with both of these lenses and turns them into very nice and a bit more telephoto autofocus lenses.

Poll: Who out there would prefer a K30D?
Posted By kathyk

I have tried almost all manifestation of Pentax dslr, but not the k7, k5 or kr.

I do prefer the K10/20 body to the Km/Kx type, but I would really have to try the k7/5 to see if I might prefer that style/form.

It seems like they always want to make the bodies smaller and chunkier, I wonder if it might be more confortable to make the bodies a little larger, but flatter, kind of like a book, so the grip would be lengthened while the front to back depth would become smaller.

From what I've observed on the k7 & now k5, I think it would be very comfortable for me to hold, but I think I would miss the control layout of my k10.

K55mm f1.8 vs SMC Super Tak 55mm f1.8
Posted By kathyk

I think one difference is how it would behave on the camera, metering. The K mount you would use the green button, for the SMC tak you'd probably use A and preset the lens to aperture you want, it would meter itself.

Also, the taks seems just a bit smoother for focusing, though the K is also very nice to use.

Also, if it's the Super Takumar the coatings are not quite as good as the SMC or K, so double check if it's super takumar or SMC.
