Weather sealing is nothing

Monochrome asked for a reference to specific material from Ricoh/Pentax that says it is weather sealed... I simply cited the source. Mince words all you want, but the bold headline says "Fully Weather Sealed". They are pretty clear to promote this as one of the benefits of the K3 (not to mention, a lot of their other cameras).

That's not to say the weather-sealing provides perfect protection, but there's a reasonable expectation against rain, snow, cold and dust with a weather-sealed body. To argue otherwise is just silly.

That said, I'm still not convinced the original poster's problem has anything to do with rain.

Streets Jaywalking $50 Bucks

"Jaywalking" is not automatically more dangerous than crossing at an intersection. Midblock crossings only have vehicles coming from 2 directions. Intersections have added risks from turning vehicles.

Blocking the left traffic lane and forcing the pedestrian to stand on the narrow median doesn't look very safe, either ;)

Here is our latest litter of foster pups. They are currently about 7 weeks old and should be ready for adoption in a week or so.

From left to right: Gracie - Molly - Dudley - Duke.

These pups were left in a shopping cart at 2 weeks old without their mother. The county "Animal Rescue Center" can't keep pups so they gave a half hour to find them a foster home. We had to bottle feed them for about 2-3 weeks. They are really a fun bunch to have.

Wireless flash question

I think what the OP means is he doesnt want the built in flash to contribute to the exposure.

This is can be done by the custom menu setting called "Flash in Wireless mode" (on the K-7 its #31 on menu 5 but not sure about the k-5)
Disharge the built-in flash as a MASTER and it will show in the expousre (this is the setting "1" ON - the default setting)
Discharge the built-in flash as CONTROL only so it doesnt contribute (this is the setting "2")

The built in flash obviousy has to give a pre-flash to communicate optically to the remote AF540 to make it waork as SOldBear points out. It does still actuallly flash while the shutter is open but not supposed to affect the exposure.

If you take a photo facing a mirror even in the "CONTROL" mode you will see that the built in flash is actually lit in the shot to trigger the main flash at the (hopefully) correct level.

There is, "DC" is a new SDM system, but since there's been no new zoom lenses released since the 18-135 we don't know whether DC is the new system for DA* (or DA for that matter), or whether there will be some other new system for DA*, or whether the existing SDM will remain unchanged for DA*. That's my understanding anyway.
