haha. It was a cloudy day and late in the afternoon. I don't used to do this, but now I process photo based on how I feel and the final photo may or may not reflect the actual scene at the time of capture

PS is destroying photography... Maybe I am just pissed because I have no PS skill :)

I think I can get the same effect in LR sans the butterfly, which is probably one of the key elements of the changed photo.

Thank you both. I will print at home at 13x19 and will make the necessary changes to fit within the gamut of my desired paper (haven't decided if I want to use glossy or semi glossy). I am debating whether to print and store or frame and hang :)

I like the color, the contrast and the subject matter. Framing and POV is fairly generic and not original. Hope you all like what you see :)

This may be a stupid question, but how did you get a complete black background with 1/160 shutter? I assume you fired the overhead strobe at full power and your studio is dark otherwise, right?

I am trying to figure out which one to print or should I print all 4. Printing is expensive so I want to be judicious in my printing.

Upgrading. What display card + monitor for lightroom?

My aging and dying Dell 2005FWP and 2007FWP were up for replacement - blast from the past I am sure.

I looked at LG 34UM95, Asus PA279Q and NEC 272w. Also considered were used 30in Dells from few years back that were well rated. After a few months of consideration, I finally bit the bullet and got the NEC with calibration software and Xrite i1 Display Pro. The cost was significant and I have no budget for a second monitor at this time. However, I am hoping the NEC once calibrated will really allow me to see all the colors and print exactly what I see on the screen. Please tell me I made a good choice :D

It also didn't hurt that NEC was on sale at B&H. I probably would have gone with PA279Q if NEC wasn't on sale.

Travel 1 Day in Paris: Which 2 Photos to Print

The thing is the day I was there was a bad day...overcast, hazy and smoggy. I did the best I could and now I have to resort to either BW or post color enhancement.

I am still trying to figuer out the color pallet for the photos - not sure the current color scheme works now that I had a few days to look at it.

Here is one with a more natural color pallet - I am thinking about going with this look instead... thoughts?

When you are climbing the bell tower, you can step out to the ledges/balcony that wraps around the tower (enclosed by steel wire, of course). I took the pictures while having my camera outside the steel wire enclosure. There are usually quite a number of people on the ledge/balcony, so need to be patient to get to the right spot for those shots :)

The day I was in Paris was actually overcast and had bad lighting overall..had to pull some serious gradient filter magic in LR to make the photos look decent ...;)

1 Day in Paris - Which Lens/Where to Shoot

Going to Paris this Sunday. I have 1 free day to spend wandering the street - I will be in and out of meetings the following week.

Which lens to bring (limited space, as this will be a business trip)?
15/4, 20/3.2, 24/2.0, 31/1.8, 43/1.9, 50/1.7, 55/1.2, 58/1.4, 77/1.8, 100/2.8, 50-135/2.8

What are the shots I really need to take given my limited free time (just a few of the landmarks, but I want to capture the city in a way that a typical tourist would not have).

Thanks!!
