K3 Crazy Mirror Sickness (Mirror Flapping Lockup) - Report Yours Here!

I have had the mirror flapsterbation error twice.

The first time was after about 500 frames. The battery was fully charged at this time.

The second time was after about 10000 frames. The battery was at about 50%.

Both times, the only thing that stopped the flapsterbation was to remove the battery.

I'm on Firmware version 1.01

Bought mine at release. Serial number 4829970.

OK so shiny new K3 arrived today. I'm coming from a K7. I love the extra focus points and the focussing speed is way better. That's very nice and will result in many more keepers. Overall images are great, but not way better than the K7 IMHO. I'm not used to the new layout yet but I think it will work well. I have one gripe about the way they have changed what you need to do set the focus point. I think that was a bit better on the K7. Early days though.

Unfortunately my main model wasn't as cooperative as usual, but here are a few snaps anyway.

Shot with the DA* 50-135:

Shot with the FA 50mm F1.4 with the AF360 flash:

I agree with this, especially after my horrible & expensive experience with the DA* 50-135 SMC. The quality of this thing was really a bad move on Pentax's part.

Guys, my cake eating skills significantly outstrip my cake shooting skills. Maybe you can help.

Any tips would be appreciated, especially lighting tricks, DOF etc.

Cheers

We went on holiday in Vietnam a few years back and here are some of those shots. The place was filthy and polluted. It felt like the earth was crying. In time they'll sort it out. It was a great place to visit, but brace yourself for food poisoning.

The girl in the third shot was the waitress (who couldn't do English) at a truly local restaurant where they kept live monkeys in cages. For $100 you could eat your monkey any way you liked, and apparently brains were the done thing. I thought this stuff only happened in Indiana Jones movies.

The last photo is my (Korean-German) wife, and her reaction when she discovered that they had Rat on the menu. She normally looks happier.

This lunch did not go as planned.
