Hello everyone, I thought you would be interested in knowing about todays Deal Zone Specials. Specials last for either 24 hours or when supplies run out.

Enhanced with an adjustable LED video light and high-speed sync, this Mecablitz 44 AF-2 Digital Flash from Metz is a great addition to any Pentax camera kit. This model is compatible with the system's P-TTL metering for accurate, automatic control over light output, though it still offers full manual control for those who desire it. With a guide number of 144' at ISO 100 and 105mm and a zoom head with a range of 24-105mm, this flash is able to balance size with versatility. For wider optics, a pull-out diffuser panel can expand the coverage to 12mm. The head also boasts the ability to tilt upwards 90 and rotate right 120 and left 180. Additionally, this model can be used as a remote TTL slave with compatible system flashes.

The Mecablitz 52 AF-1 digital Flash from Metz is a shoe mount flash, with an illuminated rear touchscreen, designed to be compatible with Pentax/Samsung cameras featuring P-TTL. This flash also has a high guide number of 170' at ISO 100 and 105mm as well as a built-in USB port that allows for future firmware updates via the internet. A high quality metal base allows quick and easy attachment to the camera. The 52 AF-1 is designed to fully support a Pentax/Samsung camera's P-TTL system. It can be operated as a TTL slave unit that can be controlled by the camera's own built-in commander mode or as a master itself.

Improve your on-camera lighting with the Mecablitz 26 AF-2 digital Flash from Metz. This model is designed to work with Pentax cameras which feature P-TTL. It has a guide number of 85' at ISO 100 and with the telephoto attachment. Integrated into the flash is a wide-angle diffuser which increases coverage from 24-85mm with the use of different attachments. The 26 AF-2 also has an LED video light with 2 output settings as well as the ability to tilt upward 90 for bouncing your light.

K-70 in-camera light pollution filter

Hello;

Like most camera designs today, the K-70 omits an anti-aliasing filter for increased sharpness. There are no in camera filters that I know of. Tiffen makes Hot Mirror filters for most common filter thread sizes in standard and ND varieties which should help with infrared light pollution.

Some of the developer chemistry is cannot be ordered online?

Hello;

As a former darkroom printer (until my darkroom became a playroom for my young son) I understand your frustration. The restrictions in shipping chemicals especially white powdery substances has been in effect since 9/11. The paper work required for the shipment of chemicals is not something our warehouse can accommodate and I apologize for the inconvenience.

For years, I used Photographers Formulary and they have the ability to process the necessary paper work for the shipment of photographic chemicals.

I first began purchasing from them when I first started to develop my prints in Amidol.

I hope this helps.

Hello;

The Pentax 8.5x21 U-Series Papilio II Binoculars has a dedicated strap attachment. I checked with our store bino counter and if have the original strap that came with the Binocular, you could un-loop the old strap and put on this strap (OPSMBISTBLK) instead through the adapter. I am sorry but we do not sell the strap lugs separately.

Hello;

Metabones has pushed back the expected delivery and currently we do not have a confirmed delivery or proposed date. Our buyer has a PO in with Metabones and is still allowing advance orders which means he is confident we will be receiving the adapter.

I am sorry I do not have better news.

microphone options for Pentax KP

Hello;

The Rode VideoMic is probably the most widely used and recognized on camera microphone. It will definitely improve your audio over the cameras built in mic.

The Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro with an X/Y pick up pattern will give you a more natural sounding audio recording.

The Saramonic Blink 500 B2 is a great inexpensive 2 mic interview wireless lav kit if recording 2 people or an interviewer and person of intrest.

The Azden PRO-XR Digital Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System is another wireless lav set up from a major audio manufacturer.

My wife is a singer and I've been recording her bands live performances for a few years now using a Tascam DR40 recorder. Keep in mind that if using a camera mounted mic, if moving during capture the audio will change and is something not that noticeable with a built in mic recording. For me, using the stationary recorder and moving while filming has given me better audio sound with a more professional looking/sounding video. Sync'ing the video and audio is of course a challenge in post.

Hello;

Your lens link is to Adorama and we both list the filter holder kit for $210 and not $125 as your attached image shows so I am not sure what you are asking. If looking for a price break and it's possible. this site will not get credit for the sale as you have to purchase using the PF portal link.

L brackets for K1?

Hello;

Currently the only "L" Bracket made for the K-1 is the Really Right Stuff BK1-L Set L-Plate for Pentax K-1 [BH #REBK1LSET • MFR #BK1 L-SET].

The only one I feel that might work that will be lower in cost is the DPL-04R Universal L-Bracket from Sunwayfoto.

Choosing a Wide Angle Lens for foreground photography

Hello;

A very good way to describe the effect a WA lens has on a subject is making it appear like it's being pushed further away. WA lens enlarge what is closest to it while making distant subjects smaller. You did not mention distortion so I assume you are not bothered by what is referred to as barrel distortion.

The quick fix would be to increase the focal length of the lens you are using. If trying to capture a vast scene into a single frame, you can experiment with shooting segments of your view and stitching them together. When composing a scene with a WA lens, you will want to avoid lines or long streched subjects coming towards the camera, say for example standing in the street and shooting down the road. Also try to avoid low camera angles or shooting with your camera not level to the subject. For example tipping the camera back or pointing it slightly upwards.

Personally when going wider than 24mm's on a full frame sensor, I try and fill my frame with my intended subject as best I can. Too much extra especially in front of the subject can have a negative affect on your image. I recently shot with the Sony 12-24mm lens on an A9 and most of my images were disappointing even though the club was small. The lens captured way to much of the ceiling and floor for my liking. Because WA lenses make distant subjects appear smaller, say a guitar for example. The area the guitar is captured by on the sensor is small, meaning lower resolution. So in this example, a guitar close to the camera would have detail showing all 6 strings, the one further way would not have enough detail to crop as a means of tweaking the image or in my example eliminating some of the floor or ceiling.

A lens like any tool should be matched to the intended job. Using a sledge hammer to tap in a finishing nail to hang a picture may or may not work depending on the person doing the hammering. From my experience, extreme lenses sometimes get over used and it's best to learn when they are needed and use them when appropriate.

I hope this helps.

We have found this to be the best transmitter for HSS with Pentax.

Rokinon Lens Hood Problem

Hello,

Our store floor manager informed me:

Chuck- All Rokinon lens that have a removable lens hood must be turned a full turn to lock into place.

My experience with such hoods is you need to find the groove that the hood's tongue fits into and once turned sufficiently locks into place. The grooves are small and not easily seen at a glance.

I hope this helps.

Hello;

According to our data, only "KA" lenses will support a full frame sensor.

Here is our selection of KA Lenses.

I found this article that shows sample images of DA lenses used on the FF K-1 and the degree of vignetting that certain focal length lenses cause.

Shutter Release Cables for Pentax SV, SPII and 6X7

Hello;

All three cameras use a standard threaded cable release of which we carry dozens. The biggest difference would be the length as they range from a few inches to several feet. Some have locks for long exposures. Personally I never liked cloth wrapped and had the best luck with vinyl.

Threaded Cable Releases
