Thoughts:
A) Ouch, someone dropped the tact ball on that response.
B) Pentax forums has an Exclusive Gallery?
C) Purple fringing should never be the deciding factor on whether a photo is good or not. The world is full of very boring, technically perfect photographs.

How exactly did you put it back together? If a part broke or screws came loose then that would need to be remedied before any
effort to reattach will take.

The K3 and K3 are your two nearest duplicates, so getting rid of one of those would make most sense if you're looking to pare down.
I'd say get rid of the K3 unless you really like having the onboard flash.

As said above, that's not a unique serial number but rather a batch code. So, assuming batches were made on '08', you might still reasonably
complete your sequential run.

Those absolute statements will get you every time....
If APS-C + MF were 'the best', than surely the choice of APS-C + MF +/- FF is even better still????? I can see arguments
for Q + MF is the 'the best', or APS-C digital + 6x7 film is 'the best', or I-Phone + large format sheet film is 'the best'. None of
them are accurate without one simple qualifier......... 'for me'.

LOL. Almost every reason under the sun is given above. The idea that the 12-24 is outdated seems strange to me when 50mm, 85mm,
70-200mm, et al, lenses are still in the stable. The idea that 2 or 3 other lenses might constitute a replacement reminds me of every bad
parody of a photographer loaded down with excessive camera gear.
I'm going for the non-doom forecast that a HD version will be released concurrently with the K-New.

The quick answer is yes, Pentax cameras are built to be disposable after their expected lifespan. But this is no different than most any other
modern electronic device. Modern cameras, (and computers, stereo equip, washing machines, etc), can often be repaired if you have the will
to do so. But as you have discovered, the cost of repairing modern electronic devices is often so close to the cost of purchasing a new item
that in many cases it makes sense to purchase new rather than repair. It's called 'built in obsolescence'

You like what you like, nothing too crazy about that. The 35mm is wider, which may be part of what you like. The 35mm probably has a flatter image,
(sharper corners, less 3d pop), which may be what you like.

Has the K-New been cancelled? The official anniversary date may have come and gone, but there is still a new camera on the horizon.
Were you expecting an uncharacteristically second camera to be in co-development?

I'll nth the recommendation for the MX. Great form factor, feels great in the hand, and the view finder is big & bright.

The only reason Pentax hasn't released a perfect camera is because my perfect camera is different than Fred's, and Fred's perfect
camera is different from Sally's, etc.........
I would prefer a GPS rather than built in flash on the K-New, but lack of either won't cause me to make stink. If the combined
package looks attractive as an upgrade from my K-3, I'll buy it. If not, not. Simple.

That was my point. Nonetheless, I can imagine an impulsive buyer thinking they can get the best of both worlds with this
lens.

Very intriguing. Definitely a lens of interest if it performs well. The promised working distance at those magnification levels is very
attractive.
Not quite certain what Telecentric Performance is........
I wonder how many people will purchase this lens and then be disappointed when it doesn't perform well outside of macro photography?

Harsh. Are you describing Pentaxforums or some other nefarious camera site?
I think most of the criticism voiced here is truly born out of frustration and not a deliberate attempt to trash the brand. Occasionally the
criticism is born of a misguided desire for a Canikony with a Pentax badge in which case said critic is perhaps better off with a Canikony.

Honestly, it doesn't look >that< cloudy. As asked above, what do pictures look like? If they're just a little low on contrast but otherwise fine then
I'd say the lens still has life, even if it has minimal resale value.
