RE: Part 1 of your Post (not Quoted), all I have to say is, Vince Lombardi.

Interesting on Part 2. I have an excess of Limited lenses between 35 and 50 in multiple formats. Willing to be of service.

Pointed "Q-tip"-style swabs for lens cleaning?

I shy away from cotton swabs on lens elements. Cotton scratches more than you think. I have used the other end of the wooden stick from long swabs, angle cut, then used to gently guide a piece of folded, moistened lens cleaning tissue around the edge margin of the element, but I’ve only needed to do that once.

But you have a 645n :D I cannot believe some of these lenses cost less than K-mount A50/1.4.

I have now a pristine 645 w/ cap and strap, 5 Prime lenses with hoods and caps (3 OEM, 1 self and 1 AM Tulip); Pentax 645>K Adapter, an extra eyepiece and eyecup, 3 Film cassettes with cases (essentially all the little $25 bits) for <$900. Itís a SuperPROGRAM on steroids.

The legendary A 645 35/3.5 with Pentax soft case and aftermarket hood for the new film camera. They’re finally coming down in price from the stratosphere.

Just carried out my typical Step 2 of my auto acquisition strategy. mrs monochrome likes her 2015 Mini, so I bought my own used car for cash at the end of the lease. 42 months, 20,158 miles, fully serviced in perfect shape. $12,196.

Had she not liked it I would have turned it in and walked away.

Gordy’s Adjustable Neck Straps They have quick disconnect lug clips and leather body bumpers..

Joby Sling Strap has a nylon slide adjuster and HD rings, so probably not what you want. I use their leather wrist straps with GR and MX-1

I always worry the massive clips on my Peak Design Sling will scratch the LCD while in the camera bag, so I detach it and carry it in a pocket of the bag.

Which means it is never on the camera,

Some day I’ll drop the camera and scratch the LCD. :D

DXO Labs into receivership?

From the link at CanonRumors:

DxO Labs, ďlikely the part of the company dealing with the Nik Collection acquired from Google.Ē

See my comment regarding acquisitions and debt service above. Simple reorganization, with a new payment schedule, some cost reduction and then emergence from Conservatorship. Thatís how it works in the US anyway.

Think about this:
  • (Assume) It cost Yahoo! something to run Flickr

  • (Assume) Verizon didn’t want to absorb that cost

  • (Assume) SmugMug paid something to acquire Flickr (even if their ‘payment’ is only future cost assumption)

  • (Assume) SmugMug doesn’t want to absorb that cost

  • Therefore, SmugMug will charge something for Flickr or SmugMug will be bankrupt.

Just be prepared to pay for what you get.

Inability to service debt (pay interest on a loan) Is the usual reason reorganizations happen. It is the debt (and the payments) that gets ‘reorganized’, Whatever DxO paid Google for the free-use Nik Collection, if they borrowed the money then debt service might be the cause. Perhaps certain manufacturers had been making marketing payments to DxO for camera ratings and in the recent dSLR volume contraction ceased making those payments - instant cash flow imbalance. Something like that always seems to happen in these deals.

Now think SmugMug buying Flickr - a free service - from Verizon. What could go wrong?

I dropped my 0000831 FA43 (fell out of my pocket). I was horrified. Eric emailed (in his usual economical way), "Easy fix. $40."

Tieing a Royal Wolf or Muddler Minnow (or Elk Hair Caddis) with one of Brian Setzer’s former roadies, my future brother-in-law and a bottle of single malt as the sun goes down. Not a bad way to spend an evening. ;)

Nice find. Takes me way back. I have the 45, of all things.

My wife’s next door neighbor growing up was later a roadie for The Tomcats before they became The Stray Cats, went to England and Stray Cat Strut was released. Apparently the lifestyle around Bryan Setzer was Cray Cray, so (while I was dating her) he had skipped England, moved home to ‘clean up’ and we became fly fishing buddies. After some years traveling the world to fish and write fly fishing articles about his experiences, he is now an historic restoration tuck pointer. Interesting guy.
