Thank you very much! I woke up early to get some shots before there were many other people out on the beach. My later shots from that morning have more people in them.

Here is a tree that was washed up on the beach on Hilton Head Island. This is an HDR taken with a K-x and the DA-L 18-55 Kit lens. I posted a similar but different shot from the same morning over on the Kit Lens thread.

Edit: This was taken with a K-x with the 18-55 DA-L

Some beautiful images on here!!! Here is an HDR shot from Hilton Head Island of the sunrise taken with a DA L 18-55 and a K-x. I am not a big HDR guy, but enjoy playing around with it sometimes...

Received my lens back today. It seems to be working great! So from the day I sent it to the day I got it back it was just a day less than 3 weeks. Better than I was expecting.

What should I buy, DA 35 mm 2.4 or DA 50 mm 1.8

I would say of the two the 35 would be better for you. It was my first prime and I used it exclusively on a trip to Washington D.C. when I first got it. I got some great photos with it. I would think the 50 would not be wide enough for general travel purposes.

Checked this morning and my lens has now shipped. Looks like it just shipped this morning because the tracking number is not showing up in UPS's system yet. They did charge me the full amount that they quoted me when I sent the lens in, which was about $100. Kind of rough paying that much to fix a lens that is not worth much more than than, but still cheaper than buying a new one. I will update here again when I receive the lens and get to test it out.

So, just for recap, sent the lens on the 7th, they received it on the 10th, and shipped it on the 23rd. I would say that all in all, considering some of the horror stories in this thread that is not too shabby!

I used that form and didn't communicate with them at all. I selected the option to print out my own label, and then took it to a FedEx store and had them ship it out for me. I posted in this thread a few days ago that their system has my camera listed in it as "In Repair", so at least I know that they got it and are tracking it. Who knows if they are actually working on it or not. As I said before, I sent it on the 7th I believe. On their order tracking page it says that it was received on the 10th and is in the "In Repair" status as of the 13th.

I recently sent in my 35mm 2.4 to get the focus ring repaired (it was so stiff that the screw drive on the camera couldn't turn it). Sent it on the 7th I believe. On their order tracking page it says that it was received on the 10th and is in the "In Repair" status as of the 13th. I will keep you all updated as to how it goes from here....

DA 35 2.4 Stiff Focus

Well, I went home and played with it some more off of the camera to see if I could find any visible damage. Couldn't see anything, and the focus is still very stiff. So, I just bit the bullet and ordered a new one. I figure I will send the other for repairs at some point and if isn't too expensive I will get it fixed and then just sell one. I can't afford right now to wait for the broken one to be repaired because my wife is pregnant with our first kid, and she could go into labor any day. I really want this lens to be able to capture the day as the only other fast lens I have is an A 50 1.7. Manually focusing while my wife is in labor, people are holding him for the first time, etc. will not be an option. Thanks for the help everyone!

DA 35 2.4 Stiff Focus

I have taken it off of the camera and moved the focus ring and it is still very stiff. The focus ring does turn and the lens elements do move as they are supposed to. I am thinking that it is probably an issue inside the lens, maybe the ring got off of it's track (not even sure if this is possible) or there is some debris in there affecting it. However, when I get home I will have a closer look and see if I can see any possible damage from the outside.

DA 35 2.4 Stiff Focus

I meant to put this thread in the General Technical Troubleshooting forum, but clearly I failed miserably at that... If it needs to be moved I am fine with that.

I don't believe it has anything to do with how it is mounted on the camera if that is what you mean. I took the lens off of the camera and tried turning the focus ring and it was still very hard to turn. Thanks for the response though!!

DA 35 2.4 Stiff Focus

Just tossed my DA 35mm on my camera recently after having not used it for a couple of months and there seems to be a problem with the focus ring.

The camera's motor will not turn it at all. I heard it trying but it would not turn. Then, when I tried turning it manually I could do it, but it was VERY stiff. I took it off of the camera and haven't used it again for fear of damaging the camera's motor. I found a thread on here where someone was experiencing what seemed to be the same issue, but that had just gotten their lens from B&H and I have had mine for a while, so no returning.

Anyone have any idea if this si something I can try fixing, or if I need to send it in. If I need to send it in for repairs, where is the recommended place to send it? Will it be expensive? I only paid maybe 120 - 130 for the lens, so it might end up being a better idea to just get a new one if the repair is going to be costly...

Thanks for any help!!
