135 back for the 645?

Yes it can be done like the method you have described.

However you have raise the first issue is where will the position of the frame be.
Issue number two is 120 film is rolled with backing paper. Most attempts at rewinding back to beginning would cause the film and paper to buckle(bubble) which will cause winding, film flatness problems and light leaks.

Greetings and Question re. SL66 lenses

SL66 lenses doesn't have focusing helicoid. The focusing is done with camera base bellows. Such an adapter of SL66 to Pentax 645D would require a focusing helicoid or some kind of mechanism.

Sunpak 120J and Qflash T2 Bulbs - Interchangeable?

I had Norman, Lumedyne, Quantum T's and Sunpak 120J. While the tube plugs into each other they are not 100% compatible. Your experience mirrored mine. The generic part number of the tubes are the same, as well as the socket on the flash.

I needed to code the base of the tubes so my staff and I know which one goes where.

There used to be a generally available servo activated mechanical plunger to cable release socket. It was more prevalent in the motion picture industry. Haven't seen it in any retail store this millennium.

Two note to the discussion:

Quality of the SS 120 reel makes a difference in ease of loading, Hewes/Nikor/Omega are some that I used and would recommend.

To use the P67 90/165 Leaf shutter lens you need to devise a way of tripping the shutter (actuate the diaphragm stop down lever)

Bron had an AC powered unit that give you 5 full power 600J flash per second. It was not cheap and not many were sold. Most of the reputable rental houses world wide stock it for rental. It was not something one would invest in but rent on a job demand basis.

There are Quantum, Lumedyne units (US) that will give you more power and faster recycle. Bowen in UK has a battery powered unit at 600WS.

The weight of the circuitry means and external powerpack/supply and the flash head on camera. Also the cost is higher.

Film Storage

If you leave a partial roll in the camera for a while, the frame after the one at the film gate might have a little bit of flatness issue due to being in extended curl up state as it is bend to the shape of the roller before entering the film gate.
I just fire off a blank shot after the shot at the film gate just to avoid any issue of having a prized shot ruined.

67 lenses on 645D

I have used only one 67 lens on the 645n, nII and D. It is the 400M*EDIF which is rare and one available from a fellow forum member right now.It is a great sharp and fast lens, period. Outperforming the 645 400's.
The best feature is due to the larger mount and registration distance Pentax has been able to put the aperture linkage into the mount which makes 67 lenses very usable on the 645's as manual focus lenses.

If you have 67 lenses on the longer end it is a great way to put the lens in use. However with the prices of A series 645 lenses I would not go and buy 67 lenses just for this purpose.

Pentax made in 645 mount since 1984:

A series, manual focus: 35 45 55 75, 75LS, 120M, 135LS, 150, 200, 300, 400, 600, 1.4X, 2X, 45-85, 80-160

FA series, auto focus: 35, 45, 75, 120M, 150, 200, 300, 400, 33-55, 45-85, 55-110, 80-160, 150-300.

D-FA series: 55, 25.

I have used both the 45/2.8 in A and FA and find the sharpness nest on the 45-85 at 45 setting.
I hvae also used the 75LS on a 645D with full leaf shutter function.

The price is what the market will bear.

Due to the simplicity and value of the K1000 and SP1000/F before it was the recommended basic camera for many photography curriculum. Due to this demand K1000 was still being produce past the M series product life.

After it was finally discontinued at the onset of digital used K1000 commanded a premium price relative to other used 35mm SLRs.

Titl shift lens for the 645D

Pentax never mad a TS lens for the 645 series.

The Hartblei is good, stopped down but not Pentax SMC quality.
It is a simple, fast solution without taking out the 6X9, Super Angulons and Super Symmars which is the perfect solution given that time on your side.

Manual Focusing Secrets

Verifying the diopter adjustment can also be done viewing the markings on the screen (I use grids) on a bring light source.

With the user adjustable viewfinder diopter I use a drop of loctite to keep the slider/barrel from shifting.

Manual Focusing Secrets

For shot where it is dim and I know that my lens's distance scale is correctly calibrated (I am sure that your 35mm was checked in 2009); I use a good laser distance measuring device to measure distances for closest and furthest points of focus. I use a Bosch distance finder which has a laser point that you can pinpoint the focus point and it will measure that distance.
This is a modern modification of my Grandfather's method which he taught me using an optical rangefinder.

Sticky Shutter on 645

MAYBE:
The camera was sitting around for quite a while and the shutter mechanism chain, lube etc has semi seized.
Working the shutter might loosen them up. If not then the closing mechanism of the shutter curtain needs adjustment, repair or replace.

It was a practice to fire off the shutter in lenses that are not used frequently every few months to keep them in shape.
I use to every two month, put some vinyl on the turntable, pour myself a nice single malt and fire away with all my lenses.
