I've never focused (no pun intended) on flowers too much before, so thank you to the Pentax Forums contest for the theme! I had a great time this month photographing flowers. Hope you all like this one!

I believe you can slide a card under the flash to push the little catch that holds the flash down?

Subbing to this thread as I'm looking to do the same operation myself sometime this summer!

I just fixed a mirror lockup problem on my program plus by gently pushing downwards (towards the bottom place) on the two arms of the shutter curtain. mirror popped back down. Not sure how or why that worked, but I found the tip on the forums and it worked. Maybe it would help?

Submitting my entry for your consideration!

I found this cute old model Ford wagon lying around, and I was drawn to how much everything about the car seemed to represent travel and adventure. I spent a couple weeks trying out some ideas using the model wagon before I settled on this one. I stuck the model car onto a globe with a little bit of hot glue, lit it from one side and added some bounce from the other side, and then took a separate longer exposure to make the stars via flashlight-painting the backside of a black sheet of paper poked full of holes.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's submissions for this stay-at-home theme!

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II LD Aspherical [IF]

Asking Price
215.00 USD

Item Location
Washington, D.C. (United States)

Item Description
Selling my well maintained copy of the Pentaxian favorite Tamron 17-50 2.8 lens. B+W 010 MRC filter optional, included for an additional $20 $15.

This lens is a very sharp lens. In full transparency, when I first purchased it used there was an occasional issue with the autofocus, but I sent it in to Tamron where it received a full repair and cleaning. It has proven fully reliable and I would trust it for any job.

I originally purchased it from another forum member as an upgrade from the kit lens I got with my first Pentax body, a K-30. I bought it for the bright aperture, and to have a sharper lens - it did not disappoint on either front! The difference between the Tamron and the kit lens is noticeable, especially for landscapes. My gear preferences have shifted and I now shoot with a set of limiteds (15, 21, 43). The Tamron has been sitting on the shelf long enough for me to realize that I no longer need the flexibility of a zoom for the photography I do.

Some pictures below, and below that some sample photography with this lens.

K-mount speedbooster to m43

Is this laughable or plausible??

I had an idea: adapt either Pentax M43 or full-frame Pentax K-mount lenses to Canon EF mount, and then putting that combo on a a Viltrox or Fotodiox speedbooster, to adapter to a micro four thirds camera. This is for video, mind you.

The (hopeful) result: a reasonable focal length that is not too telephoto with the crop factor of m43, and a faster aperture to help shoot at lower ISOs. All with well-built Pentax glass that has buttery smooth focus rings (although no declicked aperture).

A Pentax 50mm 1.4 m42 lens would be effectively reduced by 0.71x to be a 35mm equivalent, and a stop brighter aperture would make it an f/1 equivalent.

Is this a ridiculous idea or could it actually work with reasonable results?

Rode Videomics have a built-in pre-amp that essentially pipes a hotter signal to your camera. This allows you to turn the recording level of the camera down, minimizing the effect of the poor camera pre-amps on the audio quality.

If you choose to go for a standard shotgun microphone instead of a videomic (more versatile in case you have other uses for it), I would recommend the Sennheiser MKE600 over the Rode NTG2 - that the route that I went. It's a slightly 'louder' output signal than the rode (better for DSLR recording as mentioned above), and better quality sound as well. It's not as well known but better (kinda like Pentax!)
