New to me AF-540FGZ

To put it simply, I can't afford to buy new. I just happened to look online at a store in NYC and they had the aforementioned 540 that was 10 dollars more then a 360 that is for sale here on the forum, that needs tape to hold the battery door on, that I was thinking about buying. Also both the 540ii and 360ii used are generally priced more then what I can afford.

For how well it performs, that may take awhile to follow up on. I am not a big flash user but I do have other flashes though they are not native to Pentax. I also know a good flash is great when you need one and the pop up may not have the power for what you are shooting.

In my case. a K7 and a K5IIs.

I would like to do some portraits. At the same time though, I have been at conventions where a flash has been helpful.

Super Glue can also be added to this list.

Coke might as well be added too. It's not the official name but a lot of people use it when referring to a cola drink.

Hey all. Just a quick question.

I got a AF-540FGZ flash that is used. I got it for what I think was a good price and when I received it, it looks new. So after downloading the manual and looking through it, is there anything else I need to know about that flash? I have used flashes before but this one looks like it has a lot more to it then what I am used to.

I don't normally open up the profile of members. I go by what is listed over here <------ to the left. Also, the seller in the link I posted is from Canada not the US. Shipping from Canada might be cheaper but I don't know.

I was making a suggestion on the information I had.

I would say get another lens. Even trying a DIY, I think you would have problems getting parts.

At the moment here on the forums, there is a 50 1.8 for sale. The same seller on the same page also has a Pentax F 50mm 1.7.

AF Lenses, F, FA, DA, DFA, 6 Primes, 8 Zooms, 18mm-250mm, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina - PentaxForums.com

I am not connected with mightymike. He does have a lot og good items for sale though.

Just to develop film, what TwoUptons listed is all you need. Now, if you are going to print pictures, that is when you need the full darkroom.

Not staged. Virtual Railfan is a channel on youtube that streams, live different locations of the different railroads for failfans. Sometimes they will snip out sections of video to post that shows interesting things, or like in this case, people being stupid. Most of the time when they post little bits of the live feed as videos, it's as a "grab bag" of different things.

VR also runs a web sight of the cams they have that is not on youtube. Virtual Railfan, Inc. – We bring the trains to you!

A lot of people have been conditioned that if needing to run away from danger, they will run in the same direction that the danger is moving in. There are plenty of videos of people cutting down trees and the tree falls not the direction they intended. As the tree falls, somebody will run the same direction that the tree is falling in and the tree hits them.

Moving in a 90 degree direction is normally faster and safer but people sometimes don't think about that.

Sports teams - Trading Cards

I would suggest to print them yourself. Get a good photo printer (I like Canon printers myself).

Use a photo paper that can be printed on both sides. Red River Paper offers a few types.

If you are looking at 1 or 2 photos per child, put different children photos on the same 8X10 paper.

And get a paper cutter to cut the photos apart.

Yes, this will run cost up a little because of the cost of ink and paper. At the same time, I suspect that any printing lab will have a minimum amount of photos per person. For trading cards my guess would be 8.

Do not know what to think on this one. Quite disturbing RE; Ricoh

This thread is also bringing up another subject that nobody has said yet, and could be why Ricoh will not sell parts directly and the repair centers are not allowed too.

That's called right to repair.

A lot of companies are fighting and trying to stop congress from passing right to repair laws. Apple is one of the biggest ones that is fighting. If you would like to see what Apple is doing, look up Louis Rossmann on youtube.

If you don't know what right to repair is, in a nutshell, the law states that when a person buys an item (cell phone, camera, car, tractor, ect) the person has the right to obtain parts, diagrams, and whomever the person decides to repair the said item. If item is under warranty, then you send it to authorized repair centers. Where the right to repair comes in is when an item is out of warranty. If you have a cell phone with a broken screen, you should be able to take it to anybody that can fix broken screens. That person should also be able to get the parts to repair the broken screen easily.

This is why Ricoh should be looking carefully at how they are selling parts.

Listen to this SDM Squeak - what should I do?

I'm sorry for this. I am a bit tired so the first thing I thought when hearing the squeak was, did you feed the mouse in the lens lately? They start squeaking if they don't have enough food.

Like I said, sorry.

On another note. Is it possible that the squeak is not the motor, but another part that moves when focusing?

PayPal Credit?

I'm am not sure how it all works. I think a paypal credit is just a mastercard or visa card that can be used anywhere. From what I understand, paypal actually works like a b&m bank. I know if you leave money in your paypal account, I think, paypal opens a money market account (?) and earns money from the interest of your account.

Back to the credit question, it's just a mastercard or visa with paypal's name on it.

I'm slightly in the camp of sending it back. At the same time, I think testing it before sending it back would be the way to go. If the crack does not affect any picture, I think trying to get the seller to refund a large portion of the sale price could be a good thing.

HI there, and a question about using a 64Gb card in a K-5

Any small card will work. 2, 4, 8 gb will work.

Do not just format in your computer. There is something about the file directory that is different between formatting in a computer and in the camera.

If you want to format SD cards in your computer, then use this; SD Memory Card Formatter - SD Association

This is software from the SD association and is made to format sd cards.

Ok, depending on where you are on this world, today is either Christmas or the day before.

If money was not much of an object, what would you like to get for Christmas that is not photography related?

I'll start, and to be honest, I could make a very large list of things I want, but I'll keep it small this time.

At the moment, I happen to work at a large home improvement store and as I walk around the store stocking shelves, I can see all the things the company sells. The store where I work has a stack on tool chest and top box that I really like so that would be on my list along with a compound miter saw.

So, how about you? What would you ask for or get if you could?
