Here are some quasi macro shots of a gadget I've had for a couple of decades, a gadget illuminated by late afternoon sun through a west window. The perceptive observer will notice reflections of a stunningly handsome photographer.

EM, I really like this composition with the in-focus region in the upper right. Also, each petal is wonderfully delineated!

I like this shot - rather dark, raw condition of the Olds against the bright sky. Back in the '60s, my best friend owned a 442 of this vintage.

Nice set of photos. I particularly like the shot of the Camaro - I owned one of that vintage that I bought new in '75. It had a 4-speed manual transmission and 4-bbl 350 putting out a paltry 155 horsepower - the most powerful engine Chevy offered in the car that dismal year.

I agree, Remco - striking photos! Around the world, we humans try to push back the Second Law of Thermodynamics, which essentially says: "You can't win, you can't draw and you can't leave the game." :)

Beautiful landscape, Al. The Connecticut River offers a lot to see - over the last couple of years, we've enjoyed a trail near Windsor Locks, a visit to the Gillette Castle and a combined railroad/river tour that originates near Essex - a town worth seeing for its own sake.

Misc I Caught a Shifty Character . . . . .

Like you and your family, we've owned an eclectic group of cars during our over 50 years of marriage: Fords and a Merc, Chevies, Toyotas, Mazdas, a Honda, an Acura, a Nissan, BMWs and Porsches. I don't know what'll be next, but it'll probably replace my 911. I'm interested in the new, 992 generation of the Porsche 911 - perhaps an all-wheel drive coupe, and - of course - the Corvette really interests me. Also, at age 73, maybe I should try something very different - like a BMW M5 or Mercedes AMG E53. On the other hand, like you - I may do nothing for a while. I love all three cars in the garage and all are very low mileage vehicles, so I may just enjoy what I have a bit longer.

You'll love that K-1/24-70 combo - it should be terrific for car shows. I use my K-1/28-105 for all kinds of things, but it works especially well for photographing cars at medium to short range. I use it at concours and similar shows where the shots are meant to be real keepers, but for things like the Houston Auto Show I've found my phone to well suited to the task.

Anyway, have fun with your new lens!

Jer

:lol::lol::lol: At least, you're not shiftless . . . . . . :) Thanks for indulging my silliness, EM.

Do I detect a bit of brand loyalty? :D

I'll be going to the Houston Auto Show next week, and - among other things - I hope to see a C-8 Corvette in the flesh. I don't lug a camera around at this show anymore, since I hop in and out of cars so frequently, but I'll be using my iPhone to photograph the "good stuff."

Thank you. "Shadow fingers" is a perfect expression for what I was trying to grab in this shot (along with playing with a new lens :o).

BTW, my daughter (and granddaughter and son-in-law) live in CT, so we get up your way pretty frequently. We love New England - my wife and I lived in Boston for a few years in the '70s and we often took jaunts to Mystic and other places in CT. Our daughter lives north of Hartford and not too far from Lime Rock (cool spot for a car guy like me).

Jer

Hey, Todd - thanks much. I'm having a lot of fun with this little lens.

I appreciate the nice words, EM. :)
