I hastily read that as purple fringe. haha Guess I need another cup of coffee.

The purple background is different but I do like the photo, crisp and clean.

Congratulations on your first manual focus lens, hopefully it's not your last. Some of those old Sigma lenses are hidden gems, as are many manual Pentax lenses.

I don't have a K-1 (can;t afford or justify one) but I can attest to the M 35-70/2.8-3.5 on my K5iis. For a $60 lens, it's simply remarkable. The only downside is they very seldom come up for sale. Another option is the K 30/2.8, more expensive and hard to find but the rendering is oh so beautiful.

Welcome Eric, from a fellow Buckeye and Pextaxian up in the Toledo area. Yes, the K-5 is a great camera but the K-3 is even better. I own the K-5iis version along with a K-3, love them both.

We look forward to your participation in the forum.

We can surely get together, I'll also let you play with a few lenses. One thing, I don't own a K-1 so I'm not really familiar with how it operates but we could likely figure it out. At least I can show you the basics.

Regarding the manual lenses, I suspect the lens used was a non Pentax lens with the cursed Ricoh pin. You can read about it here:

Welcome from a fellow Buckeye, Toledo area here. Congratulations on the new K1 + FA* 50, I understand that's a great combination. IF you're new to photography, you came to the right place. The forum is a wonderful meeting place where you can get plenty of helpful information. Regarding a new wide angle lens, have you considered an older manual lens? It could help you in your advancement in photography, since you will be 'forced' to learn the basics. Furthermore, they are relatively inexpensive. Check out the lens review section of the forum at the K, M and A series lenses. Also search the Lens Sample Photo Archive for examples from various lenses. Finally, don't be afraid to ask questions. Folks here want to help you.

I don't know what 'voice' lessons you've taken but the results are outstanding. I continue to marvel at your photos and wonder how much time you spend on the craft, both behind the camera and in post. The thing I really like about your work is the natural beauty of every photo, no need to manipulate through pp.

Pentax 600mm: F* vs FA*
Posted By onlineflyer

From the lens review section of the forum F 600mm f4: Description: This lens is a fast, long telephoto lens. It is optically identical to the later FA* version. Furthermore, both have 2 ED elements and same exact weight.

I suspect is it much like the F 300mm vs FA 300mm, same optics with some differences in lens body. I would rely more on sample photos than the reviews when comparing the two lenses due to the fact that reviews are more subjective. For example, look at the reviews of the M 300mm/4 versus the A* 300mm/4. The M has higher ratings BUT the A* has the same optics. So why the difference? Opinion rather than photo analysis.

SMC F 28-80 and FA 80-320?

As others have stated, the FA 80-320mm is not a bad lens optically but it suffers from quality issues. The silver version is said to be better than the dark gray/black copy. Lens creep is terrible (at least my was), if you point it down there is absolutely no tension to keep the lens from fully extending. If you're looking for cheap with good optics, it might fit the bill. Given my experience, I'd only consider a silver version in the $50-75 range, at most.

Hi Squirrel Mafia, saw your post this evening and want to thank you for all your work. I have a question on the profile on the google drive. Are the profiles dated 2-20-19 all inclusive or are there additional profiles in the previous file? I installed both but files only get the profiles from 2-20 when I run the program.
