Hello;

Your lens link is to Adorama and we both list the filter holder kit for $210 and not $125 as your attached image shows so I am not sure what you are asking. If looking for a price break and it's possible. this site will not get credit for the sale as you have to purchase using the PF portal link.

L brackets for K1?

Hello;

Currently the only "L" Bracket made for the K-1 is the Really Right Stuff BK1-L Set L-Plate for Pentax K-1 [BH #REBK1LSET • MFR #BK1 L-SET].

The only one I feel that might work that will be lower in cost is the DPL-04R Universal L-Bracket from Sunwayfoto.

Choosing a Wide Angle Lens for foreground photography

Hello;

A very good way to describe the effect a WA lens has on a subject is making it appear like it's being pushed further away. WA lens enlarge what is closest to it while making distant subjects smaller. You did not mention distortion so I assume you are not bothered by what is referred to as barrel distortion.

The quick fix would be to increase the focal length of the lens you are using. If trying to capture a vast scene into a single frame, you can experiment with shooting segments of your view and stitching them together. When composing a scene with a WA lens, you will want to avoid lines or long streched subjects coming towards the camera, say for example standing in the street and shooting down the road. Also try to avoid low camera angles or shooting with your camera not level to the subject. For example tipping the camera back or pointing it slightly upwards.

Personally when going wider than 24mm's on a full frame sensor, I try and fill my frame with my intended subject as best I can. Too much extra especially in front of the subject can have a negative affect on your image. I recently shot with the Sony 12-24mm lens on an A9 and most of my images were disappointing even though the club was small. The lens captured way to much of the ceiling and floor for my liking. Because WA lenses make distant subjects appear smaller, say a guitar for example. The area the guitar is captured by on the sensor is small, meaning lower resolution. So in this example, a guitar close to the camera would have detail showing all 6 strings, the one further way would not have enough detail to crop as a means of tweaking the image or in my example eliminating some of the floor or ceiling.

A lens like any tool should be matched to the intended job. Using a sledge hammer to tap in a finishing nail to hang a picture may or may not work depending on the person doing the hammering. From my experience, extreme lenses sometimes get over used and it's best to learn when they are needed and use them when appropriate.

I hope this helps.

Hello;

I am sorry to say, we have no options to use HSS with either the Metz or the Yongnuo flashes.

We have found this to be the best transmitter for HSS with Pentax.

Rokinon Lens Hood Problem

Hello,

Our store floor manager informed me:

Chuck- All Rokinon lens that have a removable lens hood must be turned a full turn to lock into place.

My experience with such hoods is you need to find the groove that the hood's tongue fits into and once turned sufficiently locks into place. The grooves are small and not easily seen at a glance.

I hope this helps.

Hello;

According to our data, only "KA" lenses will support a full frame sensor.

Here is our selection of KA Lenses.

I found this article that shows sample images of DA lenses used on the FF K-1 and the degree of vignetting that certain focal length lenses cause.

Shutter Release Cables for Pentax SV, SPII and 6X7

Hello;

All three cameras use a standard threaded cable release of which we carry dozens. The biggest difference would be the length as they range from a few inches to several feet. Some have locks for long exposures. Personally I never liked cloth wrapped and had the best luck with vinyl.

pentax 645D holster bag

Hello;

I asked a floor manager in our store to test a few options:

The black ACPRO650 Standard DSLR Holster from Ape Case is a compact, affordable way to tote around your DSLR with a lens up to 6.5" (16.5 cm). The water-resistant nylon exterior covers a padded Hi-Vis Yellow interior that makes seeing inside the holster easier in marginal light.

The black Digital Holster 20 V2.0 from Think Tank contains a unique "Pop Down" feature that allows the lens hood to be kept on the camera held in shooting position. For the active shooter, this is a real time-saver. The case is made to hold a regular-sized DSLR such as a Canon 5D Mark II, 7D or Nikon D700 with a standard zoom attached or when the "Pop Down" feature is employed, it can accommodate a DSLR with a 70-200mm f/2.8 with hood reversed.

Case recommendation for Oben CT-2491 with gimbal head

Hello;

I asked a store manager to test a few options. This bag will fit but caution against: "greater stresses at the head connection threading on taller/heavier heads when traveling."

The Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging MBAG90PN Padded Tripod Bag (Black) is a padded ballistic nylon bag designed to carry Bogen/Manfrotto tripod with a head up to 35" long. As with all soft-sided bags, an item's girth may reduce this number. Thermoform padding holds the tripod in place and protects it, especially the head, during transport. It also serves a double purpose by protecting the tripod's hard edges when it is carried. The zipper extends down the length of the bag, but also fully opens the top end of the bag. The end opening allows for faster "quiver" style extraction and insertion of the tripod. The inner pocket holds accessories (such as video head pan bars).The bag is tapered to follow the shape of the tripod and head.

Which Bag or Case

Hello;

I asked a floor manager in our store to give me a few suggestions.

The Lowepro Flipside 300 Backpack (Black) is a tough, 600 denier water-resistant, polyester backpack that protects digital photo equipment against moisture and abrasion. The back compartment entry gives safe, easy access to camera gear, plus extra security. The outer storage pocket holds digital accessories and personal items, and the removable accessory pouch holds cables, chargers, manuals and other key accessories. It is carried by a backpack harness with a detachable waist belt. There is an adjustable sternum strap for comfort.

Take your photography gear on the road with the versatile, well made, black StreetWalker V2.0 Backpack from Think Tank. Inside the spacious, padded, zippered main compartment are touch-fastening dividers for organizing a gripped pro DSLR with attached 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, up to four additional lenses, a flash, and the included rain cover. Under the lid are clear-mesh zip pockets for accessories. The rear of the pack features a zippered compartment for your up to 10" tablet. On the front of the pack are an adjustable quick release strap and a tripod strap, for attaching a medium-sized tripod.

Comfortably carry your pro DSLR with a 70-200/2.8, 80-400, or other long lens attached with the black C850 Extra Large Holster Case from Kinesis. The holster also accommodates your lens hood in the ready-position, and a select flash or prime lens that fits in the front, exterior zip pocket. Large zipper pulls make accessing gear fast and easy. Under the lid is a zip pocket for small items such as memory cards, lens cloths, and caps. Two, Siamese SlikClip Buckles are included for attaching old-style Kinesis TwinBuckle Pouches.

Purchased Metz 26 AF-2 for Pentax GR on advice of B&H; GR won't recognize it

Hello;

According to Ricoh's web site, they list a flash that can do TTL. "This external flash can do TTL flash using pre-flash."

I do not see they list any type of TTL functionality for the GR. There is this notation: " External TTL flashes (GF-1) will not fire when using [Interval Composite] and [Interval Shooting]."

The manual indicates "Use only flash units with one signal terminal" only the GF-1 will provide TTL so the advice of purchasing the Metz flash was incorrect. Please contact our Customer Service Dept to set up an RMA.

I apologize for the oversight.

Pre-orders and shipping

Hello,

Sorry for the delay.

The bank that backs your credit card requires a signature upon delivery. Some areas Fed Ex or UPS may deem safe and leave a package but a signature is required and we cannot wave that.

Generally speaking for an advance order or back ordered item, as inventory is received in our warehouse pending orders are prep'd and shipped our first in the order they were placed. We do not tally customer orders nor know how many pieces Pentax will ship us in the early weeks so I could not estimate when an order placed today would ship.

When an item is in stock, we can delay the shipping. You can instruct your sales professional when placing the order or if using the PF portal, contact Customer Service once you have an order number and request the shipping be delayed.

Your card would be charged when the order ships and there is no penalty to cancel an order, except if a special order and stated on the items product web page. The K-1ii is not such an item.

Hello;

Yes, keep the battery in the body as loose batteries are getting a lot of attention from shippers lately.

The lens can be attached or if you have all the caps [body and lens front and rear] they can be separate. My thinking is one piece is easier to securely pack than two separate.

Whatever works best for you.
