Yep! My screwdrive lenses are great at AF.S which is all I usually need, but AF.C starts showing the limitations of the technology and I'm happy to see Pentax going for high-performance motors.

It seems that Ricoh wants to make best DSLRs, since that's all they do they do in this format why not. I wonder what other little surprises there might be besides the optical VF.

Spotmatic Problem - Black in Frame

It is most likely that your second shutter curtain is faster than the first curtain and is "catching up" to it, closing the shutter. Sometimes you can avoid the problem by not using your 1/1000 of a second and maybe 1/500. It most commonly happens when you leave the shutter cocked for an extended period but can be lubricant caused. It is most effectively repaired when you have equipment that measures curtain travel time and shutter speeds. Sorry.

K3 Light Sensitivity

Try a test in all manual and take a number of exposures from wide open to say f/11. Change only the aperture setting, leave everything else alone. Using the 100mm macro. Tripod and fixed target. Take a look and see if each exposure is different. They should be, but if not it would indicate a problem with the aperture mechanism.

It seems unlikely to me that there would be a problem with the sensor. You might also check to make sure you do not have some exposure compensation dialed in.

K-3 replacement?

^^^ This. With previous cameras I was always watching/waiting for the next release and new goodies. With the k-3, anything new released (including FF) will need to prove itself. I don't know if it has been the technology in general improving or just Ricoh upping it's game but the k-3 is still 'new' for me. I pre-ordered it, (the first anything I ever did that with) in October 2013 and I still do not see anything I would buy over it, 17 months later.

Pentax FA*200/2.8 [IF]

One of my favorite lenses, from the *istD, then the K20D, and now enjoying with my K3.... and sure it will be used again in its full expression with the new FF body!

Some examples in flare control, close up, backlight and bokeh. This lens is sweet at F2.8, but it becomes "Finger licking goooood!" at F4 to F8. Screwdrive af is fast enough, probably because its an internal focus mechanism. Only warning: DO NOT USE ANY FILTER, especially a UV - Skylight or Protective filter, unless is top quality super coated on both sides FOR DIGITAL CAMERAS. Regular filters even high quality ones but single coated or one side coated, will produce ghostings from highlights. If you need a polarizer, get the best one you can afford for digital cameras.

With the K20D

With the K20D

I don't want the FF camera now. I'm keeping the K-3 for at least 2 or 3 more years.

Lens and Shutter, (BC, CANADA) Great deals on Pentax lenses and other stuff

Hello Pentax Lovers,

Just wanted to quickly post up some info regarding our store and the Blue Dot Boxing week sale.

1) Our sincere apologies for the inventory issues. Yes, we have a problem. The inventory for some products was not calculating correctly and we unfortunately accepted more orders than we had stock to supply.

This was in no way intentional. All of our team has been working over time to deal with this. We are doing our very best to catch up with the orders, communicate with all affected clients and where possible find alternative products. (not possible with products like the Pentax 50mm F2.8 Macro, but we have been doing a lot of mix and matching with tripod components)

We are updating the site and removing sold out products as soon as they are discovered. Unfortunately with inventory in three stores it sometimes take a bit of back and forth to determine where a specific product is.

2) We do not charge anything to your credit card until the order is processed and ready to ship.. There is only a preauthorization run. This means that your bank checks to see that there is an available balance on your card to cover the sale, and places a hold for that amount. For any orders that are cancelled we release that immediately.

3) I understand the frustration that some of you are feeling and I again apologize for disappointing you. We've been working very hard to restablish Lens & Shutter and I can tell you it is quite heartbreaking to fail at making customers happy. We are not an Amazon, or other type of super store. We're mostly just a bunch of photographers trying to make a living doing what we love. We're sorry we messed up, but I'm here to tell you that we are listening and we do care.

Feel free to comment here or email us directly. info@lensandshutter.com

I've found that the $10 Ikea LED desk lamp works as someone had discovered -- I just jam it practically right into the lens (with some tinfoil on the other side of the lens to reflect back) and it clears up within only a day.

Whatever it is, I'm not buying it. I have a K3 and I like it. I might buy the 16-85 and sell my 15Ltd. Or I might buy a 40XS or similar lens. But barring catastrophe, I'm not buying a new body for another 4 years or so.

(I probably shouldn't have said that.)

I got a K-3 exactly 12 months ago.
I sold many Pentax lenses and will sell many more.
I bought all three Princesses.

I will read with interest, but I am strangely copacetic with the way things are.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

From my first shooting day with the K-3.

No selective coloring used, the white background gave the surface this grey look and red droplet is done with food coloring.

I don't know. Just a good lens I guess.

This is a scan from the lab so maybe slightly better than some of my other ones that I do at home. I have a problem keeping my negatives flat when scanning. I usually don't worry about it that much.

You won't mistake this one for a MF.

Hi folks...Since our film community is small here, I thought it would be a great idea to have a thread on images that show the beauty of film...Does it have to be a Pentax? ''No'', lets make it about photography...I and others, I am sure, would like to see what different films put out, so film type would be a help if you know. Now lets see those film shots.
