Yeah, I am quite aware of that fact. Here's to hoping to a mid-April or May release. If not i can settle with a set of primes in its place.

Actually with the funds with the 28-75 and the sigma 50...I may just have enough to purchase a 18-35, it's like 5 primes in one.

Well the 17-70 has arrived and I am quite surprised by its performance. Sharpness, at least on my copy, is comparable to the tamron 28-75, though the 17-70 seems to exhibit a slight better center sharpness. The HSM is nice and not having to click a lens lock switch is a bonus. Going to go ahead and sell the tamron 28-75, and run an exposure plot to see whether the 30mm or 50mm fov gets used more often. hopefully that will help with my future prime purchase.

on the other hand...just sold the tamron 10-24...thinking about getting a second camera..e.g. Panasonic LX7 to supplement the k30 with its tamron 28-75 and the sigma 50. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm currently running with a k-30. I lust for the k-3, but I don't really need it tbh.

Seems that way. Looking at the 17-70 C threads here and its rating on DXO mark, I don't see how its a bad choice. Probably will sell my 10-24 and 28-75 to fund that, and then my sigma 50 to fund the 30. As tempting as the 18-35 is...its a honker of a lens.

I usually keep about three lens with me, which consist of 2 zooms and a prime

1.) Tamron 10-24
2.) Tamron 28-75 2.8
3.) Sigma 50 1.4 HSM

With the release of several new lenses from Sigma, their contemporary and art lines, I have been thinking about selling the lenses above to aquire these 2 lens instead

1.) Sigma 17-70 C HSM
2.) Sigma 30 1.4 A HSM

The UWA doesn't really get much use, and I would rather stitch higher quality images rather than get the distorted edges. The Tamron 28-75 is great, but I need a little more on the short end, though I will miss a constant 2.8. The Sigma 50 is great as well, but much like the Tamron, I would rather get a 30 1.4 because of its viewing angle. I normally shoot indoors, candid, and "street", so I was hoping that the people of Pentaxius could give me some suggestions or talk me out of LBA or even provide me their experiences with the 2 newer sigma. Am I over thinking things? Thanks :D

I currently have a Sigma EF-530 DG ST attached to my K-30. To the best of my knowledge, since the flash was acquired secondhand, it works well with my camera. The flash fires off and the TTL works.

K10D or K-01 or .......

I recently sold my k20d to fund my purchase of a k-01, since like you I shoot a fair bit of pictures in low light. As long as you know its limitations, e.g. slow focusing with long lenses. lack of weather proofing, the lack of a "true c-AF", the K-01 is a pretty excellent camera, at least IMO. Though you can't fire away on a K-01, like a DSLR, with action shots.

Fast cheap 28mm lens -- an impossible dream?

For the particular specs you put forth, I would recommend the Sigma 28mm F1.8 EX DG. May not be in the sub $100 or less range, but for about $200 dollars I am happy with the results. It is a little on the big side though, or should I say not as compact as a Pentax prime. Otherwise go for a manual pentax K, M, or A and the Vivitar 28mm that many have recommended is also a great little 28mm. :D

agreed, It's nice, IMO, that Pentax does something that defies convention. I think it's inherent in people's nature to criticize things that don't fit nicely into a "prescribed" ways of thought.

Well, If the K-01 is indeed seeing its last day on the shelves or not. I'm glad that I at least had the opportunity to get one at a deeply discounted price.

It seems to me that all the camera stores are selling off there remaining stocks. Luckily I got mine from Adorama at 299.95 before they labelled it "out of stock". Everywhere I have checked so far, e.g. BH, Adorama, etc. Their stocks of K-01 are selling out.

Why did you buy a K-01?

I wasn't in the market for a new camera, since I was rather content with my K20D. Despite it's limitation in low light, I held onto my second hand k20d building up a lens collection that suited my shooting style along the way. Despite my desire to possess a "newer" camera, my budget could not accommodate the purchase of a k5, k5II. or even a k30. With the recent k-01 price drop, i decided to pull the trigger and purchase a "new" camera body with rather stellar sensor specs to use with my existing lens collection. The last time i bought a new non second hand camera was in 2007 when I purchased an Olympus Tough Cam. I'm rather excited to say the least, giddy and full of butterflies. Despite all the cons that have been posted and reiterated, here and on DPR, I feel this camera will suit my needs as a casual "art" and "travel" photographer. Can't wait to take my K-01 out for a spin. I guess I have to sell my beloved K20D to make the bite to the pocket book a little less painful.:D

Would you keep both an FA 50/1.4 and an M 50/1.7?

I too have owned a few 50mm lenses of various apertures. I treat my lenses like i treat my paintbrushes...If it suits what I am trying to achieve, I keep it. If it doesn't then I sell it or give it away to someone who has uses for it. Both lens are great IMO, just weight the pros and cons...Though the FA 1.4 will fetch a higher price, be it Ebay or the Pentax Forum Marketplace.

I've used both Hugin and ICE, They are both great for stitching. Though it appears that Hugin gives you a little more control over the end result. I have had better results with ICE stitching photos that Hugin either refuses to stitch or is unable to stitch.

I just recently acquires a K20D myself. I keep wondering to myself whether that was a good buy. After about a week or 2 with the camera, I could not be happier. All models get discontinued, I try not to get caught up in the whole upgrade cycle.
