Hi everybody !

I don't have a K-3 yet but I would seriously love to...

A little question to those who already have bought this marvel : could you give an example of SD CARD (specifications) which allows you to fully benefit the fast continuous shooting capability of the camera (8.3 fps through about 60 JPG or 23 RAW) ?

Thanx for your answer !

I do like the picture, but I think you could have stopped down a little bit, so as to get greater depth of field...

But it's really nice !

I love it too !

You really have an amazing image here...

I won't be too original, but here are my comments :
- I'm not so disturbed about distortion, but I think you definitely should slightly rotate the image (counter clockwise)
- I fully agree with danboverholt about the zone system. Your image lacks darker areas to counterbalance the sky, and I think the picture would significantly benefit from much darker areas in the water...

If you do any changes, could you show us the new version ?

Regards

Who do they think they can sell the 560mm to ???

Could someone ask a very simple question to a Pentax representative :

When Sigma sells (I'm giving French prices) a 120-400 lens (quite good quality) for 800 ,
When Canon sells a 400 / 5.6 (top quality lens) for 1 300 ...

How can Pentax imagine just for only one second that they are going to sell the 560 / 5.6 above 6 000 ????

The bug was not "frozen".

It was alive, and moving, very slowly.

The environment is perfectly natural 2 000 m high in Switzerland, I saw the bug by chance on the snow...

I like it !

It's a nice street shot, like a theater play, where all characters reach a precise position at a precise moment in the play...

The guy on the left seems a little bit mysterious and the other ones talking to each other seem to discuss something important...

Great shot, and it is of course quite grainy but it corresponds to this night atmosphere...

You're right, forums may turn into a place where photographers mainly want to be praised...

And it is quite boring... I'm lucky to be on friendly French forums where critiques really get you to improve your skills and get to know the other members...

So that's what I'm searching for : a critique forum with nice pictures, good atmosphere and photographers from different culture than mine...

Anybody could help ?

Hello everybody !

I am writing here because I'm searching for friendly and convivial photo-critique forums.

I have been quite active on critique photo forums on the French internet for a long time (I'm French) and I would be happy to discover other culture and other photgraphers on a non-French forum...

I am not talking about Pentaxforums which is a great forum, but it is not exclusively dedicated to photo critique, and it is quite "international"... I'm not talking either about forums like 1X.com which is more an on-line gallery than a forum, and which is (from my point of view) more pretentious than convivial and welcoming...

I would be interested in sharing pictures and ideas on photo-critique on any welcoming forum (I won't have enough time to seriously involve myself in more than one forum), english speaking, or spanish speaking, and interested in welcoming among its members a French guy... Or, why not, a French speaking forum from Canada, Africa etc... What I'm looking for is discovering a photographic culture different from mine !!

Hope to hear form you...

I'm not a pro, so of course I would not be interested in a "Pro" lens, like for instance 600 / f4 weighing 5 kilos and 5 000 $.

As a non pro, I hope they will release a lens :

- hand heldable (at least for a few minutes), about 1,5 kilos or 2 maximum
- affordable (it depends on the budget of each Pentaxian), about 2 000 $ maximum
- image quality comparable to DA* 200 and DA* 300

I guess a 500 / f5.6 covering only the aps-c format (therefore smaller and lighter) might be compatible with these specifications...

I like a lot the 400 / 5.6 from Canon...

Come on Pentax !!!

I wish I could buy modern versions of :

- 24mm / f2,
- 400mm / f5.6
- and a pancake 50 / f1.7...

It's been soooo long since we did not have really good news on the lenses side...

Pentax Q advertising

Hi Pentaxians !

I saw in French women magazines (like "Elle"), that they are advertising the Pentax Q, clearly targeting women.

I was shopping yesterday with my wife (who is not interested in pictures and cameras) and we passed by several camera shops.

When my wife saw the Q, she said "Whaw, I love it, it's so tiny, if I have a camera one day, it should be this one".
When she saw this advertising in Elle, we discussed the fact that they really are targeting women, and it's probably a good strategy (even though many men will buy it and be happy with it)...

I have two comments about that :

- even though a woman (or any customer) can be attracted by the size and the design of the Q, if she is not really interested by pictures, she might be disappointed by the fact that it is rather complicated (shifting lenses, M mode, if you remain in "Auto" with the kit zoom, better buy a compact)

- this advertising targeting women (probably beginners in photography, because if they already are photographers, they might be interested by the Q as a second body like any other photographer and will be probably more receptive to advertisements targeting all photographers than women exclusively in "Elle") might be more efficient with those who already have Pentaxian friends or relatives. If you don't have any Pentaxians among father / mother / friend / husband / son / daughter / colleagues, you will probably buy a Fuji X100, Sony Nex or Nikon V1, and not a Pentax Q. Unless this ad is exceptionally successful.

However, I still think it is a rather smart marketing strategy from Pentax...

Well,

Thanks for your answers ! I will try something efficient...

Just for my information, did Pentax think about something more clever for bodies such as K-7 or K-5 ? Like five-figure names ?

Thank you !

K200D and file numbers

Hi to you all,

I have owned and used a K200D for quite some time now, and the files (my pictures) are named by a number, with only 4 figures !

Which means that after the picture 9999, I have the picture 0001, 0002 etc...

But the problem is that I of course already have files named 0001, 0002 etc...

So I now have several files with the exact same name and it is quite a problem in my classification system.

The solution would of course be to have files with 5 figures (9999, 10000, 10001, 15342, 23001 etc...)

I did not find this in the user manual. You can name your files with a date system for instance, but is it possible to have just numbers with 5 figures ?

Thanks for your help !

Hi,

I know that this topic has already been discussed hundreds of times on this forum, and with the earthquake in Japan, the situation is probably quite difficult...

However, what is Pentax doing with their lenses ???

Yes, we have had a new prime (35 / 2.4) and the zoom 18-135...

But it looks like there would be demand for lots of other releases... Like :
- DA Ltd 24 /2.8,
- cheap and light pancake 50 / 1.8
- DA Ltd 85 / 1.4
- DA* 400 / 5.6

etc... etc...

I don't see rumors anymore about Pentax lenses, but I hope they are gonna wake up soon...
