Question Where are my pictures?

Sorry Parallax, that is not what happened.
The ad was removed bluntly within 2 hrs. I made it clear pictures were to follow shortly.
No help was offered in any way.

The moderator later wrote his action might have been too strong.

I tried several options, they all failed to place the correct images with the ad.
It would be appreciated if you could admit that forum moderation should be more lenient towards users instead of blaming me.

The ad was removed by the moderator before I had the chance to upload the new images I just made.
Please note this forum and the K10d cameras I use are not my business but something I like to enjoy.
If it turns into a matter where forum rules are followed so strictly I choose to leave it as it is.
I wish you all much fun at PF but will no longer participate.

Thanks Adam,

In the mean time the ad has been removed.
My compliments for the efficiency of the moderation.

I will not upload any more images nor will I advertise here again.
The two other ads have just been removed.

I will only visit PF when looking for information on lenses.
No more posting here.

Thank you.

Lens Recommendations For K-10D

I bought the 35 mm 2.4 Pentax lens but did not use it. Attractive because of its low weight.
Decided to find me a 17-50 Sigma lens which is excellent for general purpose.

The older 18-55 Pentax kit zoom gives excellent results. These lenses can be found for a song.

These tests looked very good to me.
Tripods are often overlooked as a simple and often essential item to improve image quality.
Bandit seems a bit to dislike being used as a model. Nice dog.

For accurate WB there is only one way. Use a white reference and let the camera adjust the WB with a test reading.
All other settings can only approach the correct setting.

More good news from the trade situation for K10d bodies.
Excellent K10d cameras can still be found under 100 euro.
Recently saw a ultra low shutter count one advertised for 99 euro.
With less than 1400 clicks it must be the K10d with least amount of shutter activations.

Farmers like to talk about how many acres of land they own.

Farmer 1 says it takes me 4 hours to cross my land walking.

Farmer 2 says I can not even go over my land walking takes too long. With a tractor it takes 5 hours.

Farmer 3 says that is nothing compared to my situation. Even when I use a car to drive around my land it takes 6 hours.

Says farmer 1: I used to have a car like that.

Against my habit not to spend money on broken cameras I bought an early 500C camera with damaged transport knob and detached drive shaft at the bottom of the lens opening. The transport knob can be exchanged. The damaged drive shaft is a serious problem.
I can use the chrome shell and the viewing screen with rare split to improve a 1958 year camera with an ugly shell.
Mechanical parts can be used to restore the oldest 500C in my collection. That is camera number 15 made in the first week of production in 1957.
Pure luck to find a good donor.

Patient is in the doctors office to hera the results of his medical check up. The doctor reads the seults of the tests and tell the patient he is in good condition. Nothing serious was found. the patient is quite relieved and is about to leave the office. Just a minute, I have not finished yet.
The doctor tells the patient he should lose 25 pounds of weight, quit smoking and drink less alcohol.
If I manage to follow your advice does that mean I will live longer? No you won't live longer but it sure looks like you will live longer.

Glad to see you are still occupied with the wildlife in your area. Great shot of an animal that is becoming rare these days.
I suppose this one is less suitable to brighten the walls of the lady hairdresser shop. :D

Glinda,

Take your time to get to know the K10d. Many users are like me. We already know it all. Still it is useful to read the manual to get some idea of the options the camera offers.
To start with JPEGs will do fine. RAW files need different software against JPEG that can be handled with free software like GIMP.

Under certain conditions AF with FA lenses can be erratic. It is not you, most of the time it is the lens that causes problems. The focussing limiter on some FA lenses does not help much.

I would start with setting the ISO value for different modes. The manual will probably answer your questions. At least I found the answers I had in the manual.
Last but not least you will find many users in this section ready to answers questions if you can not find the answer.

Congratulations on the purchase of the K10d. It may not be a Ferrari in car terms but certainly is a good and reliable rally car.
Good idea to have the body cleaned before you start shooting.

K10d cameras have dried up in the local Market place here. Ebay still offers them but the real bargains, low mileage at modest prices, are gone.
With three K10ds I can manage. The work horse is being used daily. Number two sees regular jobs too. Only number three is mothballed although it is fitted with the walk around 18-200 mm lens.

Skipping film straight into digital must be quite an experience. Wish you lots of fun.
You are amongst friends here, do not hesitate to ask for help or advice.

The real bargains are probably gone now. A decent low number of clicks around 100 US is a good deal now.
Your K10d is the first I know with serious problems. That does not mean you are the only one.

I accepted the three K10d cameras as they came. did not bother to check the software for upgrades.
It made me curious to see if any of these three bodies had seen a software upgrade.
More on this after the results of the upgrade situation are known.

The K10d I use most was upgraded to version 1.30
It is now on 1.31

My second K10d was on 1.31

The third one with only 3900 clicks was on 1.0
It is now also on 1.31

No idea what the upgrades will mean for my use. Being on the latest software feels good.

The remarkable thing is Hasselblad returned to focal plane shutters in 1976. The rumour was Japanese camera makers were about to release a camera with faster lenses.
This did not happen. Hasselblad started long before with the development of the 2000 series camera bodies. In 1976 this led to the introduction of the 2000FC camera.
For that camera Carl Zeiss produced a series of lenses without the leaf shutter. The 110/2.0 Planar became famous as did the 50/2.8 Distagon.
Last in the 2000 series was the rare 2003FCW. Only 4000 of this camera were produced in 1988 and 1989.

The 2000 body had a mechanical shutter combined with electronic control unit. these days it is difficult to find Hasselblad trained technicians who are able to service the cameras. Fastest shutter speed was 1/2000. Hasselblad no longer supports these exceptional cameras.

Attached the 2003FCW body.

Absolutely no need to be humble.
I happen to know a couple of things about Hasselblads camera system that started in 1949 with the camera we now call 1600F.
That first commercial Hasselblad was actually called "Hasselblad". Victor Hasselblad probably did not expect that the first camera was to be followed by many more models.

We now refer to the first Hasselblad as 1600F because the camera that followed was called 1000F. The camera originally called Hasselblad now lives on as 1600F.
Victor visited the US many times. On one of these visits the customs officer recognised the name but did not know Mr. Hasselblad.
He mentioned what he thought was a coincidence to Victor Hasselblad. Victor answered "I am the camera"

Sorry, not correct: Heliopan still produces a large range of filters in various sizes for Carl Zeiss lenses used with Hasselblad cameras.
These filters are marketed and sold as Heliopan filters.
Zeiss also supplied some filters for the lenses they produced for Hasselblad.

Hasselblad sold filters made by B&W in Germany. They did not produce the filters nor did Hasselblad produce the lenses. The lenses that gave the camera system its reputation were produced by Carl Zeiss in ermany.

Hard to believe you were able to come so close to these birds. The 28 mm gives about the AOV of a standard lens.
These images make two no three things clear:
Older Pentax glass with a K10d can easily beat recently developed lenses with high MP bodies. Color rendering is superb.
Ray must have been feeding these birds day after day to make them trust him to come so near.
I take your word for it but still have some doubts about the outfit you were wearing..................

Unless you cropped this image strongly you must be getting pretty to close tot the birds building their new home.
Which leaves the question what kind of disguise did you use
No, a description will not do Pictures

I was in a fortunate position to improve the audio qualtity of custom built mixing consoles used by Polygram decades ago.
They contained a serious design flaw that affected all signals going through these consoles.
The effect became known as Transient Intermodulation Distortion. I used my ears and a self designed amplifier to show the problem.
Later a couple of Finnish scientists, one of which was Mr. Otala, proved the defect by using mathematics.

The newly designed consoles were green instead of black. The first studio to have these was the Wisseloord studio in the Netherlands.

Without disclosing my age I would like to put the matter of Mega pixels into perspective.
Not even 40 years ago which is more than a lifetime in digital area I started out with what we now would consider a measly 4 Mp.
That 4 Mp digital back did not come cheaply, I paid 32.000 USD for that digital back.It was a digiback not even a camera.
It tuned out to be one of the best investments I ever made. ROI within a year because all ad agencies wanted to go digital.

Dynamic range exceeded the range of film which compensated for the low Mp count.
MF film will give a maximum of about 80 Mp.Is that enough? Not always.
Digital can beat that at a price though. Digital can even increase the best scans from film by increasing the 80 Mp through calculating extra Mp.

Nowadays for simple table top jobs I use a K10d. 10 Mp are more than enough.
IQ from the K10d is excellent. Sold the K5ii body I had for 300 USD. Did not regret the sale for one second. Great camera but not what I needed.
