I think you have that backwards. Medians ignore the delta of individual data points. So a large outlier has limited impact on shifting median data. Sports salaries are a good example. Large contacts skew the average upwards more than the median.

On a Samsung NX300 with a similar problem the solution was to dismantle and reinstall from the inside before reassembling.

I agree. In this case the focus breathing on the DA* 60-250 is actually an asset as it allows you to not need anything wider as things get closer.

Superb - I agree. Context can be king. That is a shot that drips context.

I've compared my DA* 60-250 to a plain old DA 55-300. With and without the HD DA 1.4x rear converter. The DA* even cropped to the same image side from 250 is noticeable clearer. The HD DA 1.4x also provides more reach with more clarity.

However, the differences are not massive and the cost and weight savings might make the 55-300 (any variety) a great choice.

DA* 60-250 is nearly FF and can be.modified to be essentially FF. But it isn't cheap.

The reviews of the 24-50 seem to suggest weak performance on the k1 models.

The 28-105 plus 60-250 isn't a bad option on my opinion.

Since there is no direct linkage I'm not sure what you mean. The f1.4 is just in EXIF right? As you change the exposure by stopping down it should alter the exposure. I really am befuddled by what you are trying to explain.

Having spent many years with center weighted metering and then single point autofocus I find it hard to transition to other models of af. With my m43 gear touchscreen
Af point selection is relatively simple but hard for me to get in the habit of using.

The k3 is a remarkable camera. Buy it. The only thing you really might miss is the tilt swivel screen. But the k3 has many other advantages.

@TerryL
Also this... if you need to use lenses without aperture rings: Rayqual Pentax DA lens (without aperture ring) to Canon EOS Camera Body Lens Adapter: shop.CameraQuest.com

Just don't try either type of adapter on Canon full frame, the mirror will get damaged.

size size and size... as well as a bit of jpg sharpening perhaps. Many is the time I thought I had THE SHOT and found it wasn't quite there when viewed later. Not as easy to get disappointed as with film but in some ways we still have to setup and take the shots and hope they turn out as expected.

Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter - Pentax K Mount (PK) SLR Lens to Canon EOS (EF-S) Mount SLR Camera Body amazon.com : Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter - Pentax K Mount (PK) SLR Lens to Canon EOS (EF-S) Mount SLR Camera Body : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&

There are other brands. The short eos ef. mount allows for a small adapter to mount k mount lenses. The lenses will need aperture rings.

For Sale: SDM to Screwdrive Conversions

Bring your tired and worn down DA* lenses back to life with ScrewDriveIT! The non-patented, simple conversion from SDM to screw drive. Sure you could do it yourself but why bother when I only charge $30!

Lenses eligible:
DA* 16-50
DA* 50-135
DA* 200
DA* 300

Sadly the DA* 60-250 will not reliably convert. The other DA* lenses lack the needed internal hardware for screw drive.

My suggestion would be to find one to borrow and have a 3d print file created to allow you to make a few.

Pentax K-S2 or Canon 70/80D? Worried about aperture problem

I really think the base sensor from Sony is that much better than the base sensor from Canon. The reason for the K-5 vs. 80D is price. the K5iis falls into roughly the price range the OP mentioned for the KS2. The K-3 is a great camera and one I use daily.
