Great shots, i picked up the Sigma 50 1.4 via CRK (they price matched grey stock) so far its awesome on this D50 i have borrowed till' i can afford the D700 :)

How do you find the Sigma 50 1.4? tossing up between that and the much cheaper nikon 1.4d or 1.8

thanks for the reply's, i am pretty certain i want the d700, although i hope it won't be too heavy for me, i am going to try one at a camera shop before buying.. the only thing that might make me go the d7000 is video, as my partner is pregnant and might want to take footage of the little one..

These are my options:
Crop Body d7000 or d300s
Tamron 17-50
85 1.8
35 F2:
70-200 vr1
FX Body d700
85 1.8 (or samyang 85 1.4!)
Tamron 28 - 75
35 f2:
80-200 2.8
Hows that look?
That's if my Pentax gear gets the price i'm hoping for on ebay anyway!

very nice! so did you sell your 85 1.8 ?
I am making the switch to Nikon trying to decide to go crop or full frame, decisions decisions but the shots in this thread really make me lean towards the D700

I still feel my images are a little soft at f2.8:
here is one i took this morning, 130mm f2.8
Also i did a test with and without my Kenko Pro1D UV filter i bought off ebay,, interesting results, both at 200mm f.28

i would be interested to know if anyone finds out the right sized tool to fit the sigma 17-70, i sort of grazed the metal trying to open mine, (turned a little way then stopped) but it won't be noticeable if i paint the silver graze black.. the glass is still perfect though :) untouched but i still am yet to get it open, i have some fungis inside i would love to remove

is it worth sending the lens back for calibration if it is front focusing?
I took a shot of a bird yesterday and the bird is out of focus but the leaves in front of it are in focus,, will find the shot soon its on my other computer

might have just been me, wasnt working in firefox but tried in IE and its showing
Looks nice and sharp, but exif is missing? what focal length and aperture did you use?

also i did a focus test with mine as a few pics i took seemed out of focus even though i thought i focused correctly (may have just been me)
Do these results look ok (ie no BF, FF) they seem ok to me but would like a 2nd opinion :)

I got mine from Teds, they priced matched an online store, also came with a free PMA 2009 kit, including a Tamron Monopod (which i later sold for $55) Lowepro sling bag and assorted goodies :)
