Yeah, new Pentax need to price compete with street priced Nikons from years ago but when nikon gets a camera out it can be priced wherever because it is Nikon.
Guys, you wonder why Pentax is small ? You ask for it somehow.

I'm not so sure the 'Pentax did wrong' is as shared opinion as much as you think, Norm.
Pentax may (most probably) did not know that supid solenoid would get back at them.

But they should have acknowledged IMO. Same for that supid SDM fiasco.
The SDM fiasco is such because they did not acknowledged anything.
If they, did e.g. ackknowledged the problem concerning 16-50 and 50-135 and only those, stating onther lenses were unaffected this forum would have been much more silent.
ANd repuation of other SDM lenses wouldn't be so bad (and they don't deserve this).

Well, "I don't need long expensive lens 'cos my cheap one with TC" is better can get pretty repetitive too.

Such a thing in EU would get hell of attention. Mostly because most schools are public.

Those have been corrected afaict.
So you either are spreading FUD intentionaly (I really don't think so) or are mistaken.
The deeper problem is RI never acknowledge there was a problem which was later fixed. That would be clearer for everyone.

Most corps don't give a damn. You still bought the Kx didn't you (not China I know but the priciple is applicable) ? And your K5II was still manufactured in such area wasn't it? That's enough so most corp won't move.
Not that I agree with such reasoning.

Let's take another example. Vertuous, really vertuous. Fair Phone (Android, sold in EU only AFAICT). It really is a thing well done (can always be better though). Easily repairable. No blood minerals etc.
Even this one has mostly chinese components. It costs hell for a "dated" phone.
That's the price to pay (and it is still mostly chinese).
Each one will judge if all this is important or not. Just providing food for thoughts.

We as buyers can make choices. But the cost of making really vertuous choices is high. Very high (IMO).

I don't agree. At all.
I'm fed up with people popping here everytime there's a new lens which can't be anything but a sigma or a Tamron.
If it was me, it'd be a motive for admin action.

It also depends the amount of remaining 645 lenses stock.
If it is enough to warrant development of a new body, a new body will come.
Even if it is *only* a way to sell more lenses.
If this that would be the primary reason, I guess they'd take a rather 'low' investment path and keep the DSLR form factor.
If they go full 'in', they might go mirror less for 645 but it means new lenses otherwise there's be no point. And I don't think they have the resources.

Lenses have their internal firmware even if it is not shown to us.
Lenses also send optical corrections (starting DA lenses) informations to the body (which may or may not be specific to body format hence, some update still for aps cams with DFA*??). At least that's what was said by RI at the time they introduced in-body corrections.

And IMO if a mirror less comes (besides a Ricoh GR-like one with few lenses) I expect a 645 one.
It makes the most sense there IMO.
