Cheap, less-painful scanning while you sleep: the PrimeFilm 7250 Pro3

No it did not. I downloaded sample versions of both Silverfast and VueScan and played with both extensively. Presuming that the replacement scanner passes inspection, then it's VueScan all the way even though it's more expensive.

I read the review and other reviews, noted this is a discontinued model, and decided to bite anyway. It's light, relatively small, but the software is hard to deal with and I had an additional problem.

I tried different software and fed the negative in upside down, so the defect is the hardware and not the film.

So that's strike one. I'll send this one back to Amazon and get another one that is hopefully normal.

I thoroughly hate scanning. Thanks for the write-up... i'll have a gander and probably drop a buck fifty on the thing if it's as painless as you say.

Do you have any updates on scan speeds for a whole roll? I'm still thinking of getting one, mostly for the convenience factor.

I made all my own handstraps out of Paracord. There are several decent tutorials on YouTube to help you along. Cheap, stylish, and sturdy.

Xiaoming, yesterday I tried dumping both SD2 cards and I think it went fine! I'll have to give it another go, since I hadn't realized the app had updated, so I'll pay more attention next time... but first impressions are problem is solved. Thanks!

Curious about this theoretical question... if it were possible to refurbish older manual focus lenses with modern coatings, do you suppose that would make much of a difference?

I'm not much of a pixel peeper, and I'm a manual lens hog. So I know my technique is more to blame than the lens in 99.9999% of cases. However, CA is kind of a PITA that is nevertheless easy to fix in post now, but I remain curious if it could be eliminated at the time of the click... in theory.

Thanks for your review of ON1... I've been intrigued by it for quite a while, and with the new developments from Adobe, I'm now considering switch. Question for you as an experienced user; are the updates typically vital and worth the upgrade price? For LR, I usually updated every-other version until it went to subscription, for example.

Alternative choice for Ricoh Image Sync App - Pentax Photo Sync

Thanks. I have processed and formatted SD1, but I suspect there might have been 20-30 photos on that one. SD2 is full of XS jpgs that I save indefinitely on the card for sharing. No idea how many on that one, but definitely a lot more. These are new cards so probably a 200-300. And I never see the contents of SD2 when I switch cards.

I mean when it starts up, it shows the contents of SD1 with the little (and very cool) RAW labels in the bottom right corner of the thumbnail. Then when I switch to SD2, nothing happens. Then when I try to view an image, it says connection lost and then becomes non-responsive.

I'm having trouble switching between SD cards on my K-1. I shoot RAW/JPG and all my jpgs are on SD2, and the app hangs when I switch cards.

I've downloaded it and used it once so far... and so far so good! Much easier and more sensible to use compared to the OEM software, and I was able to switch between cameras quite easily.

Superb shots! Would you like to do a short tutorial or point to a link that shows how to adjust infinity focus on these manual lenses?

Here's an opportunistic shot... I had my M100 Macro on at the time.
