Small bag options for 645z and travel

I've been using the Urban Disguise bags for years, and they're great. I have the 60 and 70V2, and both fit the 645Z with 28-45 attached just fine, but there's not much room for anything else. You could work something out with the pads and/or remove the lens for carrying, but I haven't found a way yet to keep the main lens attached and have another, like the 80-160, in the bag at the same time where they're not prone to damage.

P645Z and 28-45mm lens for landscape astrophotography

I bought it for all the other things the lens can do, but I've never tried landscape astro before & wanted to see if it's worth using for that. I have to drive 2+ hours away, check the weather, try not to get robbed, etc, and just wanted to see if the lens would make all that worth it. :)

I'll get plenty of use out of the lens in other areas.

P645Z and 28-45mm lens for landscape astrophotography

As the title suggested, has anyone tried this combination? I just picked up the lens after saving my pennies and wanted to give it a try. I also have a Nikon D750 and was thinking of trying the 14-24mm lens with that, but only if the 645Z setup didn't fare well.

I wanted to know if the 28-45 was wide enough, if what they called coma was present, and if the results of the bigger sensor were acceptable.

Pentax 645 33-55 lens wobble

I just purchased a used 645 FA 33-55 lens and although everything appears okay, there is a significant wobble in the lens. Looking back to front, the lens appears to move slightly as if in two pieces: the wobble moves all the front glass apart from the rear glass. It moves about 1mm. I'm going to test the lens at home tonight.

I don't have any other lenses which do this; should I be concerned?

Now the 'Z' has been out a while, how does the 'D' compare?

I've owned the D and presently own the Z, but I'm not sure how much my opinion would really matter; I'm a semi-advanced amateur.

For me, both camera's files are excellent, but I do prefer the P645D's colors out of camera over the Z, but everything else is in favor of the Z. The high ISO ability of the Z is outstanding; handheld photos are far more possible, whereas I always felt the P645D was at home on the tripod. The AF is better, liveview is a huge benefit & everything like tethering that comes with it. I still find myself using mirror lockup and the tripod, and maybe I've been trained by the 645D, but I think both cameras are helping me improve the quality of my pictures.

But, all that said, a used D can be had for under $4000 and it's still a great camera. I wouldn't hesitate if that was your budget. If I still owned the D knowing what I know now, I would probably keep it. The Z is better at handheld work, but I feel with either camera I would want a specialized DLSR for wildlife and such. The Z can do it, but it's just not as good at it, IMO, and that's more about the system than either camera.

Tilt shift on 645z?

Do the lenses for the Zoerk MFS have to be modified for infinity focus on the P645 mount? The website offers the 105/4 by default for the medium format version & I was wondering about the possibility of using both shorter (80) or longer (120/5.6, 135 or 150 Schneider).

I still have trouble fixing the 33-55's distortions, or at least getting the photos 'not too bad'.

Remote Shutter Release for 645Z

I use the remote on my 645Z and it works fine; just as well when I had the 645D. I usually just leave the drive in remote mode with the front & rear LEDs blinking and I can still use it handheld if needed.

The only issue I had was when it got chilly at night recently, not too bad, but around 45-50F and my remote stopped working completely. Once I got it back to room temperature, it's worked fine since.

Has anyone tried using the O-FC1 Flucard with the P645Z? I picked one up to try it out and it looks like I'm either doing something wrong or it's defective.

Installed in slot 2 and with the write lock in any position, the camera gives the memory card error when turned on and when I try to tell it it's a Flucard in the menu. I tried it in a card reader for my computer, and I can't even access it, once again with or without the write lock.

Am I missing something?

With the incoming P645Z (I'm guessing), B&H is now selling the P645D for $4999 new. Not bad at half the price of when it came out and it's still a great body.

645 FA 120 lens query

Unfortunately, I don't have anything to test it with currently. I should have something....let's say in late May....

I just found the 'Assembled in Vietnam' written in the mount itself, so I guess that answers that question. I hadn't seen any of these until now.

645 FA 120 lens query

They're both FA 120s. When I got the new one, all I concentrated on were the optics, cosmetics, etc, but then I noticed one doesn't have the 'Made in Japan' on the focus ring. In fact, it's blank. Here's a photo. The lens without the made in Japan is also the one with the serial number near the aperture ring.

645 FA 120 lens query

I had two questions regarding the P645 FA 120mm lens:

  1. I recently purchased a second FA 120 (prices right now are great) and upon inspection, the rear lens element has a purplish hue whereas my existing 120 has a green hue. Also, one has the inscribed serial on the barrel, and the other has it on the focus ring. Are these differences anything to be concerned about?

  2. Also, the new lens inner barrel is somewhat loose. When fully extended, the inner barrel has a small amount of play in it: Is this something that can be repaired/worth 'fixing'?

Thanks in advance for any help.

FA 80-160 lens focus issue

Hello everyone. I have an issue with one of my FA lenses: my 80-160 works fine in AF mode, but when I switch to manual focus, the body motor runs continuously every time I depress the shutter halfway. I bought the lens on ebay and I didn't have the body at that time to test it, but assumed it was okay when I tested the aperture & AF and they both worked much later. I'm guessing that something inside the lens is not telling the camera it's in manual mode.

Would this be a relatively easy fix?

These are some of my first (amateur) attempts at macro photography using the FA120. I'm trying to get used to the paper-thin depth of field, among other issues. These are all shot handheld at ISO 400, f/20. Even at F/20 the plane of focus is minute. My post processing skills are also not the best (caveat).

Anyone used the 645 auto bellows and 645D?

I've been playing with the 645 auto bellows and decrypting the instructions for use on the 645D, but I can't seem to get it right. I have the mechanical release (cable release 30) and the coiled cord connector (infrared remote release cord 2P), but I don't see anywhere on the 645D to connect this to. Attaching the mechanical release stops down the lens when depressed, and I've tried to meter this way, but this doesn't seem like it should operate this way.

Anyone give up on 645D?

As a brand-new 645D owner, I love it. I'm easily tempted at times to get the latest-greatest, and the D800 series are excellent, but part of me really wanted to slow down to the 645D's speed. I was too impatient in 35mm-land. Now I'm finding I use manual focus more and more, since it's much easier with a bright viewfinder; I love the mirror lock up; the manuals are the best I've read; the lenses are plentiful and are high quality, even if they're not new, etc. There are issues, but these pale in comparison to what this thing can do when used well, as I still aspire to do. I always keep in mind that the 645D's sensor is the same as in the S2, so relatively speaking, it's a bargain by comparison.

I also think the option to shoot 67 lenses is also a big plus. Many of these are ridiculously cheap. I paid $300 at KEH for an EX+ 67 55mm lens.

645D and Novoflex tilt/shift bellows

Ah, okay; thanks for the help. I was seeing that the Zoerk MFS system used enlarger lenses, but then I saw the 67 lens adapter for the Novoflex and thought that might be too easy. I'm going to have to check out the MFS system.

Thanks again!

645D and Novoflex tilt/shift bellows

Hello,

I'm new to the 645D and I wanted to know if anyone has used one of the P645 versions and the Novoflex tilt/shift bellows. I was considering picking one up and using some of the 67 lenses to start, but also some of my 645 lenses.

I was concerned that some of the more aggresive tilt angles might be a cause for concern, but also if there might be lens suggestions (67 and/or 645).

Thanks in advance (TIA)......
