I love using the DA70 on my K-1 mk II, I don't mind slightly soft corners, this is a full frame lens in my mind.

From a walk to the beach yesterday. The air was above +10 degrees C and the sun was warming, but the water is just above the freezing point.

We have similar orchids all year, they return with new flowers if you treat them well!

Thanks! Two reasons: First, I wanted to test the FF capability of the DA70 wide open, and second, I thought it might help the houses stand out from the background hills if the hills were slightly OOF.

I have one lens which really needs a protective filter: The DA35 Macro ltd - you just get too close to your subjects with that lens :)

If the technologies of the K-3iii are what they are claimed to be, a K-1iii will be one amazing camera. I would be surprised if it's not already in development, but I think you're right that they may recon that a too early announcement might steal some of the spotlight from the K-3iii. When a new FF model is announced, the release date will probably won't be too far away.

Two shots with K1 mk2 and the DA70 from a couple of days ago. Both f/2.4. No cropping, default DxO processing from RAW with all bells&whistles turned off (i.e. NO vignetting correction etc.).

And the answer to the thread question was:

...and the 16-50 PLM and the "transformers" version of the K-1.

Maybe not too exiting since the changes to the three amigos are minimal and the new 16-50 was already known, but I really like that they renew the FA limited line, and I bet the new 16-50 will be terrific together with the K-3 III.

As for the J-version of the K-1... I dunno, if i were a professional rock photographer, I would really have liked using a red one at an Avatar concert :D - otherwise I like camera equipment to be unobtrusive.

YMMV on this. I really enjoy using my K-1 with the tiny DA70 mounted.

I've only noticed vignetting at f/2.4 on a few shots, mostly it's less noticeable than on the DFA 28-105 (where it can be pretty visible every now and then, but easy correctable).

I feel a little sorry for my 35 ltd, too, it was my favourite lens on K-5. I have used it every now and then for close ups, though, if you get close enough, there's no vignetting. And I use it (just slightly cropped) for "scanning" slides and negatives.

The DA70 is so useful on full frame that I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever need the 77. I guess if you do brick wall testing of it, you might detect soft corners. But they're not so obviously soft, even at f/2.4, that it's been a problem at all for the kind of shots I like to use it for. Vignetting is only rarely a problem (except when I make the mistake of fully extending the hood :D), and correctable anyway.

The CP+ 2021 page now has a section on some "New Product/Reference Exhibit" (or so Google Translate says) which doesn't seem to be the K3-III. Anyone have an idea what this might be?

But it's all the same thing! The roman name of the city was "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium" which was shortened to Köln over time. And the original name of the perfume is "Kölnisch Wasser" - or "Eau du Cologne" in French.

I've just started using PhotoLab 4, and the noise reduction is mind blowing. I've just started re-processing some old K10D pictures shot at ISO 800 and 1600, and now I can lift the shadows somewhat without destroying the images with noise!

I just hope they're testing out all these innovations in a prototype full frame (and 645?) camera simultaneously, so we don't have to wait for eons for it to appear! OTOH, I have just started to scratch the possibilities of my K-1 mkII, so I'm not really in the target group for new camera bodies for a couple of years. But when the DFA 21 limited arrives, my savings account lives dangerously :)

The golden days of SLR advertising are gone anyway. Back when I was a teenager, I was very impressed by these ads in National Geographic, and was very close to buying a SR-T 101 (also because a friend had one). I ended up (as a 14 year old) with a Topcon Unirex instead. It was a great SLR to start with, but the system was somewhat dead end, so after 2 or 3 years, I exchanged it for a Pentax MX. I don't think advertising was what brought me to Pentax, but rather advice from friends and probably most importantly being able to handle the little wonder in a camera store.

IMHO the gold LX is the most embarrassing product Pentax ever made. I have a standard grip on my LX, but AFAIR there was also a grip (not wood) that you were supposed to shape yourself?

It's a little annoying that they seem to have dropped internal GPS. Might be because it was difficult to combine with the new pentaprism, though. Could also be just an omission in the preliminary specs, but they seem complete otherwise.

In our family we have the term "Italian half hour" which is at least one hour long. It stems from my kids asking "are we there yet?" while we were driving to a place in Italy many years ago, and at some point I was silly enough to answer "only half an hour to go now!".

Waiting for new Pentax products tends to involve "Italian half years" :)

They wasted the MX name on a compact camera, but maybe M-x (with a dash) i still a possibility?
