CR Kennedy is very good at price matching grey market pricing. I have quite a few past dealings with them on a few of the limited lens and Sigma lens. All were dealt promptly and shipped very quickly. You can always send them a price match request compared to BnH and they will most likely oblige.

I have a Sigma 14mm 2.8 lens which is discontinued. It is a big lens as it covers full frame. You might be able to find some in the second hand market.

Build in flash will not pop up feature

Just something i discovered last night on my K01. I was trying to use my pop up flash during a dinner party, but not matter what i do, the little flash just won't pop up. Pressing the flash button repeatedly will not work. I though i need to send my unit to service now, what a bummer! :(

Then when i reached home, I took the flash shoe cover out and press the flash button again. The flash just spring to the ready position. Wow no more issue! Happy:)

Then i remembered i used a third party flash shoe cover on my K01, as i have a tendency to lose them. Putting original Pentax flash shoe cover in, and the flash will pop with the press of a button. Putting the third party flash shoe cover in, the flash will not pop. It seems to me that there are some mechanism in the flash shoe to detect an external flash is inserted, hence will prevent the build in flash from raising up. Then the generic construction of a third party flash shoe cover will makes the camera think that an external flash is being used, and disabled the in build flash.

So I have now use back the original flash shoe cover just so I can use the in build flash.

Just a discovery worth sharing i think so no one will have to go thru my little drama again. :o

Recommendations on equipment for weddings?

Since you mentioned minimum, I assume that's including cost as well?
All the gears mentioned are really good, but also come at a price.

I would get the tamron 17-50 instead of DA 16-50 and tamron 70-200 and the long Tele zoom. Both are considerably cheaper than Pentax or sigma version.

Then one or two primes that can have a fast Aperture for good dof control and a macro lens to capture all the intimate details at the wedding. Choose the focal length that suite your style for those primes.

If funds still permit, get an ultra wide lens. Sigma uwa or Pentax fish-eye lens depends on your style.
I will typically use these lenses for 1% of my wedding photos.

In quite dark environment my K01 will AF faster than K5 PDAF. I have recently tested them by shooting into my lens cupboard, which is fairly dark. The required setting to get a proper exposure was like ISO 6400 f2 1/10s

From my own personal test in dark area, K01 seems to be able lock focus better and more accurately than K5 using the same lens. My K5 will just hunt and hunt for awhile and k01 would lock focus in one go. The lens I used for that test was FA* 24mm.

Gerry Gibbs is quite a nice camera store. I have bought some lenses from them in the past, and I would consider them as one of the better camera stores in WA.
And I know they only carry Aus stocks only.

Relevant news re malfunctioning AF under artificial light

I'm happy to report in on my K5. Serial #3965xxx as well.

Tested on all lenses, only 2 of my Sigma lenses exhibit serious FF issue in really low light level. How low? ISO 10,000 f2.8 1/40s low. (how many EV is this?)

The 2 Sigma lenses are 30mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.4. Both focuses fine in better light.

Suprisingly the DA* 16-50 actually focuses quite well under such low lighting level, better than my other DA limited.

I just got my K5 from Camera Electronics. Luving it!!! My 16-50mm feels like a new lens with great focus accuracy without any adjustment. Good price from Saul and I think they can post to Bridgy too.

I used to have shutter blur issue with my k7. As I can consistently reproduce it, it was easy to get it fixed under warranty.

Now its all good. :)

DX0 k-5 scores up

From DxO, the only reason D7000 has a higher "Low-Light ISO" score is because they "cheated" with their ISO values.

Quotes from DXO on how they evaluate that "Low-Light ISO is then the highest ISO setting for the camera such that the SNR reaches this 30dB value while keeping a good dynamic range of 9 EVs and a color depth of 18bits."

If you go by the graphs, K5 and D7000 virtually are the same until ISO 1600, where Pentax applied some "magic" K to pull ahead.

The only real significant advantage Pentax against D7000 is actually the dynamic range from ISO400 onwards, even before the "smoothing algorithm" applied from ISO1600. Thats the most interesting part of the result, which I think Pentax's Engineers might have done something right in that department.

K5 AF Tests

Totally agree with Raven. Different lens AF differently on the body due to construction and design.

For example, I regulary track my dog running towards me using my K-7. So far I've tried using F* 300, Tamron 70-200 and DA* 50-135, and F* gave me more consistent sharp picture of my dog running towards me than Tamron and DA*. I think its due to the faster lens focus (shorter focus throw).

I usually uses 5fps on my K-7 and focus from far to min focus distance of the lens.
