Umming and ahhing about jumping in for this a few days late. Completely failed keeping up the single last month, but after a week or two I'm itching for the challenge again.
Got some film to process (colour, because autumn) so mono will be out for any of those I may post, but more than happy to do monovember beyond that.
I'll commit or otherwise tomorrow.

Nice find.
A bit late now you have glued already but there is a fairly simple way of doing that that's completely reversible. It involves removing the back plate and using a small plastic tube, like from a ball point pen or cotton swab, to fit over the pin and hold it closed.
Depending on the lens not usually difficult to do, Google probably has pictures of most. Just watch out for any springs that may ping off and be lost forever.

Another explore thanks to Single In,

Its always nice to get the extra exposure but in this case I am very pleased as its a picture I am actually proud of, which is not always the case with explore.

This one isn't ghostly in that the figure is solid, but I think it fits the theme,

Having acquired a new (to me) DA* 300 I figure a month using it would be beneficial, I may regret it, its big and heavy and probably not the best focal length for catching autumns splendour, but I need to get to know it so bring it on.

I hope it fits in the camera bag when attached to the body...

I have fallen off the wagon this month, just not been feeling it photographically the past few weeks, not decided about next month yet, will see.

But just to follow up on a post from earlier in the month about getting a new lens. Well, the seller dropped the price and after a bit of umming and ahhing I went for it! So I am now the proud owner of one of Pentax's 'grown up' lenses, the DA* 300mm f4.

Bought yesterday, and received less than 24 hours later this morning (wish all ebay sellers were that quick).

Star by Graeme Sugden, on Flickr

Thanks to Sandy for replying and showing some great examples, I hope I can do the lens justice.

Decided not to rush into buying a 600 pound lens, might happen yet but will keep an eye on things. In the meantime I have managed to bugger my back up today and have not managed a photo, or yesterday for that matter. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow as I have a log delivery coming, should manage a photo at least.

I had a feeling you might own one, good to know you rate it so highly and some fantastic example shots there. It is a tempting proposition certainly, I have sent the seller a question as they have 2 available, asked them which is the better optically. One is fairly beat up on the outside and cheaper, but the glass has been cleaned by Pentax according to the advert so it will be interesting to see what they say.

Hope you don't mind me posting this here as I am not doing the single in this month, but I have just posted on the daily thread about maybe getting a used da*300. If anyone with experience of that lens could pop over and give their 2 cents worth I would be very grateful. I am on the fence and need talking into, or out of a rash purchase.

I need some advice / talking out of. Randomly browsing eBay and came across a da* 300 for just under 600, used obviously but supposedly in good optical condition and from a camera shop I trust ( bought my first dslr from them and couldn't have been happier). Not rightly sure what the going rate for a used one is but it seems a good price to me, and I would quite like a modern long lens.

Anyone with experience of this lens care to weigh in, worth it? It's a fair chunk of money to me but just about doable.
So yeah, talk me into or out of it!

Got a bit behind this weekend, family over including 3 babies, a wedding and the associated hangover and 2 very distressed cats because of it all. I think I have my photos sorted but I might wait till the morning to post and catch up.

My shot from the 1st got explored, thats always nice.

After (almost) a month of Single In, I think I'll jump back over here for September. I tend to gravitate to longer lenses these days, so as an extra challenge to myself I am going to limit myself to 28mm and under, I have a pair of 28mm's and a 19mm, plus a few zooms that cover that range and the pinhole camera. Enough to keep me busy.

Not got a photo for today, but if you recall me mentioning I was entering the local shows photography competition the other day. Pretty pleased with the results, 2 first places in open and black and white.
Also discovered the judges are very pro dog with the animal class. Gonna have to steal a dog for next year, cats not gonna cut it.

Go for it, monochrome is a nice approachable theme even if you forgot whilst out shooting, yet plenty of scope to take it further.
I personally haven't managed either theme this month, Saturday's are my worst day photography wise. But I do like the idea of them and try to stick to them when able.

But on a plus note my Thursday shot got explored, so that's nice.

Today I thought I would put the Jupiter in front of a roll of film and headed up to the hills to try and get some highland cattle in the rather bleak weather. Didn't get what I had in mind, but there should be some good ones on there none the less, will develop it tomorrow and back post todays picture.

Great idea for a thread, certainly not the easiest of subjects. Heres a few I have managed,

Hover Fly by Graeme Sugden, on Flickr

Coming in to Land by Graeme Sugden, on Flickr

Interestingly, both of these were captured on manual focus lenses, a Jupiter 11a 135mm and M 100mm macro, not sure autofocus would of locked on quick enough to get the shot in these cases.

I've had that a few times as well. A tactic I would normally associate with Facebook. Guess it's just a social media thing you have to put up with occasionally.

Despite living in a very horsey area I rarely make use of them in my photos, thought I would change that today and set out to capture some.
