I definitely get you, but perhaps all these Mark III posts speak to a notable level of demand for the upgrade?

When I owned a 645D, I really enjoyed shooting with it in a photojournalistic style at events. Those were not stitch-able moments.

Most used lens for Landscapes?

My own personal style is typcially 180 degrees opposite of this approach. I much prefer to use out-of-focus areas to isolate my subjects, be it foreground, background, or both. I totally get (and love!) the Group f/64 approach to landscape photography. My mileage varies intentionally. I keep their "carefully framed" approach, but abandon the "sharply focused." Neither approach is right or wrong . . . it is just important to remember that landscapes do not need to have "more" depth of field.

Most used lens for Landscapes?

Having shot landscapes over dozens of years using everything from pinhole to telephoto, I would say whatever suits the scene and your intention. From your question as written, sharpness seems to be most important to you. My sharpest lens is probably the 100 Macro WR, but my landscapes typcially aren't about sharpness.

Make obligatory noise reduction for higher ISO settings in RAW optional. As post processing software continues to improve, let higher ISO noise be addressed there. Better auto focus, particularly for tracking moving objects (and any other goodies in the K-3 III that are appropriate).

If you decide on the K-3 III, she could use the new camera for nonbusiness photography as a way to learn the new menus, then transition to using the new camera as her primary work camera once she feels comfortable with it.

Burnt out on photography?

Perhaps your settings or techniques aren't the hurdles you face. When I confront burn out or stagnation, the issue usually is what to photograph, not which gear, settings, or techniques, etc. to use. There is a good, short video recently posted the "Recommended YouTube Channels for Photography thread discussing the Ernst Haas quote, "I am not interested in shooting new things. I am interested to see things new." Might be worth a watch. Here's a related video:

I also have two: the Soligor Tele-Auto 200mm f/3.5, and the Soligor C/D 78-210mm f/3.5. I've not used them in awhile, but I've never been disappointed in them when I have.

Interview with Ricoh Imaging president about new strategy

An item to think about: How many of our biases on the subject of video on DSLRs are rooted in the probable fact that most of us here at PentaxForums are predominantly still-image photographers? How else does one explain the fact that the Canon EOS 5D Mark II revolutionized the way videographers and filmmakers flocked to the camera. That camera initiated what filmmakers call the "the "DSLR revolution." That was not an inexpensive camera, with the introductory price of $2,700 USD in 2008 dollars, which is about $3,600 in 2022 dollars.

I find myself [idiom warning] "between a rock and a hard place" when assessing that perspective. My answer to your question is, "Nothing," because Pentax has not instilled confidence of their viability within me because they have offered me nothing during that time period. I am not interested in APS-C; my interest are in full frame and medium format. I am reluctant to enter the latter, even buying used, because I have seen no advancement for the 645Z. I would have spent money on a new K-1 III if it wasn't incremental as my K-1 works just fine (except for that lousy firmware update mistake I made back in December that has eliminated the "off" part of the camera's on/off function).

From the list below of new cameras offered in the past two-and-a-half years, you can see what company has more offerings and thus which company appears to be the most viable:

Fujifilm X-H2S (APS-C)

Fujifilm GFX 50S II (Medium format)
Fujifilm GFX 100S (Medium format)
Fujifilm X-T30 II (APS-C)
Fujifilm X-E4 (APS-C)

Ricoh GR IIIx (APS-C)
Pentax K-3 Mark III (APS-C)

Fujifilm X-S10 (APS-C sensor)
Fujifilm X-T4 (APS-C sensor)
Fujifilm X100V (APS-C sensor)
Fujifilm X-T200 (APS-C sensor)

IR photography without special camera

On a related note, I recall from film camera days that infrared wavelengths come into focus at a different point than visible wavelengths, so you had to adjust your focus manually or use the infrared guides marked on some lenses. I'm presuming that is still the case with digital, since the film plane and the sensor surface are essentially the same thing. Is that (i.e., the focus shift) correct?

Is it possible for Pentax to digitalised some vintage cameras?

So, therefore, . . . internal combustion engine automobiles (as opposed to electric automobiles) are NOT vintage because auto makers are still making them, therefore as a class of automobiles they are not [i.e., cannot be] vintage?

Sorry, but in good spirits I disagree with the premise of your statement.

I completely agree with you on this!

Is it possible for Pentax to digitalised some vintage cameras?

One of the difficulties in reading this thread is that people are using the word "vintage" with different personal understandings of its meaning. One dictionary definition of the word is "a period of origin or manufacture." With that meaning, any camera not currently being manufactured can be described as vintage. Thus, the K-3 I and II are vintage because their "period of manufacture" has passed. That is how I think of the word, and why I used quotation marks around the word vintage in my initial reply; the K-1 II technically isn't vintage because it is still being manufactured (or at least it is still available for purchase as new). I was characterizing the K-1 II as "vintage" because it has not been upgraded for several years, and thus it is a bit dated.

Similar confusion surrounds discussions about "vintage" photographs . . . prints made close to the time a photographer exposed the negative or digital file, versus those prints made somewhat later.

The K-1 II is now four years old, and the original K-1 came out two years before that. I'd be much happier if they manage to update that "vintage" camera. I'm beginning to lose hope.

Roberts Camera's eBay store currently has a 645Z for $2,278 or best offer. Roberts is a legit store. I used to live in Indianapolis and bought photo paper and chemicals there. I think I even purchased a Rollieflex there, too.

In the film days, some people only took their film to the drugstore or commercial lab for processing and printing, while others built their own darkrooms and processed their own film and prints . . . and some did both. The Raw vs JPG difference isn't too dissimilar from that comparison. I did love the steak-at-a-restaurant-versus-home analogy, though!

I bumbled along through some of the options, including USR DAT CLEAR but having no idea what I am doing, and I didn't want to try just anything for fear of bricking it. I had to redo a number of settings, but no change with the core problem. I'm guessing it is off to the repair yard, and at least a $500 bill. Ugh.
