Really? And I thought I'd start saving for this, but now I'm not so sure, since my K-5 might be replaced by a K-1 - some day.

My Optio W10 was a quite interesting camera 11 years ago, I got quite a few comments when I swam around with what didn't look like the sturdy camera it was (and is - it still works!).

This, however, is just boring.

This thread should have been DOA.
For some reason, exactly those threads seem to be the most invincible here :/

Nice. About one stop better than my K-5, judging from the low light shots.

One from the beach on Saturday. Difficult to process the colors here, I considered using B+W but ended up with this:

Good grief that camera is expensive, you can get a K-3 II with an 18-135 for less than a KP body over here.

This is very misleading, most of the lenses that were shared Tokina-Pentax designs (some designed by Tokina, some by Pentax) were introduced before Hoya bought Pentax. The SMC DA 35mm f/2.8 Macro Limited (where there's a Tokina lens that's optically so similar that Pentax must have licensed it to them somehow) was introduced after the merger, but I think it was annonced before, so even in that case, it predated Hoya ownership.

Might be, but I'd prefer a somewhat faster lens. But the DA21 sure sits fine in the middle between my DA15 and DA35.

On the other hand, for the price of a DA21 you almost get a GR II ;)

Hear, hear, I'd really like a 24 mm for my K-5. Just met my daughter in a park earlier today, and her Zeiss 24/1.8 is practically glued to her NEX-7. It's such a useful focal length.

Pentax KP - High ISO Samples

Actually I didn't expect too much since K-5 is so good (I think many have complained that they think K-3 high ISO is worse than K-5 high ISO?).

OTOH, I think that my son's K-s1 is quite a bit better at ISO 3200 than my K-5. He gets very good results in not so good light with the rather slow SMC 50-200.

Nice. ISO 12800 looks quite a bit better than on my K-5, although hard to tell from these well-lit studio shots how it will work on a murky dark evening. I notice that it has the Pentax habit of blowing the reds so the red napkin loses its pattern.

+1 to that. But at least I finally finished my 2017 calendar, a few days into February

Our son printed and framed some of his favorite shots from last year as a Christmas present for my wife. I must say that even ISO 3200 shots from his K-s1 look quite good printed. That underrated little camera has a remarkably good sensor (and the AF seems more reliable than on my K-5 as well).

Of course. My 18 year old son has put up the four portrait posters from my white album up on the wall above his vinyl player :) But he's a musician, so he's not your average music consumer.

Pentax KP vs. D750 raws at high ISO 25600 - Pentax APSC on par with Nikon FF

You don't? I took a look at the comparometer with my 5K screen and think the KP is clearly superior to the K-70. The KP is less "murky" and e.g. shows significantly more of the details on the labels of the bottles. I then tried ISO102400 on the KP against 51200 on the K-70, and then the K-70 won by a small margin. So my guess is that the KP wins over the K-70 at very high ISO by 1/2 to 2/3 stops.

Looks good to me, although the highest ISO is a joke. If it's at least a stop better than my K-5, I can think of lots of cases where it would have salvaged low light shots that turned out just a tiny bit too noisy.

I like the DA15, but I would prefer an "easier" lens, the DA15 is often difficult to work with due to its extremely curved focus field.
