Is my Sigma 150/500mm performing as it should?

I have the same combo (and in Denmark too). I use it in mostly in sunshine. I get decent results using TAv mode with ISO between 80 and 12.000 and shutter times around 1/1000.

I really like this lens. It's perfect for casual people shots - and as we've seen - pets.

Well, it's no big event and it is in Estonia, but still it's nice to see Pentax as official photo partner for any event: a marathon for electric cars.

I've noticed neither fits nor starts. And no noises either. The stabilized view finder is nice - esp. when trying to catch BIF. I miss a focus clutch, but I'm learning to pre-focus.

I enjoy using the Sigma. The OS gives you a stabilized image in the view finder which I find nice. Here's some shots (posted in another thread too):

I didn't get the right wing tip in the frame, so I cropped the left one as well...

Some more with the Sigma 150-500 5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM. tAV-mode works very well for me for these shots. It's nice not worrying about ISO.

I just got the Sigma 150-500, but have only tried it out once. I think it's ok'ish at 500. I think the pictures need some sharpening. Here's two straigt out of the K-5.

I didn't manage to catch a bird in flight, but that might as well be an operator error.

Why not the 16-50? SDM issues should be fixed and it's a perfect walk-around-zoom.

Also coming from K20D (GX20 actually, but...). They've removed the SR-switch. Thank you Pentax!

It was so easy to accidentally turn off SR - ruined quite a few shots for me. And the rest is great (I mean GREAT) too. Don't mind the mode lock. I don't think the dedicated iso-button is an improvement, but maybe that's just a question of habit.

I gave the wife an LX. Result: No questions about the (growing) lens collection. Only problem is that the K50/1.2 is now permanently attached to the LX (and the cost of developing films).

For the next two places some combination of:
K135/2.5, K50/1.2, Porst 55/1.2, Helios 44K-4, K15/3.5, DA*50-135 and M100 macro.

My new WR macro will be among those shortly...

Why?!?! Corn starch. I thought only the food industry would use this.

Well. Cooking is great. We're doing our own curries (having several types of mustard seeds is important etc.) and all that, but my favorites are still uncooked food: raw oysters coming in on a solid first place.
