Paid for a Pentax-M 28mm lens from a member of a different forum.

I decided to give the M 28 a try, likely it will verify the so-so reactions of many here, but it'll at least whet my appetite for pursuing something a little better - or confirm that I don't need to spend a lot of time grasping after old SLR lenses. Or... Both?

Your lens haul makes me jealous! Both of those lenses sound extremely interesting to me, and having the dock at so low a cost is added peace of mind. Hope you enjoy them, while I am over here trying to manage my envy.

I think without the railing on the right, the composition becomes boring. Printed well, if I saw this on a wall, I'd appreciate the overall balance and play between light and dark portions more with the railing than without it.

That's quite nice - though in the current climate of film development shops and availability, how many of us have that luxury? The closest lab to me is Blue Moon Camera, four hours away in Portland.

So does consensus hold that the M 28mm 2.8 is on the lower end of performance? I found one for $50 from a different forum, seems a little high but of course the 'Bay tends to run higher, because all film equipment there is inflated these days.

It is certainly a leap forwards for me... I've thought of offering a digitizing service to photographers who have negatives and no satisfactory way of scanning, for some inexpensive cost to cover a bit of my time sitting in front of the scanner. But I know many have qualms about sending valued negatives out in the mail. It sure seems like we should be able to create some kind of collective around one of these expensive scanners instead of each individually having to shell out upwards of $500 to each individually own one :/

I find it pretty good. Better than a lot of VFs I have tried.

Welcome! The 35 2.4 is what I'm shooting with right now on the KP. It's surprisingly good.

I'm not in agreement entirely, I've just been too busy to post. I personally don't mind seeing these posts, they are frequent but just a few images per.

Thanks, I got a Pacific Image XAs recently. It's been fantastic, even better as I'm learning more about SilverFast.

Yeah, that's definitely a thing... the crazy litigation seems to me to be a 90's thing, my timeline can always be wrong since that's the decade I was really becoming aware of the bigger world beyond my family life etc. But it's high time we get past that debilitating nanny-state predatory litigation mindset. I do believe corporations need to be more accountable, but all this is a singularly dystopian way of getting there.

This IS a right-to-repair kind of situation. If the world were different, then we could request or buy a piece of plastic that can snap off of a consumer electronic and fix it ourselves or through a private repair channel. As it is, corporations are allowed to guard their IP to the extent that aforementioned little pieces of plastic necessitate a complex chain of moving parts, from a shipping company both ways to an official repair facility to all of the people involved from start to finish. It's a good reminder that right-to-repair is another one of those small ways that individuals struggle to keep their heads above corporations and their bs...

I'll be really interested to see how FP4 looks developed that way. I've been looking forward to getting some more of it.

This isn't a de-acquisition, as I wasn't planning on changing up my gear... yet, but I'm about to pack the Panasonic LX100II back up. A certain elusive "something" keeps it from being quite what it seems to promise, to me, anyway. It's really too bad. The not-quite-best of Panasonic, in a body that is a minor miracle to even exist.

Went for a grungy, underexposed film look through a window here. Right after Christmas. IMGP1393-01 by Andrew Lossing, on Flickr
