The grip on a K-01 is to me more comfortable than a K-70
The K5 is the best of my grips

I have read that the grips are similar, been a while since I held a K50.
Now, this is where my lack of reason comes in......I never liked the K50 so I should have read a bit before buying the K70. I was looking at the KP but the lack of IR remote put me off and I don't have a cell phone.

I am going to put out the idea of an Olympus EM10 mark2, which with 14-42 and 40-150 can be got now very cheap. Pairs nice with a smart phone and a lot of fun.

Well for $350 I would be tempted to part with my K70, just dicker over shipping costs as I have never sent anything out of Canada

Its like a narrow slot to get your fingers in. My fingers are not fat but they feel trapped. I got it back out and tried again. took about another 200 shots and put it back in the box.
Its a risk I take as there are no stores here that carry Pentax, so cant get one in my hand to see. Would love to trade it for a K5IIs or a Lumix 25mm 1.4, but if not then sell it I will.

OK, now to put another of my different ideas out there. I find now that my eyes are not what they used to be I find it hard to manual focus with a DSLR. So I switched over to using K-01 cameras.
This old camera has the same sensor as the K5 but has focus peaking and zoom focus. Now it can be hard to see in the sunlight but there are ways around this, hoods etc.
I still have my K10 and nice old camera but the rear LCD screen is tiny.

I am going to throw out a different option,
Used Olympus EM10 mark 1, should be going now for around $200, get a $15 pk adapter from Ebay, have a modern setup with auto ISO, easier to focus due to zoom focus and focus peaking. In body IS 3 axis.
All these photos were on EM10, using adapters, more crop factor on Oly though, 50mm becomes 100mm, even on K10 it will still be around 70mm

I vote for a tilt screen on the new K3, dont like the flippy things. While they are at it they can put an EVF on the new K-01 =)

Going to sell my new to me silver K-70. I got it with 1700 shots and now is close to 2000. Camera is flawless and looks just like new. I would take a trade for a low count K5IIs.
Picture quality is great but I find the grip very uncomfortable, prefer the K5 type of grip. Putting it out for the "Dailies" first and would sell for $450CDN ($350USD), shipping depends on destination.

Pentax KP or K-70 for a first DSLR

I chose the K70 as it is almost half the price of a KP and most reviews say its more bang for the buck than the KP. I see now the K3II can be bought for the same price here, $700 CDN, but I need a flippy screen.
For the first camera, I would check out mirrorless cameras first.
I love my Pentax don't get me wrong, but mirrorless is going to be the future. I went for Olympus EM10 mk2 it has anti-shake in the body like Pentax.

Just checking prices here in Canada, McBain camera,\
K70 with 18-135 lens $1050CDN
KP body only $1130CDN

As far as the sun on the LCD, this is what I use. It's like using a viewfinder to your eye and one hand or a hat brim across the top and no problems. Less bulky than a Hoodman.
And another reason they are more expensive, those of us that really like the K-01 may have more than one, I have a yellow, 2 black, and a smurf blue

I think my 18-55II which is a little harder to find now, is better than my other 18-55's and do like the 16-45 but its a bit longer and extends out to get wider which seems odd now.

This makes me sit, think and unable type anything meaning full and certainly nothing to ease the pain. Your family is in my thoughts in this time of grief.

My daughter's boyfriend was killed on the job about 5 years ago he was 21, she asked me one time about remembering him over the years, I told her the heart will always have enough room for those we have loved.

K200D -- battery advice?

If you search "Pentax battery depleted" you will find nearly all Pentax cameras that take AA batteries are a camera to avoid, My K200 and istDS died of this problem even after wasting money on Eneloops and lithiums . They would not go past taking 50 shots.

For CCD colour and relabilityI would buy a K10 that takes better battery packs.

I did read once that using an external battery pack avoided this problem but cant remember if the K200 has a outlet for an external pack?

Yea the tilt screen is a good plus, its like my Oly tilt screen. I like the top display on the K3 Oh my, I think $999 CDN or $770 USD is pretty good, but I can also get the K3 with 18-135 for $840 USD.
