Nothing too exciting.
Trying to make myself shoot everyday though and people have encouraged me to try to use the Jpegs more so outside of a slight crop, this is straight out of the camera.

I am definitely trying to dial in the in camera settings and then working on being more conscientious about nailing all of the other parameters (especially exposure). I would LOVE to not have to post process! My initial attempts were less than ideal for the in camera settings.

Just a few quick pics from my first time shooting with the XT3. I love USING the camera. The iso, aperture, and exposure compensation dials are awesome! I did have some issues with focus points and need to figure that out. Also, the post-processing issues are real with Fuji .RAF! I thought it was an overblown issue, but I definitely will NOT be processing the files in Lightroom. I downloaded the C1 Fuji Express software and that seems to work the best. I did also try out iridient x converter but wasn't pleased with those results either. So, looks like I will be learning the C1 system until/if Adobe ever fixes their support, which is a shame to me.

Still have my K5 and a handful of lenses, but just received my Fuji XT-3 and it feels like a new day in my photography. I am super excited about the camera! Spent the day learning the menu system yesterday and while I only have the 18-55 for the time being am chomping at the bit to get out and shoot! The images in this thread are inspiring!

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Several Lenses: 55-300, 50 FA 1.4, 40mm 2.8 limited, 10-20 Sigma 3.5

Asking Price
550.00 USD

Item Location
Atlanta, Ga (United States)

Item Description
This is probably the third or fourth time I have listed these lenses over the years, but just never pulled the trigger to actually sell. I have priced these at what I believe are super competitive prices, generally speaking. I will not ship outside the U.S. sorry, I have had at least two negative experiences with that, it's just not worth it to me. If these fail to sell, I will pack up and sell to KEH since I live close by. Would rather sell on here and make me a little more/save you a little more.

Pentax 55-300mm HD DA ED WR - case, caps, hood and box - $200
Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM with case, caps, hood and box - $200
Pentax 40mm F2.8 Limited with case and caps - $150
Pentax SMC-FA 1.4 50mm - just caps- $100 -SOLD-

I will sell all together for $50 off, so $500 for everything. This would give you a great range of very nice lenses. All in good working order, average used cosmetic condition, no scratches on any of the glass elements. Shipping will vary on location and any preference you might have around shipping (time frame, type of tracking, etc).

Iceland 2015 This trip was amazing and I cherish the memories. Making new photos was easy in Iceland as itís by far the most beautifully diverse country I have ever seen. At least that you can drive through in less than 3 days! Yet the dichotomy of the hilly landscape with the wide open crisp skies made it hard to actually focus on taking pics of any one thing. This was outside a small Viking movie set. Pretty cool to be able to walk through it for a small fee. There were real whale ribs left on the set as well, which was interesting!

Pentax K5 (and Oly EM-5) to Sony A7?

Thanks, intellectually I know this about modern cameras, and honestly I am not really looking to change to improve my photography, more to scale down to one system and stick with it. It does help to be reminded that image quality is not really a major factor whichever way I go.

Pentax K5 (and Oly EM-5) to Sony A7?

Thank you for all the thoughtful replies! I did not realize that the A7 didnít have IBIS, not sure how I missed that in the reviews. Is anyone else shooting with the Sony A series bodies that wants to chime in? I donít worry about weather sealing as much these days. I may just keep my K5 with the weather sealed 18-55/55-300 combo just in case. The Oly is a wonderful little camera that I really enjoy using, but feel the micro 4/3s system is self limiting and IMO has a distinct lack of mid tier decent glass ($200-$500 range), and I am not convinced the sensor size can really continue to keep pace with the APS-C and Full Frame sensors of the world. Though with what smart phone sensors are doing these days, maybe I am wrong?

Pentax K5 (and Oly EM-5) to Sony A7?

So I currently still shoot with a Pentax K5 a few years ago I purchased a used OMD EM-5 as well. I love both cameras but hate having to switch based on my needs. I use the Pentax when I am going to shoot outdoors (think the beach, hiking, etc) and the OMD when I am doing more urban photography or going to social events. I am very interested in the Sony system. I currently don't shoot enough to make a major financial investment in a newer camera, but KEH has some good prices on the original A7 that might be a good entry point into the Sony world? Anyone have any thoughts on how the A7 has held up. Remember I am still shooting a K5 which is even older than the Sony and largely happy except for the bulk/weight.

Handheld on a pylon at the edge of the water, but yes, i agree with it lacking sharpness. Thanks for the feedback.

---------- Post added 01-16-2018 at 10:11 AM ----------

Do you have a particular area you would recommend focusing on? Outside of trying to capture as much of the span of the bridge as possible, I wasn't sure where to concentrate my focus. One of the reasons I posted in here so any suggestions are welcome.

Took this with my old trusty K20D back in the day. Looking at this pic again makes me realize that my current K5 is plenty of camera for me and no need to upgrade any time soon.

See that's what I get for not reading the whole thread first! :D In that case, definitely do some of the black sand beaches. I especially liked the beaches near Vik if you get out that way.

Iceland is hands down one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I didn't read back through the entire thread, but the tips I would give include make sure you have something very wide to take. Wider than 16mm if possible. Be prepared to stare mouth agape, a lot, and definitely read up on taking pics of the Aurora Borealis, Northern Lights in Iceland | When & Where to See the Aurora and astrophotography too. Below is a link to a google gallery of a few of my pics (and a few my wife took as well). Enjoy the trip, soon Iceland will be not as much fun because tourism is running rampant and that almost always has a deleterious effect over time.

So I am just getting back into photography after almost a 2 year hiatus. I have never been a really technically proficient photographer, just enjoy getting out and taking photos. I would consider myself an intermediate level hobbyist photographer. That being said, I would like to improve. I took this photo two nights ago and while I wasn't really putting a ton of effort into it, would be interested in hearing about what others would have done different. I PP'd in lightroom. Looking for constructive feedback so I can learn. Thanks in advance!
