Problems printing 8x12 photos

Well said Steve. I spent a lot of time fussing and worrying about these points, especially the 'brightness' of the printed image on paper until I learned how true that is and finally understood that my monitor is 'backlit' with a large white light and my paper merely 'reflects' available light.

Eye-Fi orphans 14 products, which will therefore cease to function

Interesting article and how it also applies to light bulbs and thermostats. Thanks for sharing it.

Maybe the solution is that if your item needs an active internet connection to configure or function, then don't purchase it and let the company know why you're not buying it.

I had thought of trying out Philips smart light bulbs but reading that you need an account with them to use the bulbs, I'll avoid them.

Nice photo and it certainly says something about backward compatibility.

They are quite tiny screws that hold everything on, aren't they. I wonder about the flash hotshoe, flashes seem to get bigger and heavier all the time.

The footage I want to see is the person's reaction when the LCD support fails when they're doing this.

(Yes, I'm envious, jealous, bitter & twisted that I don't have a K-1 (yet))

Compact Photo Printer: Canon Selphy CP1200

I find that Canon doesn't provide support for older printers and newer OSes. I had to put a previous version of the Mac OS on my laptop to use with the Selphy. They don't provide a driver for the latest version using a USB connection.

I used the CP910 to do pet with Santa photographs for a Cat Sanctuary last Christmas.

Useful little printer. I could shoot a number of photos tethered (I have a Canon 50d for tethering as well as my K20 & K-5 for other photography) and have the customer view them on my Macbook and then print the one they liked. (they gave the Sanctuary $10 for each print they wanted or for multiple copies. It was for charity)

Supplies are rather expensive but the nice thing is that you get the ink (well, plastic roll) cartridges along with the paper and the paper is packaged into packets that just fill up the printer feeder. Also very quick to change the ink cartridge on the go.

It makes a nice photo that you can hand to the customer when it comes out. No need to wait for drying. Just make sure they don't try to pull the photo out before it's finished as the photo does move back and forth for each colour. You think it's done but it's not.

For an application like you are looking for solutions to the Selphy may work out really well. I wish it would do 5x7 prints but the 4x6 ones are OK.

I'll add that you get a starter pack with the printer. 5 prints and the ink roll is good for that number as well. Good to try it out with but that's all.

I also made sure that I could return an extra supply package if it hadn't been opened. Always good to have extra supplies.

Hmm, That does give us an indication for future numbering schemes.

K-1, K-3, K-5.... or alternatively, K1-, K3-, K5- .....

I would suspect that putting the lens in the fridge would make the problem even worse, oil gets more sluggish when cold.

Suggest sending it out or trying to fix it yourself if you're brave.

Interesting that it automatically uploads all photos. That should make it even faster for posting photos online that you later regret.

Remote Control F, Card Reader, Card, Strap & Cloth $19.99 at Henry's

But, did you need or want the other $40 and would you have purchased that $40 worth of items at some point anyway?

In that case, you're still ahead of the game with the free shipping.

(Trying to make a fellow Pentaxian feel better!!)

True enough.

Rather overpriced at that price but worth it for $20.

Thanks, I was curious.

I ordered one of these as a boxing day sale from Henry's with free shipping. As has been said, the remote is worth that amount of money.

The neck strap is in my surplus box but the card reader is quite nice. Unlike some readers, this one has covers for BOTH ends so you can toss it anywhere in a camera bag and not worry about anything (dust etc) falling into it. It's also quite pretty when in use!!!

The memory card isn't really worth while but for $20 the whole kit is very much worth while.

Wonder what this package cost when new?

Once again, a fantastic series of photos showing what life is like over there.

Thanks again for sharing them with us. I can't imagine wearing all that kit in the sun and the weight of it.

So many of your photos show smiling people. When I see photos of your folks interacting with the regular Afghans I always feel that there is hope for humanity after all.

Damn, now my 58 AF-2 is obsolete even though it's more powerful. I hate that!!

Hope they don't update my model for awhile until I can afford to upgrade.

Thanks for the info though.

Sorry for interjecting here but that statement is so profound. I'd never thought about that before even though I do use my camera in manual and the flash in old-fashioned thyristor automatic.

Nicely put, I'll remember that next time as an aide-memorie (or however you spell it!!)

Thanks.

Nice captures. Glad they're keeping the races going.

Flying is not dangerous, it is just rather unforgiving depending on what you're doing. (Slightly paraphrased from a flight instructor of mine a number of years ago!!)
