I love that hawk photo. The composition is really pleasing to my eye, and the vignetting completes it. BTW, the bird looks like it wants my soul

I really, really like the third pic. Great framing. Happen to have any pics of that yellow EK9?

One of the best insect macro's i've ever seen. Really striking colours, and AWESOME technique. Good job!

Man, rpf1's look good on any car they are put on. Very slick (and lightweight) wheel. Anyways I like the shots overall, but I feel that shot 2 is missing something, either in the back or foreground. A little too much empty neutral-coloured space for my liking, but that's just my opinion. Perhaps the owner could have stood in frame like they seem to do in tuner mags. You did a great job, considering the car is black along with the wheels. I know I have a hard time shooting black cars. Good work!

I like the colour in these photos, however, the composition is a little lacking. Try cropping both images so that the subjects are following the "rule of thirds." In other words, try to get them out of the centre of the frame, because I don't think it works here. I think if you cropped the pics, they'd be great.

Cool. Looks like an album cover, or as Sean Connery would say "anal bum cover"

The more the marrier I'd say. I'd be proud to have both on the PPG. But. if you are really wanting to get rid of one, I would personally get rid of the non-HDR one, as the image just looks less sharp to my eyes, maybe as it is a crop. Both great images, though.

I recently received a 1/6 scale figure of the terminator exoskeleton, and thought I'd take his picture. I've always thought that the terminator is one of the scariest/iconic of the movie baddies, so I tried to process the photo to give him an "I'm unstoppable, completely emotionless, and I'm going to rip your heart out" kind of look  |

Awesome lines. That guy is perfectly framed too. I have a feeling if this pic wasn't captured a split second earlier or later from when you did, it wouldn't have worked. Well done!

I think it looks cool. A little too much contrast for my liking, though. I try sending all my photos through PP software. Some people are purists, and won't have any kind of software touch their photo, but I think almost every photo of mine can use something (Maybe I'm just a terrible photographer :p ) Anyways, the more you process, the better you will get at it. Plus I think it's just a lot of fun. I think you're off to a good start though.

Just got a couple photos accepted into the PPG, for a total of three. I'm pretty excited, as the one of the log made it into the premiere collection, making it my first. I definately wasn't expecting that; then again I've heard a lot of people on this board who say it's always the one you least suspect that makes it. These were shot at one of the Vermillion Lakes in Banff National Park. |

It's really easy to go overboard on the effect when you are just starting out. I may have been doing it wrong, but it would take me quite a while to mess with all of the sliders until I got to a point in which I was happy with the image; perhaps there is an easier way to do it, but it definately took a lot of fiddling. Also, this might only apply to Photomatix, but after you are done with the sliders, and are happy with the image, it renders the final image which will look different than the preview. This is frustrating, so, if it is available to you, I would suggest a different program, perhaps CS2. Although, I have created some of my favourite pics with Photomatix.

I've only ever owned one backpack, the Tamrac Expedition 5x. I really like it, although I have nothing to compare it with. It keeps it's shape well, it's nice and comfortable, it has a whole lot of space and pockets, a small laptop compartment (I do emphasize small, though) and it has an overhang over the main zipper that youi can tighten to keep water out, while the other zippers have a tight rubber lining on the outside to also help keep water out. it does look like a camera backpack though, which some people might have a problem with. Also, to get anything out of the main compartment, you have to take the whgole thing off, and then make sure to zip it back up, or everything will come tumbling out. It will easily swallow your current kit, and leaves you lots of room for expansion. |

Cool shots. Really like the lighting of the first. Must be fun/ nerve racking to do some on set shooting. I recognize that actor. He has a very cool face. This is most definately a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway-- is that a real dog?
Wow....nevermind...of course it is real...it says it's your dog in the title of the thread. I need some sleep.

Some very nice shots of some great looking fish, especially considering the lighting conditions. Is that a real anemone? If so, where would one purchase such a creature, and how the heck did you get it in the tank? BTW it looks like you have your own production of Finding Nemo going lol.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
Dugrant153, I just played the L4D2 demo. Let me tell you I would not want to alert the witch in real life  The lens used was the DA* 50-135mm. I agree that the boards really make the scale obvious. I'll choose a different spot to shoot next time.

I recently started another hobby that combines nicely with photography, collecting 12 inch posable figures. Here is my first figure, a GIGN operator. He is styled to resemble a member of the task force called to kill Jean Reno's character in the movie The Professional (which, if you haven't seen, do so now, as it is an AWESOME movie.) I personally think he looks like he would do well in a zombie apocalypse situation  |

Taff, Here is the image before I did a lot of editing with photoshop. This image was an HDR composed of 3 images. This is what photomatix "spit out" after processing
And here are some crops. Better? Worse? |

I recently got a chance to play around with CS4, and man do I love it! So, I revisited some photos of mine that I thought could use some spicing up with photoshop magic. C&C welcome.
I posted this pic a while back, but it has since been touched up in CS4 to remove some sensor dust, boost contrast and add some dodging and burning.
Now, I know a lot of people on this board absolutely HATE selective colouring, but I really didn't like the original colours in this photo except the eyes, and I thought the total B&W conversion was missing something. So...
Used CS4 to convert to B&W and remove some distractions with some burning.
Used CS4 to dodge some detail, boost contrast and saturation.
This last one was just for fun. Found this mini in a parking lot, took a pic, and decided to turn it into a mini advert. What you can't see is that the front is CAKED with bugs  |
