Item Description
This is a great sturdy light weight tripod setup. I used it once so it is in like new condition without any blemishes or issues.
The head is a Acratech Ultimate Ballhead without the level or detent options. Also included is the Acratech Cork Top Universal Quick Release Plate, with 1/4"-20 Screw (fits all typical cameras with a tripod socket).
The tripod is a Alta 255CT carbon fiber.

I will remove that listing once sold.

I am selling this used lens which I don't use enough to justify keeping it. It is in like new condition with no flaws or issues and is still under full warranty from the Pentax repair center CRIS for a few more months. It has been updated with the newest focus motor and factory calibrated. It was not focusing as fast as I thought it should so Pentax repaired it and included a 6 month warranty. It also does not require any focus correction on my K5 now.
Included is the lens, Hood, both caps and bag.

I purchased this lens a few weeks ago from an on-line retailer as a new open box item and the first one they sent me was DOA. They exchanged it for a new, non open box one so that is the lens you are getting. I took it out of the box to confirm proper operation on my K-5 and it works great then, I put it back in the box.
Include is the original box, lens, hood, case and tripod foot.
I don't know for a fact that it will carry a new Pentax warranty so I am going to state that you are buying it as is with no warranty.
It seems to be a fantastic lens but I don't have a need for it since I have other zooms.

The 60-250 is on the right. The back is open as you can see while the other two have a glass element that seals the lens body. Just trying to determine if this is normal or if mine is missing the glass. The fuzzy coating is like the inside of the lens hoods on the FA series. I lost my confidence in Pentax support when they told me they are all built like this?

Got my replacement DA* 60-250 from the big ebay seller today and this copy works great so far including the auto focus.
I was wondering if anyone can confirm that there is no fixed glass element on the rear of this lens? I don't know how I would have missed noticing this on my first defective copy. It is just a fuzzy hole and I can see way into the guts of the lens and the rear element moves in and out when zooming.
I chatted with Pentax support and their response was that all DA* lenses are like that which is not true, I have all but the 55 and all have a fixed rear element that is flush with the mount.

I just bought one of these last week as a "new" open-box lens from an ebay seller and it was DOA. My K5 indicated that the MF/AF switch on the lens was working based on the camera display but the auto focus motor was just unresponsive. I called Pentax support and they suggested cleaning the contacts which did not help. The ebay seller is sending me a replacement open-box lens at no cost. Kind of makes me wonder why they have these open-box copies to start with?
Sadly, this is the second of five DA* lenses that I have purchased that have had the SDM fail.

I just got my DA* 50-135 back from Pentax with a new SDM motor and was surprised like you that it still makes noise when focusing; kind of a squealing/whirring sound as it racks through the focus range. My other DA* star lens are virtually silent, DA* 200 is silent, DA* 60-250 some noise, and DA* 16-50 silent.

I got the call from CRIS on Friday and was told it will be $157 to replace the focus motor. She said they will also clean and calibrate the lens to Pentax factory specs. Included is a 6 month warranty as well. I told them to go ahead with the repairs and she said it will be 4 to 6 weeks. I feel pretty good about this since I got the lens for about half of what used ones are selling for.

I just sent mine to Pentax for a repair estimate. It was very slow to "wake up(15-30 seconds)" and start focusing when first attached to the camera. The focus ring seems to have about twice as much drag when manually rotating it compared to my other DA* lens but I don't know if this is normal or not. It also makes a squeaking noise when the focus motor is running sort of like a dry bushing.
I will post an update once I hear from them.
