Refreshing falls here, everybody. Sure is nice to think about cool waterfalls about now with 95F+ temperatures this week here. I'm looking forward to the falls in Fall:

Having a little fun with post-processing to illustrate an article on how "devices" can come between us and the world we hope to experience. (Cross-post with Post your waterfalls and moving water)

Thanks! I don't have a smart phone either and never will. Pulled the hand-phone image from a copyright free gallery somewhere.

K200D battery issues.

Good recent advice from Pacerr and Belcik. I'd like to add a couple points from having used a K200d as well as Eneloop batteries since 2009.

1. I, too, have found that carrying a backup set of lithium batteries means never having to say you're sorry.

2. We use Eneloop batteries for more than just my cameras, and for 8-10 years have been recharging them in a generic "quick charger" designed for NiMH cells. While it's possible this quick-charger may shorten the life of Eneloop batteries, that hasn't been our experience to date. Just be sure to charge sets of 2 to 4 batteries at a time.

The advantage of quick-charging is that a full set of 4 Eneloop batteries charges in 2 to 4 hours instead of the 7 to 8 hours it takes in the proper Eneloop charger.

3. If a freshly charged set of batteries seems not to be lasting as long as it should, use a volt-ohm meter to check each cell. My husband does this for me because he's more an electrician than I am. He performs two tests with his analogue meter:

a. Run the "battery test" function which checks voltage under load for each cell.

b. Check delivered voltage for each cell.

Duds are retired. All it takes is one dud cell in the group of four to reduce how long your camera will function, if it functions at all.

Hope this helps future users of cameras that use AA cells, like the wonderful K200d, which is still going strong for me.

Remember self-similarity over scale changes, though I doubt bubbles would be proportionately large if the drop was as high as Niagara. Refreshing photo to see on this hot day in the Adirondack Mountains. Need to cool off some more...
