Full Frame Wide Angle Lens List--20mm and Under

Yeah, that is the problem with full frame especially, I like the smaller size factor of a 21mm prime lens, would be a good landscape and a nice city lens (vacation) if it was 1.8 like the nikkor lens, all the better for night shots.
Have a K3 with a few primes but not the 15mm, looking forward for the next K1 to come out, then I would upgrade to full frame, probably use mostly primes.

Does anyone knows when that will come out?, or are Pentax using all their resources on the successor to the K3 ?

He is using a Nikon 7200 or 7100, not sure on the model number.
I am not talking about manual focusing, what I am talking about is for a normal person with very little experience taking up a camera and getting most of the shots in focus, I am sure he could not do that with a Pentax, I love Pentax, but I feel that they need to do something with their focusing system if they want to compete.
Most people donít want to be experts, they just want their camera to take pictures that their iPhone can without most pictures being blurry because a child is running too fast!

Good for you, I have found that my K3 has a lot of missed shot when I take photos of my brotherís kids, especially when they are running towards me, a friend with a Nikon has a much better hit rate than me and he is a bigger amateur than I am :-)

Sorry, but I really do not agree with that, I think if Pentax wants to survive in todayís market they need to have a autofocus that is able to take pictures of ones family or the familyís pet !
Still image today is great from every manufacturer with very little to tell them apart, Pentax makes fantastic robust and good handling cameras, but I find the engine of the camera unfortunately slow, from autofocus to writing to card, Pentax needs to put a turbocharger in the engine bay to make it feel snappier.
The K1 with a much faster autofocus and faster writing to cards, a higher resolution back screen and usb 3.1 plus a door cover for the eye piece ala Nikon 800...would sell faster than RICOH could make them, even if 20-30% more expensive, and i truly believe there would be a market for that

I have the 100mm filter system from Lee with too many filters to invest in a new system, will the Irix 15mm be able to use the 100 mm system or maybe the filters but with an other holder ?

Yes, have been thinking about the 16-85, but I think that it may overlap my other lenses too much as it is first most a traveling lens and not a dedicated landscape lens ! But I am no pro, so maybe it would do fine... A lot of great picture from it, that's for sure.

The Lee filters go on last, it is more when I walk around with the lens on the camera that concern me.

That would be a great focal length, any idea when a lens like this will be released by Pentax ?

Thanks, manual lens not a problem, also thinking about picture quality from the lens is more important than other things, can stitch it together in post if need be.

Wide angle lens for K3

Hi everyone

I am looking for a landscape lens for my K3, my widest lenses are the 18-135 and the Sigma 17-50.
Would like a bit wider, maybe I can also use from 16mm, only have it be a weather resistant Pentax lens as I live in Faroe Islands where it likes to rain.....alot!

I am open for a prime too, as I have the 35, 40 and 70 limiteds and love to use them.
My 18-135 Pentax lens I don't find very sharp for landscape and the Sigma is not good in rainy conditions, also I find that the Sigma does not have the Pentax rendition and colors.

Hope for some feedback
ps.... to be used with Lee filters

Thanks!

New Sony 99 successor next month?

Yeah, i have been wanted to go to a full frame camera for a while now, using a K3 I was hoping it would be with Pentax, but unfortunately it seams to take a long time with them
If Sony used a normal viewfinder I would be more interested as I like the in body stabilization.
One thing I have noticed after using the K5 and now K3 both nearly always with the battery grip attached is that the quality of the body seams much better than the full frame cameras like D810, 5d mark 3, and the Sony a99, the Pentax seams more dense in your hand, I just wished it was a little bit bigger as I have large hands, one thing I notice with the a99 was that the view finder froze for a moment after taken picture!!! Seamed a bit annoying, otherwise it seamed like a really nice camera, I really like a big viewfinder, sometimes the K3 seams too small, and to look into a 810, or the a99 is like revelation for me, mind you the a99 is like looking into a tv! Looks good in good light, not so good for me in darker surroundings, but maybe one just has to get use to it, the one I tried had a lot of information on the viewfinder screen, but I guess that can be changed to your preference, would have liked to try it with the grip, but did not have time.

Was in a Sony camera shop checking out the A99 when I was told that the new successor would be released next month, I was a bit surprised as I have not heard this as very strong rumor for this year, so I asked the saleswoman again, and she repeated "next month"
Interesting:-)

Hi guys & girls.

Anyone here use the Mindshift Rotation 180 backpack from Mindshift.

If so, how do you rate it ?

hope for some real world answers, also the f-stop Satori bag looks interesting.

Thanks

Am in Thailand on vacation, while walking with my wife in one of the malls, I spotted a camera shop selling these bags, they are very very nice indeed, a bit heavier than I expected but seams like very high quality.
Am really thinking about buying before heading home again, unfortunately they only had the green one, I think I would like a light gray color better, but overall a very nice camera backpack.
